I’m gonna be putting Cain on a hiatus for a while. With everything going on and stuff, it’s hard for me to manage multiple blogs. I’ll still be around on my other blog ( @friendsinthefrost ) and Discord, but this blog in particular’s gonna take a break while IRL stuff settles down, y’know?

montaguesoath:
“No, I don’t believe I ever could either,” Romeo admits, mentally picturing himself in anything that Cain would wear. It wouldn’t work, in his opinion, very well… Green wasn’t much of his color. “It’s a little thing that makes you who you are, as silly as that sounds when I say it.” That much he does understand: else why else would he blatantly wear the Montague colors brazenly in the open?
There’s that comforting feeling again, even as he lurches forward slightly from Cain’s force of hand, straightening up again; thinking over how he needs to improve his socializing skills again. Still, rather than think too much over his own lacking in personal relationships in…ages, he ponders over what Cain had said. “Are you prone to loneliness, Cain?” Romeo asks, tilting his head because, yes, he would have to be told.
Didn’t seem that Cain is any bothered by what he mentioned, nor bored out of his mind at the shopping spree, thus Romeo counts that as a win; he’s even grinning about it! “Then we should find the time to do this more often. I need an excuse to head out more often, then you won’t have to be alone, how does that sound?”
“Aw, flattery? I’m touched, dude. But it does take a certain kind of guy to pull off green.” Cain’s got a smirk on his face, hand under his chin in an effort to make some sort of egotistic expression. He couldn’t quite pull the face off, but it was an attempt all the same.
He’s gonna maintain his smirk up until he’s asked if he’s prone to loneliness. This jolts him out of his expression, causing him to tilt his head in confusion towards Romeo. He was indeed. Very much so. Having grown with so few friends and almost no real birth family in current times... It was hard not to say he was lonely.
“I am. But I’m glad life’s turning around to fix that. I’d appreciate spending more time with you, sure. Any human interaction is fun, healthy for the heart, but especially for the mind. It’s pretty tough not havin’ many people to talk to, you understand right? I had all of Idelva to explore, and I’m smart that way. But it doesn’t leave much for friendships when your only talking jobs are usually business or government related.” He’s quite honest in his life. But it was worth mentioning it all and getting it in the open, especially if he could make a friend that understood where he was coming from and why he is the way he is.
“I gotta lotta time on my hands, if that means anything to you.”

stories-in-song:
❇{ℒ𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽} Soon hearing the stomach of his rumble again, Naiko just let out a chuckle. Though not as an insult of course; knowing that this was his reply or rather his body’s reply. “I have some sugar cookies, made them myself. Nice to have when you are traveling,” the Xeala Auri replied with a smile on her face while kneeling down. These made good meals whenever you wanted to keep going, before having to find a place to rest up for a bit. “I also have some hot cocoa to go along with them,” she added and took out a bottle of it. Not to sure if the stranger wanted something more to eat, but this is what was in hand at the moment. If he wanted more then no doubt that she’ll do more for him to satisfy that hunger.
Soon sitting herself down and took out the cookies and hot cocoa, but warmed up the said hot cocoa to have it be the way it has to. “What are you doing out here with nothing to eat?” Naiko asked curiously while preparing the snack meal. She did not believe that there be people out here that would not be carrying something to eat, but it turns out that there were people like that. Can’t really blame them… having a meal with you and trying to keep it up without wasting it or having them being spoiled.
The cookies were now warm and so was the cocoa, then placed them in front of the stranger with a smile on her face.
“Mmmm....” The general replies, his stomach willing him to take the cookies. He did have a sweet tooth, and it certainly took over his senses when it got strong enough, so he’d look the other way through accepting food from strangers. He just needed one or two maybe. Hot drinks on the other hand, he’d respectfully pass up on, a hand making a ‘thanks but no thanks’ gesture to that offer. He really wasn’t much for coffee or tea either.
Then, he gets embarrassed again when asked why he doesn’t have anything with him. That wasn’t exactly true. In fact, he had eaten. An hour ago. But so was the way of his people where somehow almost all Idelvans had such large appetites. “Truth be told, I’m just really prone to hunger. I’d planned on staying out here for a while, but I suppose I didn’t pack enough food. Hehe.... My bad, my bad.” His hand reaches out to steal a cookie and pop it into his mouth.
“Mmms.... Kin’a goo’.” He’s smiling, giving her a wink. It took a few moments for his sugar tooth to approve of said food, his smile widening. “Aaaaaa~ More. More~” And he’s gone kinda kid-mode. Hand reaches out to take two more and chomp on them both at once. “Wha’s in ‘ese???” He says, face turned a little while speaking with his mouth full.

