Pre-wilderness Kiera could never hurt a fly, in fact she was a vegan before the crash. Though in order to survive, Kir had to learn to stomach eating animals. And people.

She refused to eat Jackie, instead hiding inside the cabin and attempting to ignore her hunger. But it grew as the winter stretched on.

Despite being a terrible shot, partly due to the injury she suffered in the crash, she went out with Nat and Travis to hunt in an attempt to take her mind off her hunger. Hungry and desperate, she stumbles upon a small hare hiding in a hole. Overtaken by the emptiness in her stomach, Kir catches the hare and cuts it open, feasting on it right then and there.
