Mightyena Astral Radiance

Happy Valentine's Day! Maybe I could have tried to find a nice Luvdisc or Alomomola card, or maybe one where Pokemon are being sweet with each other, but there's many forms of love a card could portray, and how can you not love this art? My heart melts seeing a trainer like Sydney showing so much love for one of his Pokemon!

In the games, the Dark type trainer Sydney isn't really a tough guy, but he is pretty energetic and always looking for a fight! He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would show much tenderness though, I mean, look at him here! He's so bashful about this sign of affection he's even blushing, such an expression of love might not come easy to him but he adores that Pokemon so much he has to show it! It's these behind the scenes moments that make Pokemon trainers feel like they really love their Pokemon like you would a pet.

I mean, just look at what Sydney got for the Mightyena! The little bone shaped biscuits, plus some Poke Ball and Voltorb ones too? Cute, but I bet Mightyena gets lots of treats for fighting well in battle. But here, they're just a side dish! The really proof of how much Sydney cares for this Mightyena is that elaborate cake shaped like a Mightyena head! Not only does it have a few little extra sweets on the same platter, but it's got some extra sprinkles on the back! That's the kind of extra touch that makes it feel even more special! Looking at the scene, it seems we might be in some specialty shop, the duo here sitting in a corner booth. I bet this is right after the employee delivered this unique order to the table! Do you think the Mightyena cake was a custom order, or something on the menu? Either way, Sydney probably learned about this place, and despite it being out of his normal wheelhouse, he knew he had to take his Mightyena there to remind it how much he cares for it!

And I've danced around it long enough… Look at that expression of joy on Mightyena! It's absolutely dazzled by such an unexpected treat! Paws on the table, eyes wide, the mouth agape, even the little sparkles… so much happiness on its face! Mightyena is based on a hyena but looks a lot like a dog too, and I've been trying to avoid using any dog-related words so far to be biologically accurate… but look at it! How can I not call him a good boy? He's a wonderful pupper! A precious pooch! Sydney definitely came up with something that his Mightyena absolutely adores!

What an adorable way to show appreciation for your Pokemon. And speaking of appreciating, I'd like to take this day to thank you! Whether this is the first card critique you read, or if you liked and reblogged other ones! I light up when I see people enjoy what I'm writing, and I really enjoy the tags people add to the reblogs! I don't know how to respond or like them properly, I wish I knew tumblr better, but I love seeing them and I hope you love seeing my little posts appreciating Pokemon cards with wonderful art!