“Please,” Romeo replies, with a small laugh to join in, but there’s still that reminder that the man beside him did defeat him in a spar easily. There’s much more there than Cain shows off ( and Romeo’s manliness is still sore to want to ask for a round 2 ).
Engrossed as he is in the lesson about his home – sometimes lapsing longer into his native language to better explain Verona’s history, other times it simply came out to better make sense of a joke – he doesn’t think much of Cain and him holding hands. If anything the action is all too normal, but comforting, with the longer it went on.
They’re on the outskirts of the market plaza, pausing due to Cain’s dilemma ( surely the economy will be boosted ). “Not much of a window shopper I see,” Romeo deduces, “There’s the outside performances that they were setting up past the market and well, I thought we could go there for a little.”
Which in Romeo tongue that means he really wants to go watch the plays. They were rustic things, nothing in comparison to the Globe when it visits, but Romeo did not care about that at all. “Still, if it’s money that’s the issue, I have some to spare. …unless we’re talking about your fourth stomach there.”
“Y-Yo! That secret stomach’s supposed to remain a secret! It’s the Idelvan man’s ace in regards to food eating contests! If that lets slip, we’ll be banned from all those contests!” He’s being melodramatic again, completely making up this ridiculous story but playing along with Romeo all the same.
He nods, hands feeling warmer all the second. His energy, enough to remain his crazy self, was only made possible by their physical contact, their, dare he say, romance. Cain was at ease.
“I’m... Not the biggest shopper, since I usually get dragged along by Pholia or Leo... And I’d rather grab a bite or do somethin’ fun than shop, but... I guess if it’s with you, I wouldn’t mind. Mmm, but a show’s always something I like seeing. Might just have to join in if they let me, hehe. Wouldn’t that embarrass ya?”

cherry find blood on them.
Nonverbals
The general continues walking, his steps never faltering as he quickly paces from the scene. There had been no other option other than to cut down the intruder. For once, words and reason wouldn’t work and the intruder had been much beefier than Cain. It was either kill or be killed. It went against his policy of killing another living thing, but... Well, it couldn’t be helped now.
Straight faced, Cain makes a beeline for his room and bathroom to wash off the blood. He wants to make it to the bathroom without being seen, or having to explain what he’d done, but unfortunately this couldn’t be so. He bumps into Katalina of all people, and his face falls. She’s... Also covered in blood? Dirt? Had there been another intruder? Most likely, considering intruders wouldn’t work alone for such a big ship.
“You... Too? Another one?” Cain whispers, each word dripped with grimness.

Hearing that Cain is enjoying himself in this situation, Romeo was able to find himself at ease – his friend must have the patience of a saint to deal with Romeo’s fumbling around! Mercutio was the type of person to rush through shops when it didn’t concern him and Noa would’ve teased him endlessly from the beginning – patting down the shirt in question.
“Oh yes, I do indeed. It’s more comfortable to wear than the last shirt and not distracting.” Distracting in a different sense anyway… But he could read in peace, while being out of his usual attire can be a casual change; better yet, while he’s holed up in his room finishing up a play. “To speed this up, I’ve stuck to what’s similar to this and the same brand – they’re different colors, naturally. At most, several days worth of clothes, since I don’t tend to stay with the crew longer than a month or two.”
That’s a story for another day. Romeo had been in the process of gathering his things too, all clothed out for the day, when he realized. “Cain, isn’t there anything you wanted from here too? Don’t tell me you managed to only stand there waiting for me, ‘hanging out with me’ or not.” The fashion leader there must’ve found something; if he’s honest, Romeo would’ve been bored out of his mind if it didn’t have a modicum of his interest. Instead Cain’s been there, wearing the same thing he always had, barely moving very far from the changing area; it’s not like he needs to be waited on either.
“Mmmm. Nope! Truth be told, I came her a while ago and scouted out a thing or two already. This isn’t really my kind of stuff anyway. Y’know me, I really like super casual stuff. Something tells me that even you aren’t gonna be able to pull of my style, hehe.”
It seemed like all Idelvans wore outfits that screamed ‘fall fashion’ too... But that was a discussion for another day. Cain chuckled, clapping him on the shoulder. “I was only looking for a good time, and that’s all that I need to get me through a day, understand? I really like spending time with people. I feel less lonely when I do that. Well that and-” Cain looks down towards his abdomen and grins, then glances up expectantly at Romeo. “Ehehe...” Did he even have to say what else he needed?

guide!!
Nonverbals
“It’s just over here?” Cain follows behind, hand in hand, quite comfortable with the physical contact. He wasn’t entirely sure where they were going, but this ‘secret reading place’ seemed to be promising. If he were to find a place to read silently, he wouldn’t be a burden on the crew. That and he’d be able to read with certain people if he were to bring them over.
“Did you have something in mind when bringing me here? Perhaps you’d wanna read an Idelvan folktale?”

yes (for the nonverbal meme!)
Nonverbals
“So… If you agree it doesn’t make sense… If we both don’t understand the question…” Cain’s staring at the page in front of him, the random word problem making absolute no sense in regards to what he’d learned in school.
“Do we just… Say it doesn’t make sense and move on?” Cain was about ready to slam the book closed and call it a day. A week even. If the two of them truly did agree that no answer made sense, then why bother trying, right?

