afraid to jinx it
here’s something i wrote at like 4am. it’s small and domestic-ish? it’s lowkey inspired by snow on the beach. idk hope you enjoy !
daya didn’t want to move. she was too scared to.
her eyes were trained on the tv screen, watching as sandy and danny sit at a diner. daya had told bosco she had never seen grease before, which prompted the blonde to immediately drop what they were doing and go to daya’s apartment, wordlessly turning on the musical and sitting on the couch, arms open for daya.
though daya wasn’t really in the mood to sit and watch a movie, she’d never pass up the opportunity to spend time with bosco, let alone cuddle with them.
so, now she found herself unable to move, wrapped up in bosco’s arms. her head was against their chest, hearing their heart beat steadily, feeling their chest rise and fall as they breathed. the room was dim, the light from the kitchen barely lighting up their surroundings with the tv doing most of the work. bosco would occasionally rub their hand up and down daya’s arm, rest their cheek on the brown hair, or even run their fingers through it. that was daya’s favorite.
it was nice. so nice.
“hey, do you have any of that ice cream left?”
the question jolted daya from her thoughts. “oh, uh, yeah. not a lot, so you can have the rest. i have to go to the store tomorrow anyway.”
bosco grinned and got up, much to daya’s dismay. her back was so cold now, she felt bare. the bubble had been broken. she watched as bosco entered the kitchen and opened the freezer, grabbing the carton of sugar-free vanilla ice cream daya always had in her freezer. bosco didn’t really like sugar-free things but was always willing to try them for daya’s sake, and the sugar-free ice cream had been a successful taste for bosco. they were starting to prefer it over regular vanilla ice cream.
the blonde came back with the carton and two spoons, a small smile on their face. they set the carton and spoons on the arm of the couch, using their now free hands to grab daya’s waist and pull her to sit on their lap. daya’s heart started to beat a bit faster at the closer proximity she and bosco were at. she swallowed the lump in her throat, watching bosco grab the carton and spoons, handing one of them to her.
“we can have the rest together,” bosco said simply, opening the carton and immediately digging into the cold treat.
daya smiled and dug in as well, putting a decent amount on her spoon before shoving it in her mouth. she sighed a bit at the taste of the ice cream; it never got old. she swallowed her bite and went to get another, seeing that while there wasn’t much left, there’d be enough to keep her and bosco happy.
with a treat to keep her mind occupied, daya found herself more focused on the movie. she got so into it that she completely forgot about the ice cream, only remembering it existed when bosco tapped her cheek.
“baby, here,” bosco mumbled, holding a spoonful of ice cream to daya’s mouth, urging her to take a bite. daya smiled and took the bite, humming in thanks. “normally i’d make fun of you, but i’m happy to see you’re enjoying grease.”
“i’m glad you forced me to watch it.”
bosco just snorted and took another bite of ice cream, putting more on the spoon to give to daya.
the brunette ended up spoon-feeding daya ice cream until they ran out, putting the spoons into the carton and setting it aside on the side table. they wrapped their hands around daya and pulled her close, their eyes going back to the tv screen.
daya’s eyes, however, moved from the screen to bosco. her eyes scanned the brunette, an involuntary smile slowly appearing on her face. she adored this snarky, quick-witted, beautiful, intelligent individual so much. sometimes daya felt her heart only beat for bosco, her lungs only breathed for bosco, her eyes were only meant to look at bosco. she cared so deeply for them, would go to the ends of the earth just to make them happy, she’d truly do anything for bosco.
bosco began to turn their head, and while daya knew she’d be embarrassed by getting caught staring, she couldn’t bring herself to look away. they locked eyes, and bosco’s face imitated daya’s, smiling with a twinkle of adoration in their eyes.
“shouldn’t you be watching the movie?”
