Am I supposed to put her next to the rest of them? Kaidan’s having a beer, for chrissake. Everyone else is just hanging out, and then there’s Shepard, slowly suffocating in the empty void of space, captured in loving detail in the worst moment of her life.

the way garrus vakarian feels so deeply, truly angry at injustice, like it actually wounds him, and doesn’t understand how other people can sit still whilst it happens? the way garrus vakarian doesn’t know how to deal with his increasingly complicated and difficult feelings about family and expectations and instead just runs away? the way garrus vakarian thought abandoning all responsibilities to become a vigilante in a rundown shit hole, acknowledging that he’d most probably die exhausted, alone, barricaded in his own home whilst every crook and scumbag tried to break his door down, he thought that was a good idea? the way garrus vakarian enthusiastically throws himself into suicide mission after suicide mission on the Normandy to the point that without shepard he has to design his own one? the way garrus vakarian says ‘I just want something to go right in my life’ as if he’s unable to see all his qualities, his abilities, and achievements as anything but inadequate, as failures?

I know it’s just a coincidence but Garrus is always the party member that calls out when my Shepard’s been hurt during a fight & I’m like ???? Baby I know I’m hurt, how do you know & then I remember that he has her vitals tagged in his visor & then I remember that that means he was the first one to know Shepard suffocated in the vacuum of space when the Normandy exploded

My friend and I just played the mass effect series for the first time and have been sending each other recordings of our respective romance paths because I did Kaidan and she did Garrus, and while I love both, here’s what absolutely wrecked me about Shepard leaving Kaidan on the Normandy and pushing forward.

What Kaidan says to romanced Shepard was different than Garrus’s version. Garrus insisted he was going with her before finally relenting. Kaidan said “Don’t leave me behind.”

The last time Shepard went off without Kaidan, she died. And I have a feeling “don’t leave me behind” means more than leaving him there on the Normandy. It means “don’t leave me to live on without you.” And when Shepard asks Garrus to take care of him, I think it means for more than just that moment - it’s for what will happen to Kaidan when she doesn’t return.

reasons the first mass effect game is feral

you can dress your squad in matching pink and white armor

you can force a man to give you an omnitool you might not be able to use

when you land on a planet you literally just drive ur tank out the back end of the normandy and hope you land on all four wheels 

sometimes the mako gets stuck on a rock and then u have the restart the entire mission

the implication that you are driving up an almost 90 degree cliff sheer with three people in it

your boss/dad punches people to commit treason and then you can nominate him to be all of humanity’s representative

you can just call the council and hang up on them and the fact that the devs know people did that is referenced in the games after 

“the colonists don’t know what they’re doing throw these neutralizing grenades at them instead. punching them also works.”

the fact that to get from ilos to the citadel u drive ur terrible space truck directly into a mass relay and it FLINGS you at the citadel like a slingshot 

mass effect 2 and 3 are also kinda feral in their own ways but they’re like please do these organized missions and help ur friends and we have a special shuttle to take u everywhere and later we have a guy who will actually fly you places and help you and everyone knows you by name but in mass effect 1 you talk to people and they’re just like who the fuck r u loser and then you let the rachni queen go

EA is currently having a Player Appreciation Sale. in Origin at least lots of games are discounted, some up to 90% off. there’s plenty others on sale too but sir this is a bioware game blog so that’s what I post hh
