since you lived in greece, I am wondering what was the moving process like for moving abroad when all your stuff was in norway? Did you just leave it all there and packed necessities like clothes etc.? or did you travel by plane or car?
I just moved with one suitcase of clothes + my laptop and drawing tablet. It was only a temporary thing anyway, so I didn't care to bring a lot of stuff I knew I wouldn't need. One suitcase + one small backpack under the seat on the airplane there 🙏 didn't miss a thing
I have lived several different places by now through my studies as well, and don't really need a lot of stuff as long as the apartment/place is furnished. And I'm lucky that most of my bigger stuff can stay at my parents' place until I settle permanently ✨
#not hetalia#moving is always fun!#though a permanent place is def the goal 😅#need a place for all my mugs tea and books

Probably this is just me but Norway’s vibe is weirdly immaculate. Like he’s the type of guy you’d kinda be intimidated by before actually getting to know him, but once you know him he’s actually really nice and cool like damn..
And he has this introverted emo vibe but also like so chill and down to earth also nature kid at the same time, or is that how Norwegians are lol and he’s just the living embodiment of one
based on how other nations experience Norwegians, it would seem that this is simply how it is lol
#hetalia#aph norway#hws norway#thank you for the ask!!! 🥰🥰#finally have some inspiration again ✨#and I watch too many videos about foreigners in Norway 😅😅😅#cultural differences are always interesting 🙏

It is obligatory to make fun of the Swedes 🙏
Recently saw a new trøndersk musical, Tullingdal the Musical, where some Swedes want to establish a ballet academy up in the mountains ✨ ofc they are ridiculous
#hetalia#aph sweden#hws sweden#tullingdal the musical#honestly loved the music of the musical - something vømmøl-esc over it#and the plot was very funny#but the editing and cuts of the movie was horrible#if they'd had a better production it would be an iconic piece#still potential of a cult classic tho#and so many trønderske talents 😭🙏

Idk if this is a ship anyone has even thought about like ever but...romanor? (romano x norway, honestly what would their ship name even be??) you don’t have to draw anything if you don’t wanna! Just wanna know your opinions about it😊🙈
I hope 1,5 years is an acceptable time to spend on an ask 🫠
I've seen some Normano going around recently and the football match today finally gave me some inspiration to dig out this ask from the bottom of my inbox ✨
There's not a lot of historical stuff to go on due to both of their complicated history. They might have dealt with each other in regard of religion - Catholicism - before Norway's forced conversion in 1537.
In modern times Italy is a poplar holiday destination, though this could be said about any country as Italy is in general a very popular tourist destination.
I think they'd clash a bit culturally as Norway prefers to be more structured and effective and lead a generally active life with sports and physical activity while Romano is more relaxed and chill and perhaps not eager to climb a mountain first thing in the morning.
They do share a love of coffee though and I imagine could have some awkward coffee dates when Romano is still a bit intimidated by Norway, but if they get to know each other better Roma can loosen up and do the talking for both of them ✨
I don't have a lot opinions on the ship since I have not really looked into it a lot, and it is missing that historical touch I prefer with my ships, but I am easy to convince with good content and arguments 🥰
#hetalia#romanor#normano#norroma#aph norway#aph romano#hws norway#hws romano#thanks for the ask!! 🙃🙃🙃 sorry for the long wait#also!!! the game today????#Norway winning 3-0 over Italy?? In football???#surely we are going to VM now

I have recently been made aware that Swedish people make up weird words and claim they are Norwegian or that we use them in Norway??
Gulebøy (Yellow bend) is supposedly the Norwegian word for banana. Panglys (Bang light) is the word for fireworks and Tallefjant (???) is squirrel.
Looking into it, it seems like it started as a joke the Swedes made about how Norway creates new words for new concepts instead of using a foreign word. An example is snøbrett instead of "snowboard" - though a lot of Norwegians will still use the foreign word in daily talk.
Still, it seems like a lot of Swedes are not aware that this is a joke and genuinely believes these are Norwegian words 😭 I know this is probably lost on people who don't speak Norwegian or Swedish, but these words just sound ridiculous
#hetalia#aph sweden#aph norway#hws sweden#hws norway#I have heard Gulebøy before but I never understood what the joke was#I think swedes will say this word to norwegians a lot#because there seemed to be a confusion where norwegians just thought Gulebøy was the swedish word for banana 😭

This probably so random but like considering how old some nations are, do you think the nordics like smoke or not? Are they the type to do that do you think or are they more drinkers? Iceland kinda gives vape teen vibes ngl lmao
Good question!
Considering them being centuries old, I imagine they have tried most of it at some point - all of them being smokers between the 1940s and the 1990s. After this, there was a lot more focus on a healthy lifestyle and that smoking was bad for you, so the society has changed in that regard. Apart from maybe Iceland, they are still all mostly drinkers, not smokers.
Norway especially is a bit obsessed with "living healthy". He always goes on runs and stays active throughout the day, so he has given up smoking completely and have not smoked in at least two decades now. His main vice now is energy drinks 😅
Sweden has mostly given up smoking as well, but nothing can make him quit snus 🙈 He always has a box on him.
You already established that Iceland vapes - typical teenage behaviour 🙏
Denmark and Finland don't really smoke daily, but they are social smokers and will have a cigarette at a party or when they are out with friends who also smoke. Denmark hangs out with Netherlands a lot, so you could probably say he is a consistent smoker, but he still insists it's only in "social circumstances". Too bad he is very social 🤷