“you’re more fun to look at.”
bosco chuckled lightly, shaking their head. they glanced down at daya’s lips before leaning closer to capture the blonde in a sweet, soft kiss. it was so gentle it took daya by surprise, but she welcomed it and kissed back just as softly. they had been doing this quite a bit the past few weeks, but bosco had the ability to make every kiss feel like their first to daya. they pulled away a bit, bosco giving daya one last peck before pulling back entirely.
“watch the movie with me, you sap,” bosco mumbled, the smile still evident on their face.
“fine,” daya huffed, unable to hide her grin.
they both turned back to the screen, daya’s head resting on bosco’s shoulder.
daya didn’t want to move.

Social worker Bosco au is now on ao3!! :)
Summary: Bosco has been a social worker at a shelter for people in need for a while now. She knows most of their faces, knows a lot of their stories, their worries, and their dreams. So when she sees a new face on the street one day, a young woman nonetheless, she knows she has to do whatever she can to help her. Because it's her job, of course. Not because she has the most mesmerizing eyes and the kindest smile. But as their work relationship progresses, so do their feelings, and Bosco finds herself in some ethical dilemmas.

Thank you to everyone who was excited about this au with me <3 (Juno, Gi, I'm looking at you)

also because i did my customary ask the ppl not in america if they knew a word, pre-req is short for pre-requisite which is like in college a class you have to take before you take another class. i.e., you have to take gen chem before taking organic chemistry
[🦇 read on ao3 🦇]
“Happy one month since opening officially,” Bosco said while laying on Daya’s lap. “I feel like we should celebrate.”
“Do you have something in mind?” Daya absentmindedly braided her hair. “I’m sure you’re fucking exhausted with school shit.”
“You’re right, I am, but I also really have the strongest urge right now to take a pretty girl to the pumpkin patch and then carve pumpkins with her.”
“Do I  qualify as a pretty girl?”
Bosco sat upright before kissing Daya. “The prettiest.”
“Flattery will get you everywhere. I'll even drive.”
“Let’s go.”
-
“Cow,” Bosco announced roughly twenty minutes into the drive.
“Are you going to point out every cow that we pass on the way to a literal farm?”
“Absolutely. Just for you. I just really need you to be aware that we’re passing cows.”
“I really, truly appreciate it. Thank you. I'm so excited. I love the pumpkin patch."
“Same. Even if I worked there."
"Wait, really?"
Bosco nodded. "I don't know why I never brought this up but when I was like sixteen I worked the haunted hayride. Labor laws weren’t followed, and I was definitely paid under the table in cash. Crazy they still get away with that shit. I was a lumberjack."
Daya gasped. “You’ve got me so fucked up. That was you? I literally ran away screaming when I was 14 because I was a little bitch—Don’t you dare say I’m still a bitch.”
“Wait… Did I chase you into a port-a-potty?”
She blinked slowly. “You fucking bitch. Also a lumberjack? Dyke.”
Bosco laughed, resting their hand on her thigh. “Who would have thought that the bitchass that I chased into a port-a-potty people definitely hooked up with would be my— be you.”
Daya pretended to not notice the sentence Bosco didn’t finish. Titles were never something that officially had come up in the past month. But, as far as Daya was concerned, they were official. No titles needed.
That being said, she definitely wouldn’t be mad calling Bosco her girlfriend.
“God, Crystal and Gigi still bring that up sometimes. They’re going to be so gagged finding out it was them. I can’t believe…”
“The plot of our origin story thickens.”
“Damn, I thought it was darts. Now I know it’s port-a-potties. Only us.”
“We’re a goddamn mess,” Bosco held her hand before kissing her knuckles.
“I wouldn’t change our messiness for the world. Makes for an interesting story.”
“Our story gives Wattpad, but I’m definitely not mad.”
“Oh, shit. Are we a bad Larry fanfiction?”
“Come on now. We’re at least Faith and Buffy.”
-
In the years that Daya had grown up coming to the pumpkin patch, nothing had changed. The sign that faced the parking lot had long since seen its prime, the paint chipped and weathered away, any words were barely legible. A lanky teenage boy in an orange vest wildly waved his arms, guiding cars into makeshift parking spots—lines in the grass haphazardly made with spray paint.
