Not going by the dnd rule book here, but here are some more Artificer Perceptor headcanons:

But, Perceptor definitely did start off as an artificer/wizard. Filled with curiosity and excitement. He came from a long line of wizards. He was probably even the most gifted with magic when it came to learning it.

He was very well known too! He would discover or create more magic abilities. He'd even put on a little show for the kids.

But when he was left for dead one day during a war, he ALMOST completely dropped the wizard side of him. As he thought that part of himself was too naive. He was a bit vengeful, too. He hated the general who left him for dead, used him for his knowledge and abilities, but abandoned him them moment he was gravelly injured. That's when he picked up on being an artificer/rogue.

And boy, did he go after that general. He had that general internally shaking in his boots. When Perceptor does get his hands on him, he says something along the lines of: "How does it feel? To be scared, alone, in pain. It feels horrifying, does it? Well, that's how the people felt when you failed to protect them. That's how I felt when you left me in my puddle of blood." His voice is so quiet and smoothe when he says that. He doesn't kill the guy, but he does make sure to give him the same injury to the chest and leave him there.

Perceptor is definitely wanted in that area, so he never visits it. His mission was to make that general feel guilty and physical pain. It worked since the guy stepped down as soon as he had the chance. Then Kup found him and asked him to join his group, and he did for quite a few years. Eventually, though, he did want to live comfortably somewhere. He didn't want to keep living the wrecker life as a past part of him still yearned for peace. So, after the wreckers disbanded, he just wandered aimlessly until he found a kingdom he'd like to live in. Which is Rodimus' kingdom!

He was pretty upfront with Rodimus as to why he was wanted in the other kingdom. Rodimus' response was: "Oh, them? Pffft, we hate those guys anyway. I mean, I'm surprised it didn't destroy itself like that one kingdom over in the North-East!" (He's talking about Prowl)

So, he got to live his life fairly comfortably and works for Rodimus as the leading artificer.

Now, after meeting his spouse and getting comfortable with them, it's safe to say that these two are almost inseparable. Perceptor lets the flip through his old notes, and they connect the dots realizing: "Oooooh! He used to be a wizard!!" They thought his name looked familiar, but they didn't want to assume anything.

He would take a little break and perform some magic for them. Seeing their eyes light up with excitement made his heart swell. He never realized how much he missed being a wizard until this moment.

Sometimes, they be cuddled up together, and he'll cast small and harmless spells. He'll even show them how to cast it themselves. His spouse tends to fall asleep, not because it's boring, but because his voice is so soft and gentle. Just him talking is enough to lull them to sleep... He does this in purpose sometimes when they have trouble sleeping.

It's these moments that actually motivate him into becoming a wizard again. He may never be his old self again, but he has someone who loves him for who is now. He goes back and reads ALL of his old notes for refreshers. His spouse sat in his slap, nestled their face into his neck, and slept when he did this. It was clear he wasn't coming to bed.

While this is great and all, his spouse didn't realize how much magic he would use against THEM to make them rest after getting injured. Before this, they just had to outrun him, wasn't easy, but doable. But to add magic? They're done for, they didn't even reach the front door. At least they get some cuddles after he tucks them back into bed.

His spouse pretty much knows Perceptors past. Again, he would be upfront about it, so they know what he is capable of.

What's funny about this whole thing, though, is that his spouse probably met the general once or twice, and they're just gushing about Perceptor. The general is just standing there with a thousandyard stare. Then, they just slam the door in their face, leaving them confused. Bro did NOT want to hear about that man ever again. And no, the spouse does not realize that was the former general who Perceptor folded like a lawn chair.

more selkie stuff. thought abt it some more, i think prowl taking your coat works best with a certain foundation. like if he knew you as a 'human' first, getting attached and then found out about the coat. if he did take it he would try to convince himself hes in the right, that keeping you by his side is how he can look after you best. the fact that he'd be lonely without you has nothing to do with it of course.

maybe the selkie doesn't even want to leave him but the fact they have the ability to concerns him, bc yknow. trust issues ahoy

it feels less believable for him to take the coat if he knew them in seal form first. in my mind he would see that as the 'default' state, so to keep them as a human he would have to be really emotionally invested + paranoid/overprotective.

i prefer meeting as a selkie (and fluff over angst)so i'm gonna shelve the coat taking idea in my mind for now

on that note, i thought of something i like more for human prowl and selkie: wearing his clothes! its one of my fav tropes and we miss out on that when he's a bot lol. and the added layer of a selkie, who could view sharing clothes as trusting even if they know it likely doesn't mean the same to a human. first offers you something of his to wear bc you can just walk around naked. then he tries to get you your own clothes but u only want his. making a nest out of his clothes and him grumbling bc he just ironed those shirts dammit.

ah yes, I actually did more research on selkie (WHY IS THERE ONLY ONE SITE THATS RELIABLE???) and uh the entire folklore was,,, kind of grim? 😭 The underlying message especially,,,,was king of grim and I would have to agree choosing fluff over angst 😌 the coat thing was kind of angsty and I would imagine prowl doing a hefty amount of research for his conclusions to come to that (hiding the cloak deliberately so selkie comes after him)

I've had enough of giving prowl angst lmao (maybe that coat thing could have other uses...)