"palm smack them upside the head." this is good
Nonverbals
“THAT’S NOT HOW YOU KISS SOMEONE, DUDE. COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR!”
And then, Cain smacks Gran back. He’s worked up, been baited by his own captain who had claimed ‘he wanted to give Cain a romantic gift’. He was hoping it was a kiss, or a hug, or something even better. But a smack upside his head was in no means romantic. And Cain being Cain had to retaliate against him.
His hand still raised, Cain frowns at his captain. “I should cancel our date for the night to teach you a lesson!”

aid + elta.
Nonverbals
“I appreciate the heals.” Cain gives them a wink, then proceeds to cut down the last enemy in front of them. He wasn’t much for attacking, but he figured if they were ‘training’, or turning it into a game, then it was for the best. He had been tasked with brushing up on his attack patterns so as not to ‘get rusty’. Danchou of little faith, apparently.
Feeling rather refreshed thanks to his helper, Cain tosses Elta an apple. “In return, ya must be hungry. Eat that. Really appreciated all the energy, y’know. But I’m kinda sorry Danchou told you to come with me. Guess that’s what I get for bein’ sleepy all the time, right? Ehehe.”

carry pick them up. - belial :)
Nonverbals
“Y-Yo! Foul, hey!”
Cain’s cheeks turn red immediately. This is supposed to be a friendly game of crew tag, and yet here they were, Cain having been caught. He… Didn’t think anybody wanted to actually get close to Belial during this game, and he’d made the mistake of doing so for better or worse.
Cain frowns, his punishment being carried like a ragdoll to who knows where? “P-Put me down! This isn’t how we play tag!” What was worse is the crew just *let* this happen. What would become of him now?

“Where I am from, many had chosen to revolt against the ones who had ruled before. It is why since then, I had not been experienced in traveling like this before. In a way...” he paused for a moment. “...I had lost many close to myself. Have you witnessed that before, captain?”
“Urk…”
There’s an unsettling feeling by what was described. A chill runs up Cain’s spine as his mind flashes back to his encounters with Pholia. Had he seen much in the way of revolt? Yes, sort of. He understood there were mass riots and mutinies in previous times, yet Idelva current wasn’t like that. There were resistant groups and those negative sentiments grew once Pholia had revealed what she’d kept from all Idelvans, and yet…
“S-Sort of, dude.” Cain replies, rather emotionless. He didn’t want the mood to damper, so he tries desperately not to think about it. “Why… Do you ask? Pretty sure everybody has or will one day or another, right? People are always going to be unsatisfied with the leading party… Sometimes it’s right, sometimes it isn’t.”

flamesent:
“Tch. It’s not practical for combat.” Percival returns with a glower, finding himself more irritated the more Cain seems even more energetic. Despite it all, Cain reminded Percival a little of Lamorak, who was just as energetic– no, scratch that. Cain has proven to be far more annoying. He almost hisses when Cain pretends to poke his chest again, but calms once he retracts.
“Yeah, seriously. That’s no way to communicate with a person it’s on the grounds for harassment more than anything,” Percival agrees with a sigh, but the idea he offered was actually more tolerable than anything else. Plus, considering how damn persistent this man was, Percival knew he had no choice but to accept the offer. “Oh? You have some history books on the subject? Well, it’d be a lie if I said I wasn’t interested.”
“Don’t be so sure you’re going to see me turn the color of my hair.”
Cain shrugs his shoulders, thinking that Percival wasn’t too bothered. If he was, he would have left already, right? Cain would make that assumption and just roll with it. He’s not gonna let the other’s ‘complaint’ dampen his spirits, even if... Yeah, he could possibly be harassing someone with his touching. He’d deal with that if he came across that problem later!
Cain simply nods, bounding over to a nearby chair with intense speed and energy. He would be lying if he said he wasn’t ready to enjoy himself. Cain pulls out a book from within his robe and holds it out to the lord of flames.
“We can start with this one. It’s a moderate level book on Idelvan art through the ages. I figured it’d be really nice to start with something not so grim. That can come after you get acquainted to the culture. I take it ya don’t really know much about us, as we didn’t know much about your skydom either?”
He then swings his feet up, being completely relaxed in the moment. He feels calm, yet completely ready to demonstrate some of the art in the book itself should he be asked. “I dunno, man. I’d say I can make anybody blush if I really tried hard enough. We Idelvans are quite good at being mischievous as you might find out.” Really that was a lie. It was mostly Cain that was a great schemer and mischievous imp.