“What’s first?” Bosco asked once they started heading toward the giant entranceway, constructed of hay bales.
“Can we please go pet the baby animals? I love them so much. They’re my favorite.”
“Wait, really? That’s your favorite thing to do here?”
Daya blinked. “Is there a problem?”
“God, you’re cute. Let’s go.” Bosco took her hand as they went under a large arch made of corn.
The pumpkin patch was at a large farm that primarily grew corn, which was mowed into a maze for the season. Various vendors had booths displaying their crafts, while others sold food as the smell of cinnamon apples wafted through the air. They made their way to the corner of the farm where a pen of baby goats, lambs, and pigs were kept.
“Oh my God, they’re so cute,” Daya gushed, petting a baby goat, offering her hand. “Well fuck you too,” she muttered, watching the goat walk toward Bosco. “Do all animals just flock to you like fucking Snow White?”
Bosco did her best Snow White imitation singing impressively high and nasally, “I’m wishing…”
“Please never do that again.” Another goat had approached, this time rubbing against Daya’s legs. “What are you wishing for?”
“To pass my next test.”
Daya rolled her eyes. “Of course you’re gonna pass it. If being a fucking animal whisperer is a pre-req to being a professional horse girl, you’ve got that covered. You’re being swarmed on all sides, damn.”
“A goat on my right and a lamb on my left. I am fulfilled.” Bosco offered her hand to the lamb. “You realize that’s like saying a pre-req to being an engineer is playing with Legos?”
“Babe, that’s absolutely a pre-req,” Daya said flatly. “Everyone knows that. That’s the weed out class. It’s not actually calc, it’s building the Death Star out of Legos but with no instruction manual. I thought everyone knew that.”
“It’s not making a Saw trap?”
“That’s the capstone for the Master’s. Again damn, that’s common knowledge. C’mon now.”
“Oh, shit, my mistake.” Bosco rubbed her palms together before putting her hands in her pockets. “It’s so cold.”
Daya took her hands and squeezed them between hers.
“Yours are even colder. You’re making it even worse,” Bosco said sarcastically.
“I have an idea.” Daya took their hand and led them away from the petting zoo.
“Oh?”
“Touching something warm would make your hands not cold.”
“Something hot will make my hands not cold? Oh my God, you’re such a smart, brilliant, talented, woman in STEM.”
“I know, right?” Daya said earnestly as she led them to a stall consisting of two large beverage dispensers and a card table being manned by someone who looked entirely too young to be working, who was currently staring blankly, squeezing handwarmers for dear life.
“Wait, hold up,” the worker began.
Daya raised an eyebrow. “Is everything okay?”
“You work Hauntfest, right? You crawl on her in that street. Masqu... the French sounding one with the hot girls, right?” Bosco nodded. “Hell yeah. I love Hauntfest. What can I get you?”
“Two hot apple ciders please.” Daya reached for the zipper of her bag when the employee waved their hand.
“Don’t worry about it,” they said as they began filling a styrofoam cup, handing it to Daya.
“Pretty privilege,” Bosco mouthed as the employee's back was turned.
“And here you go,” the employee said as they passed the cup to Bosco. “Have a good one.”
“Is that what it’s like to be famous?” Daya asked as she took a sip once they were out of earshot.
“I guess so. Damn.”
After browsing the vendors, they eventually settled at a bench in a quiet corner.
“What’s your favorite Halloween memory?” Daya asked.
“I feel like this probably isn’t the best, but it’s the first i thought of. The first year I did Hauntfest, I ended up going to the opener for the street Willow was in. And like, there’s no rule saying you have to be in a street or a house to go to the party, but obviously it’s what’s to be expected. So, the entire night, I gaslit people into thinking I was in their cast. People asked Willow where I was at dress and then Willow made up some huge elaborate story about how I disappeared without a trace, and they somehow believed her.”
