Green had to restrain a wince at the expressed sympathies. He didn't need them, really. He'd way gotten over the fact that he wasn't the Champion anymore, and didn't even want to be. He was happy with the occupation he had now: as a gym leader.

Who, you know, was never at the gym.

It still counted, right?

He nodded in approval at the spirit that Ash was showing. It would be very good of him to keep to those ideals, to do what he could in order to keep his dreams in tip-top shape, while at the same time enjoying the journey. And, judging from his Pokémon, it wasn't an ideal that Ash needed to actually learn.

A huff left the ex-Champion as Ash wound himself up over seeing his Pokémon. Honestly, who could blame him? "Well, not ta brag, but I got some big puppies in here," he said, his voice with an exaggerated casual tone. To complete his little pun, Green drew out a Poké Ball and out from it emerged an Arcanine. Eevee sighed, which was her way of groaning, but Green wasn't deterred, and neither was Arcanine apparently as he started wagging his tail. "Here's one of 'em. Y'can give him a pet, if ya want."

Ash blinked a little — wow, this guy seemed… kind of bitter about his title. Maybe it was the reason why he had given it up… He frowned when Green mentioned a kid named Red — he had been stripped that fast? His face fell in sudden sympathy, feeling his heart and gut sink at that. “Oh… wow… that sounds rough either way… especially being beaten after winning it all.” He couldn’t even imagine. He’d want to at least enjoy his title for a while… Green spoke again, stating how he had taken up the championship once Red left. “Who runs it now, then?” he mumbled. He couldn’t help but wonder. Lance?

He nodded and rubbed his chin as Green’s words sunk in. “Yeah, that’s what I wanna do,” he responded truthfully, but he couldn’t help but nod and grin at that. “Well… I think I’ve got a long ways to go, but I’m treasuring every moment with my Pokemon and my friends!” Pikachu cooed in agreement, tilting his head to the side when Green moved to pet his Eevee. 

"Gary, the guy you look like… he was my rival way back when I was still starting out, he’d do the same thing. You guys really must be long lost siblings or something…" He then looked nothing short of excited at the prospect of seeing Green’s team. "Wow, really?! You’d show me?! That’d be awesome!" he laughed, his eyes wide. "I love seeing other trainers’ Pokemon…"

Well, I did meet a fangirl while travelin' Kalos recently. That was fun.

"Oh?" So this kid was from the Kanto region? Green hadn't ever seen her before, but it would explain why she knew him. "Why'dja leave?" Kalos was a nice region, but his own home region wasn't too shabby, either. It didn't make sense she'd go before getting her starter, at least.

Sky blushed a bit after hearing the compliment. “Ah, t-thanks…! Well, I’m from Kanto, but I never got the chance to really do anything while I was there…”  she explained, looking off to the side a little. Sky gave a soft sigh, shrugging a bit before looking back at Green.

If you’re Green, then you’re sure to be an incredibly strong trainer which means we need all the firepower we can get. Besides, you’re one of the two only mes I know.

"Wow! Good goin', kid." Green grinned. "So I'm guessin' ya haven't tried yer hand at the other regions yet?" A little advertising for Kanto didn't hurt anybody, and it would be nice to see some fresh blood around. It was great traveling out of town, but he knew he needed to head back soon if only to quell the worries of a certain Red's mother.

"Ah, badges! Right…" she went through her bag, pulling out her badge case to show the gym leader. "I have all of them. It was… Really easy. I-I don’t know if it’s easy for everyone else, or if other regions are harder, but… Y-Yeah." Sky gave a shy smile.

How did the police not notice some big criminal organization killing Pokémon?

...okay so maybe I'm a little bitter about somethin'.

Dunno how it worked for you, but for us there was some thing about regions joining some league of the gym leaders and that's how people find out about the other regions or something like that, I don't even know. It's confusing and I don't make any of those decisions.

All I do is bully Claire.

speaking of how did we not know about other regions before. why is it that when johto was discovered there was suddenly a metrorail connecting it to kanto. whats going on here
