i identify cats in posts. if you want someone who's better at it and did it first, go check out @whatcoloristhatcat. i am not a professional and i fuck up sometimes. i made this blog because i would have otherwise had to start killingask box is open. i'll happily ID pictures, videos, drawings, or whatever else you've got with a cat in it!(i will not ID cats who have already been IDed unless I haven't seen the other post. please respect that I'm not going to scroll through all the reblogs on every cat picture to see if someone has already done it)

Red classic tabby; red mackerel tabby
My cats wanted to fight again and I wasn't letting them but the passion in their eye contact suggests they started fighting telepathically

Black spotted tabby Egyptian Mau; statue is likely intended to represent a black ticked tabby, though the pattern/color is obviously not visible to be identified (for instance, a more recent statue may have been based on a spotted, broken mackerel, or mackerel pattern, or possibly even self)

my ancient mama
#the statue is representative of one stage in the transition between African wildcat and early Egyptian Mau depending on when it was made#if it’s older it may represent the semi-domesticated wildcat#if it’s newer it may represent the fully domesticated forerunner to the modern Egyptian Mau (and all modern domestic cats)#impossible to tell since there is no pattern visible but the vast majority of cats over the course of Ancient Egypt’s empires were#black based tabbies of some type with the short coat and semi-foreign build you see here in both cats#I’m afraid I don’t know the exact timeline of the development of certain alleles nor do I know when this statue was made#so all this is only an assumption. The actual kitten I know for sure though#black spotted tabby#spotted tabby#ticked tabby#black ticked tabby#identified cat

Note

black golden spotted tabby longhair Scottish Fold with heavy shading and moderate white spotting (tuxedo bicolor pattern; nonstandard, with the addition of a mask)
Why is this called "poorly identifying cats" when you always correctly identify them?
unlike my superior counterpart @identifyingcatsinposts I do not provide specifics about the kind of cat that it is, just if it is one or not
#black golden tabby#spotted tabby#tuxedo bicolor#bicolor#tabby bicolor#golden bicolor#identified cat#hard to tell the difference between broken mackerel and spotted on longhairs but I’m reasonably confident