Daya laughed. “I didn’t know what to expect but it wasn’t… that.”
“How about you?”
“Now I’m thinking about my first Hauntfest. I was fourteen, so the same year you chased me into the port-a-potty. I went with Crystal. She decided that not only should it be my first Hauntfest, but it should be my first time getting high.”
“Oh, shit.”
“Yup! So we hot boxed in the parking lot, and as much as I’d love to say I didn’t get high the first time I smoked, that just wouldn’t be true. I got absolutely blasted so much so that I forgot to walk forward in the houses. Crystal had to like make sure I was moving. I was so stoned that I didn’t get scared. I was just happy to be there. I had an amazing time.”
“Oh my God. Were you still high when you got home to your parents'?”
"Sure was."
"What happened next? Did you get caught? The suspense is killing me."
“So, she got me home and told my mom that I just got really scared and had a panic attack and that it would be best if she helped me up to my room because I was just so scared, after all. I’m pretty sure that our families know about all the shenanigans, that night included, but we’re basically court jesters for our family.”
“Court jesters are clowns, pretty much…” Bosco bit her lip suggestively.
Daya groaned. “I walked right into that.”
“You ran headfirst into it, actually. But court jester fucker is way too clunky and doesn’t roll of the tongue like clown fucker does.”
“I’m sure that we’re about to segway into some great conversation about clown fucking, but I think picking pumpkins sounds more fun.”
“Stop kink shaming me.” Bosco stood, holding out her hand. “Let’s go.”
“Also, I hope that we’re on the same page that the corn maze fucking sucks,” Daya said as they walked toward the north edge of the farm where the pumpkins were grown. “I have negative desire to do that.”
“Oh, for sure. Irene and I both ate edibles when we were in high school. Halfway through they hit, and it was the worst experience of my life. I still have no idea how long we were in the maze for.”
“That sounds horrible.”
“When I tell you I almost came home that day as an only child…”
“That bad?”
“Irene started getting paranoid and I basically had to carry that bitch out of that maze. I was so mad at her, and to this day I will not set food in a corn maze.”
“Damn, I had no idea someone could feel so strongly about corn mazes,” Daya said as they approached the pumpkins.
“I could literally run an entire blog devoted to hating corn mazes, and they suck so hard, I bet I wouldn’t even be the first,” Bosco said, softly kicking a pumpkin.
“I don’t really know how to pick out a pumpkin,” Daya crouched, examining the stem. “How do I know?”
“How do you know what, diva?”
“If it’s good?”
“Is there a way it can be bad? You’re just cutting it up.”
“But still… What about this one?” Daya asked, crouching next to one of the pumpkins. “I think this looks good.”
“Hey, Daya? I need to tell you something.”
“Hmm?” she didn’t look up.
“It’s important. Will you look at me? Just for a sec.”
She felt her stomach drop. “What’s wrong? Something’s wrong, isn’t it? Fuck… I—”
Daya was confused. Literally a few hours ago, Bosco almost accidentally called her their girlfriend. Did they have a change of heart and freak out and decide that wasn’t what they wanted anymore?
“What? Daya, no…” Bosco sighed, collecting her thoughts, choosing her words carefully. “I’ve been thinking a lot lately.”
“Oh?” she managed.
“Yeah. I was thinking about life after Hauntfest, which would be graduating. I’ve always had an idea of how I wanted my life to go since I was like fifteen, and it’s usually the same. Like, I can close my eyes and picture exactly how I want things to go, but the things I want have changed. Well, maybe not changed. But something’s been added that wasn’t there before.”
Daya’s heart was pounding. She still wasn’t sure where the hell she was going with this.
“My whole life, I was stuck in this cycle of meeting a girl, and then running away the second things got serious. Well… the vicious cycle was over the moment you smiled at me at the first rehearsal. And because of that, I can’t see my future without you in it. And I’m so sick of the Untitled Era.”
“Which means…?”