What was it like living and working in greece?
Both good and bad!
As I'm sure with anyone who moves abroad, it requires a lot of paperwork and admin to get everything sorted out. I had some issues with this - getting a Greek bank account specifically, and ended up just using my Norwegian one.
I also had some issues finding a place to stay and getting a housing contract - and paying my entire rent in cash each month was a new experience for me 😅
Since my contract was "working from home" I also struggled a bit to meet my coworkers outside of work - the public transport was on a winter schedule and I'd have to walk a fair bit to get there. I once walked to entire way to my friend's place and it took me just under 2 hours.
But I also had a lot of good experiences! I was very lucky with visits from friends and family, which made it possible to rent a car and go sightsee a bit more of the island 🥰 I got to see a lot of cool archaeological stuff and other cultural things like the olive production.
It took some effort to get used to a much more laid-back style of living, and tbh it stressed me out a bit (especially when my landlord ghosted me for 3 weeks - twice), but I believe I have learnt from it. Overall it was a valuable experience and I am happy I did it, but I am also looking forward spending some time in Norway now ✨
#hetalia#aph norway#aph greece#hws norway#hws greece#thanks for the ask!! 💖💖#I don't know whether I or Greece am to blame for my bad experiences there#my friends tell me it is mostly Greece 😅#and thank youuu Jezz for visiting me 🥺 first time we meet and it's in Greece lol#so weird being back home - feels like I haven't been gone at all#I'm a bit interested in moving to a different country soon tho - I really enjoyed Glasgow and Orkney when I lived there#so it might just be me and Greece not vibing entirely#UK feel a lot more similar to Norway as well - so it might be that#who knows what I'll do next 🤷 not me

I have gotten some questions about the link for these movies, and after some investigating it seems that the provider I used changed their policies after I uploaded the videos. Their capacity is now less - instead of 4 videos I can now only upload 2 - and I am unable to share a link to them...
After some further investigating about free online storage I have found no good solution :// The free capacity of most providers will only allow me to upload one video at most, and I am not interested in generating 4 different email addresses to sign up multiple times and then spend hours uploading all the videos and then sharing each individual link 😅
As a temporary solution I have made a google drive and uploaded one of the movies there if people wish to view it. I can then, upon request, remove it and upload a different one if that is desirable. Just lmk, send me a message or an ask and I'll change it.
It is not a perfect solution, but it is the most manageable one for me atm.
You can now find one Kaptein Sabeltann movie with English subs here.
Captain Sabeltann (eng sub)
The time has finally come. I have now subbed all three shows of Kaptein Sabeltann on NRK in English. This has taken about as long as I suspected and I don't even know if people will watch them, but I had a lot of fun doing it 🥰✨ 🏴☠️
Here is the link to a drive with the shows. Edit: the link is not working because the drive host changed their policies :((( sorry
A little about the shows and which order to watch them in:
"Captain Sabeltann and Gory Gabriel's Treasure"
Captain Sabeltann and his crew travels to Kjuttaviga where Pinky is sent ashore to spy on the people there to find out where Gory Gabriel's treasure is hidden.
2. "Captain Sabeltann and the Magical Diamond"
Captain Sabeltann and his crew goes to Shangri-La in the search for the Magical Diamond, a diamond that can fulfill wishes, but the evil Maga Khan is also on the hunt for the diamond. A small boy, Marco, has stolen the diamond in an effort to keep it away from Maga Khan and his queen.
3. "Captain Sabeltann and the Enchanted Island"
Captain Sabeltann and his crew has been plundering the island of Gral and stolen the Golden Tiger from the Count of Gral. The witch Miriam of Gral was supposed to guard the treasures of the Count, but the Count punishes her for failing and starts scheming to take revenge on Captain Sabeltann and his crew.
#not hetalia#kaptein sabeltann#or I could host movie nights ig 🤔#trying hard to create a norwegian movie collection here since they are difficult to find online and subbed#OR I could buy some usb sticks and mail them to you physically 🤔 /j#Movie nr 1 is the one in the drive now btw#I also subbed the animated movie from 2019 - so I have that one available as well#the animated movie was not included in the previous upload

Difficult question!
Most of those words that would be equivalent to "bro" are slang and would perhaps only be used in certain sociological settings or with a certain group of people.
Kompis is more like "mate", so it is not a direct translation - perhaps a bit more informal and low-key, but it could definitely work in the correct context!
Brorsan would be the most literal equivalent, but I could never picture norway calling denmark that. It is very informal and used mostly by younger people (apparently it is also swedish).
The people I hang around don't really use any sort of nicknames like these, so it's a bit difficult to relate to. I can't decide whether we're the exception or the norm here, and if there are regional differences or not 😅 Kis is perhaps used a bit, but again very informal. I've personally been called sjef (boss) more recently, but not commonly.
I don't know if we have a great focus on names like these in Norway? Any other Norwegians who can help out?
wonder if there's a good norwegian equivalent to "anko"
i like norway calling denmark anko as its "bro" but a reference to denmarks red motif
but i also prefer them calling each other names from their own languages
