Thinking about how I actually intend to write Severus. I always felt that his dialogue was very bare bones, and even though that’s because he’s a background character and not that much thought was likely put into him, I’m going to use it as an example of him just wanting to get the conversation with the courier over with as possible. Even the question of “What is this place?” being answered with “A Legion outpost. What’s it look like?”, feels very much like he would rather be doing anything than having a conversation with the courier (obviously could be up to interpretation).

Also when I say I want to write his as more shy and nervous, I mean in the uptight, cautious former soldier way. His confidence level on the wiki is listed as ‘Brave’, so I have a hard time imagining him avoiding or running away from fights. That said, new situations and human interaction outside of standard Legion military routine could be a completely different ballpark. That said, based on his legion name I think he would have been a very dedicated but very ‘stick to the rules at all costs’ type soldier. That also makes him leaving the Legion in my AU more interesting to me (I’ll explain that in a different post).