Daya knew damn well where this was headed, but she still wanted to hear Bosco say the words.
She sighed dramatically before speaking. "Daya, will you be my girlfriend?”
Her heart was pounded as she shifted her weight to her other heel, blissfully unaware she was standing in a hole. “I—” she caught her foot and landed on her knees. “Fuck,” she groaned, brushing the dirt off of her flannel.
Bosco held their hand out. “Are you trying to find a way out?”
“What? No!” Daya stood. “I would love nothing more than to be your girlfriend.”
“Oh, thank God,” they pulled her into a hug.
“I feel like I should make a joke about you falling for me.”
“If you do that’ll be the shortest relationship in existence.”
Bosco smiled widely. “Girlfriend era.”
“Do Willow and Irene know you were going to ask?”
“No one knows.”
“Which means Irene probably knows.”
“Babe, she’s not a psychic.”
“I’m not convinced. I don’t know if we should tell people yet. I feel like it being us, we have to have some dramatic hard launch. It’s our brand at this point.”
“No, our brand is stressing out Willow and Kerri.”
“It’s going to be like when we fucked. Everyone knew.”
“Okay, and? Also, I have to tell you something else."
“What?”
“Earlier today when I was doing that absolutely incredible Snow White impression, I wished that you’d say yes.”
Daya gagged. “Gay.”
“Shut up and help me find a pumpkin, woman.”
“Wow, less than five minutes as girlfriends and the true colors already show.”
-
“Do you think there’s enough newspapers on the table? I don’t want to ruin your table.”
Bosco looked at the table covered in several layers of newspaper. “I think we’re good.”
Daya took one of the knives as she carefully began to cut the top of the pumpkin. “God, this is so hard.” She looked over at Bosco who was cutting the top off with ease. “Of course, another thing you’re good at.”
“Oh, that looks like a drunk toddler did it,” Bosco glanced in Daya’s direction as she took the stem off of her pumpkin.
She sighed dramatically as she sat the stem of the pumpkin on the newspapers. “This is the worst fucking part…” She grimaced as she felt the cold pumpkin guts touch her fingers, trying to not gag as she took a handful.
“Girlfriend, you are absolutely fighting for your life.”
“It’s wet and squishy and gross.”
“That’s what… she said? I think?” Bosco said, continuing to hollow out their pumpkin.
“Maybe?” Daya cringed as she took another handful.
“Here, let me do it.” Bosco playfully shoved Daya out of the way. “I have to do everything in this relationship.”
“It’s been literally four hours.”
“Still.”
“I’m so sorry I’m a dainty princess who can’t touch pumpkin guts.” She wiped her hands on the newspapers. “Disgusting.”
“Here you go, my dainty princess.” Bosco kissed her on the cheek once they finished.
Daya took one of the sharpies resting on the newspaper. “My hero. What would I do without you?”
“You’d be so terribly lost and sad, I’m sure.” Bosco began sketching a design on her pumpkin. “How sad for you.”
Daya rolled her eyes. “Everytime I draw some elaborate design that I definitely can never actually cut out accurately. I’m not even gonna try—” She looked over at their pumpkin, which had the beginnings of the outline of a cat's face. “Oh, come on . Why are you so good at this?”
“Irene and I do this every year since we were kids. Our parents let us have free reign over knives way too young.”
Daya tried her hardest to cut the eye out with the utmost precision. Despite her best effort, she couldn’t cut an even line, and the triangle was crooked and jagged.
“Why is this so hard?”
“Why are you cutting toward yourself while gripping that knife like a child? An emergency room trip wasn’t what I had planned for tonight.”
“Fine!” she adjusted, cutting away from herself instead. “Shit, that’s harder. Every year I want to carve pumpkins, forgetting that every year it actually kinda sucks.”
“I don’t know, I’m enjoying this,” Bosco muttered as she continued to carve as Daya looked on, genuinely impressed with her girlfriend’s talent.
“Damn,” she muttered before returning to her own pumpkin.
