no, firing 5000 rockets on civilians and then brutally murdering, torturing, and raping hundreds of people is not defensible. it is not fighting back against an occupation, it is a sadistic massacre. i hate that it has to be discussed, since the killing of 30,000 people really is more important, but seeing people genuinely defend “fighting the occupier by any means necessary” makes me feel awful. i understand what you’re trying to say, but there’s a line somewhere, and the events of october 7th crossed that line in every conceivable way. yes, the actions of the idf have caused far more destruction and death and suffering, but you can’t call civilian deaths justifiable. ever. the actions of hamas do not justify the slaughter of the palestinian people, but they’ve undeniably committed atrocities on a mass scale as well.
listen to me. these people are not your friends. if you met them, the views of the average hamas fighter would horrify you. the point is, that doesn’t matter. their lives must be defended, simply on the basis of their humanity. photoshopping cats into fighter uniforms or posting videos of militants acting normally just betrays a feeling that you HAVE TO be able to relate to someone on a personal level to defend their right to life. that’s honestly terrifying.

saying that “every zionist should kill themself and make it hurt” is not a good way to stand against the death of innocent people. you just want to hate people and cloak it in what now passes as progressive language.