But gosh!!

Prowl meeting a seal, unaware of it's true form. It's big eyes and doleful look adorable to the many — but to him, it's an obstacle because currently the seal is trying to drag him into the water, flapping it's tail to splash the at him and he's all but clawing himself to the shore.

Oh but the stealing clothes idea was so adorable!!! Him buying a full set of clothes only for you to strip out of it later because it didn't have his scent and he finds you smooshed in his closet. Prowl is at his wits end.....

I should also start writing and stop procrastinating 😔✊ you are giving me such good ideas. Giving myself a deadline till the end of may for this mermay fic 😮‍💨

He would!! With every step it's creaky. It is so hard to sneak out. Yet he somehow moves throughout the house quietly. All his partner hears is him clearing his throat right behind them.

At that point, he uses a spell to keep the blanket securely wrapped around them while he goes and works on stuff. 🤣

And if you ever have ideas for this au for other characters, I wouldn't mind hearing them!

Also, He would be the type to give you a stern look if you're doing something he doesn't want you to do. Prowl will vocalize it. Percy will give a warning look. He's already dealing with Rodimus, and he refuses to have you on the problem list under Rodimus' name 😂

I was actually thinking about Perceptor recently!

Perceptor strikes me as someone who is an artificer. He combines his inventions and magic. He would also have a second class, possibly a rogue? (I say this because he is a sniper) Or a wizard (He got that strong aim game if so)

Percy very much keeps himself holed up in his own home. He used to be talkative and such, that is, until he was left for dead one day. He hadn't trusted anyone since then besides a few people (Brainstorm, Nautica, Drift, Kup, Varity, and Kup). He does go outside to get some sunshine, and people in the kingdom he leaves in know better to let him be. If they really need his help, they know he's there, but in the meantime, they let him create and perform experiments in peace.

His appearance is pretty much known for his tired eyes and stoic expression, as well as also known for having a cold attitude. He doesn't always mean to be cold, but he's got things to do and stuff to sort out.

His spouse probably worked as a courier at that time when they first met. They were always delivering stuff to him. Whether it be letters, items, tools, small experiments from a village nearby, etc. His address became ingrained into their memory. As soon as they see his name, they hop on their horse and hurry out.

While they think Perceptor probably doesn't know their name... He knows. He knows their name, their favorite color, their favorite animal, their class, their birthday, and even what their horses' name is. No, he didn't snoop, but he does pay close attention to their brief conversations. If he's being honest, they probably brighten his day when he sees them. He is so used to seeing the same faces. Seeing a newer one does piqued interest in him.

He definitely does invent stronger and lighter weapons for them. He knows quite well that the roads are dangerous. And after a certain kingdom fell a decade ago... The roads have gotten a little worse. And he doesn't necessarily trust a certain Oathbreaker who is seen constantly out there. Not because he thinks he's evil, but his history.... Yeah...

The one time his spouse shows up injured, he would immediately shoo them inside his home. Demanding to know what happened, how it happened, and why it happened.

And boy, was he in for a shock when he later realizes down the road about how much he loves them. He almost didn't believe it himself. But of course, Nautica pointed out every single thing he does and feels, which he knows better than to deny evidence.

And his courting is quite soft. He's actually a great artist due to the fact that he needs to draw things out. So he'll draw their face on a piece of paper or draw their horse. Sometimes, both with the spouse sitting atop the horse. He'll even make them some food for their travels. He even shares his bed with them when they are in need of rest, something he would never just do for anybody.

Now, when they are married. He for once sleeps in. He does not want to miss a moment with them. Perceptor knows he's a busy body, but he wants to cherish his mornings with them.

He often holds their face, studying their features over and over again. Then he would let go and return to whatever he was doing. He always left his spouse puzzled. Why he does this? No one knows. Probably because he thinks they're the most beautiful/handsome person to ever exist.

He will not let them leave without a kiss. If they try, he will grab them by the back of their coat and pull them back, and give them a kiss wherever he can on their face. And goodnight kisses, too. They can be fast asleep, and he'll still love on them before he goes to sleep.

He also does have a bit of a past himself. But I'll go more in-depth about that once I thought him up more thoroughly