After a while, Daya had finished carving her pumpkin, and for a while after, she watched her partner carve theirs. Until she got bored and decided to scroll through Tik Tok
“Okay, I’m done,” Bosco finally said.
Daya wasn’t sure how long it had been, but she knew she’d managed to catch an entire episode of Shameless on her FYP.
She looked at the pumpkin, which now had the a detailed cat's face carved into it. It was meticulously done, looking straight out of a movie.
“Yours is like a work of actual art,” Daya said.
Bosco looked at hers before covering her face with her hand. “And yours has character.”
“Don’t laugh at her!”
They pursed their lips as they faced her. “I’m not. I’m just extremely amused and touched at how much personality your she has. That’s all.”
“You’re so full of shit.”
“You’re so pretty.” Bosco pulled her into a kiss. “Does flattery still get me far?”
Daya pulled her into a deeper kiss. “Yup. Sure does.”
“I think we should quit Hauntfest and just hang out at pumpkin patches and carve pumpkins.”
“As much as I’d love that, Crystal would kill us. Besides, we both get paid to  be hot and be all over each other. What more could we want?”
“More than just above minimum wage.”
“Yeah, well. No job’s perfect.”
-
The next morning, Daya woke up reaching for Bosco. “Morning, girlfriend.”
Her eyes remained shut as she reached over to feel… nothing.
She sat up and called, “Babe?”
When she reached for her phone on the nightstand, Daya saw a note scribbled hastily on a post it note.
My lovely girlfriend,
Horsegirl duties called early this morning, but you looked so peaceful I didn’t wanna wake you up. My apt key is on the table, lock the door and bring it with you tonight.
Xoxo,
Gossipgirl
Ps it wasn’t gossip girl it was your girlfriend
Pps, wow it feels so great to call you my girlfriend
Ppps I’m such a fucking simp. I’m so sorry. That was cringe, but it’s technically you’re fault, great job. I hope you're getting secondhand embarrassment on my behalf right now.  Have a great day, see you tonight.
The entire way to work, Daya had a huge smile on her face.
-
In the month that she had been working Hauntfest, Daya had to admit some nights she didn’t give it everything she had. Sure, she was always on for her scene with Bosco, but admittedly, there were times when she wasn’t as energetic as others.
Tonight was not one of those nights, especially considering it was the first sold out night of the season. The energy was palpable, and the cast was taking full advantage of it.
“Help me!” Daya screamed, lunging at a group of teenage boys who immediately cowered.
She continued making her way down the street, making eye contact with Bosco as they passed. They’d already done their scene for their set so instead of running her hand through her hair, she pouted her lips and batted her eyelashes. Since the event was sold out, the street was crowded and packed. While she weaved through passersby, she felt like a fish swimming upstream.
A man in a ripped tie dye shirt looked as though he lost his balance directly in front of her. Instinctively, Daya reached out to help the man from falling. The man briefly made eye contact with her before fully gathering his balance, placing his hands firmly on her tits before squeezing way too hard.
Daya froze entirely, unable to even process what had just happened.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” a voice demanded.
She looked to her left to see Jasmine standing very closely to the man. Despite the fact that he had a foot on her, she didn’t relent, the intensity clear in her eyes. Daya swore that Jasmine could have turned the man into stone if she wanted to with that gaze.
“It was an accident, bro!”
“First off, I’m not your fucking bro. Second, there’s absolutely no reason for you to put your hands on that girl. And that wasn’t an accident. I saw everything.”
“It was an accident, I don’t know what to tell you.”
“It was not a fucking accident!” Jasmine screamed as Crystal tapped her shoulder.
“Jasmine… We can take over.”
Daya wasn’t sure when but at some point, tears had formed in her eyes and were flowing freely down her face.
“Baby, let’s go.” Jasmine took her hand and led her into the alley before she could respond.
The entire time she was walking, Daya could feel herself shake, but she couldn’t stop, but she was pretty sure that the tears had stopped. She put all her weight on the wall of the alley before slumping to the ground. Immediately, Jasmine joined her on the ground.
