This episode really was even more evidence that Eddie might be a single dad, but he hasn't been parenting Christopher by himself for a long time.

They set the stage for Buck as Eddie's co-parent in 7x01 when Eddie asked Buck to talk to Chris about girls. They've intentionally been laying the foundation for Buck as Eddie's co-parent since they moved networks. I'd argue they've been doing it for much longer, but I think they've been much more explicit about it since they moved to ABC.

Eddie called Buck when Christopher wouldn't open the door. He said, "What you always do, talk to him."

The four FaceTime calls have all had at least one moment where Buck either reaffirmed Eddie's choices or reminded him about his priorities or helped him work through a situation about parenting.

They've really set them up as partners in and out of the field and it's just getting more obvious with every episode. The episodes in El Paso have been the most obvious in the shift because it isn't just a conversation on a shift, it's Eddie and Buck intentionally calling each other to talk and for advice.

Like why do you think she specifically uses ‘dandelion in the spring’? The one connection they had before the games.

To me, she was able to sort out her feelings for Peeta, even the ones before the games. like not only is she saying why she had fallen for Peeta, why she needs him, but she's going “Yeah I felt something before the games.” like not romantic love, but something.
