I get to be more free as an adult than I ever did as a child and I think more kids need to know that. as a high schooler part of what made my depression so bad was being told over and over again that it was the most carefree time of my life. while I was trapped in an abusive home + amongst bullies at school + in a body that wasn’t right for me. opportunities to be carefree don’t end when you turn 18. you can be more you than ever as an adult and that’s such a gift. I know ‘it can get better’ is an annoying thing to see over and over when you’re as trapped as I was back then. and I know that if you’re still a kid you deserve to be free right this second. but it can and will get better and this is not where life stops being interesting. promise

I was gonna make a joke about how I say “I need to go the circus again” the way people used to say they need to go to the sea to balance their humors. But I realized the circus balances humors too

It's funny how when you're a kid you see your parents and their friends in their 30s and think wow these are grownups, I guess I become grownup at some point. but now you're 30 and you do things like ride on the front handlebars of your friend's bike at midnight on a rainy Brooklyn street or make dumbass music and side to side into people one night a week and like. You don't have to be grown up at all really you can just do this forever

Note
what term would you use for "oppression specifically for the combined experiences of being both CAFAB and trans."? if you believe this is a real thing that warrants mention, what do you think is the correct way to discuss it?
misogyny + transphobia + oppositional sexism + frequently also lesbophobia. which are all class-based systems of oppression that work to regulate people on a systemic level

now having bitched about that i do want to say that i think it's important that people who want to and are trying to gain weight have space to talk about it bc it does a lot to push back against the default background noise on weight gain only ever being a negative and uncontrollable process. when a friend starts looking glowy and more at ease with some additional weight on them or when somebody excitedly talks about managing to eat consistently and gain 20 pounds it makes me smile and it feels like a push against the constant slog of weight loss encouragement and every fear i've ever had about getting or staying fat. weight gain and getting bigger aren't choices for everyone, but that doesn't mean it's not something to celebrate for those striving towards it; fatness cannot be condemned to only ever be neutral-at-best. if you're trying to gain weight i'm wishing the best for you and i hope you get to eat something phenomenal today