“Did he hurt you?”
“I didn’t do anything. I just stood there.”
“That’s okay. Did he hurt you?”
“I fucking froze…”
“Daya, I’m not asking you what happened. I’m asking if you’re hurt.”
She shook her head.
“Your makeup is fucked up. Can I fix it?” Daya nodded as Jasmine wiped the bottom of Daya’s eyes, an uncomfortable silence hung in the air before Jasmine finally spoke. “I’m sorry I slept with her, but to be fair, you fucked up first, bitch.”
“You’re the reason I slept with Camden, Jasmine. Your little story about studying anatomy made me make some hasty retaliation attempts. You were the catalyst here.”
“Wait, hold up. Camden was Pink Panties Girl? You slept with Camden ?”
Shit.
“I slept with Camden, yes.”
“Was it g—”
Thankfully, Daya didn’t have to answer as Crystal barreled through the alley offering a hand to help her off the ground. “Oh, my God. Did he hurt you?” She wrapped her cousin into a hug, waiting until Daya pulled away to speak. “He’s not seeing the inside of this park ever again.”
“I feel so stupid,” Daya managed.
“Stupid?”
“I just froze and didn’t say a word. If it wasn’t for Jasmine, he’d probably be grabbing someone else.” She turned to Jasmine. “Thank you so much for having my back when you have no reason to.”
“Girl, wherever the fuck we stand with each other doesn't matter. That guy was a fucking creep. I wasn’t going to hang you out to dry.”
“I appreciate it.”
Crystal rested her hands on Daya's shoulders. “Daya, do you need a sec to gather yourself? The set’s only another ten minutes. You can go in early if you want, or you can go back."
“I’m not going to let some drunken idiot ruin the only time it's socially acceptable to be screaming at strangers. There’s only like a month left of this…” She locked eyes with Jasmine. “Want to chase me out of this alley with your chainsaw?”
A small smile grew on Jasmine’s face. “Run, bitch.”

she'll patch up your tapestry that i shred
it's been so so long since i've put something fun on the dash so here's this! it's not proofread at all, just kind of straight from the dome so if it's wonky look away
it was a day bosco was not looking forward to.
daya had told them they were invited to some family gathering daya’s family was having, some cousin’s celebration, and they had to go since they missed the last one.
her family was nice enough, it just wasn’t anything bosco was used to. their family never did anything for any holiday or birthday, so when they found out that no matter whose birthday or what holiday it was, daya’s family was throwing a party, they were a bit surprised. her family was always nice to her, exchanging pleasantries and such when they entered. the rest of the night bosco would cling to daya or talk to crystal and gigi, the only people they found comfort in at the gatherings.
this family gathering felt different, for some reason. daya was really pushing for them to go, ensuring they had absolutely nothing going on that day and that even the day after was cleared. it was unusual, but bosco didn’t bother looking into it. daya woke up and immediately started getting ready for the event, it was unusual compared to when she’d get ready an hour before they had to leave. she pushed bosco to get ready for it earlier as well.
when they pulled into the parking lot, daya took a minute before getting out of the car. bosco looked over, frowning a bit. “you okay, baby?”
“yeah, just…” daya trailed off, shrugging, “feeling some weird anxiety about this party for some reason.”
“it’s just another one of your families’ parties, they always go the same. no need to worry, love.”
daya nodded, taking a deep breath and turning off the car. “yeah, you’re right. come on, i don’t wanna be late.”
the two got out and made their way to the building, where no commotion or music could be heard. very unusual for daya’s family. when they opened the door and looked around, everything was decorated, but no one was around.
“where is everyone?” bosco asked, very confused.
“not sure. we might be a little early, my mom never gave me a real answer on when to be here. her and my dad might be somewhere setting up something else, i don’t know.” daya’s demeanor was off, but bosco shrugged it off. “wanna go take a walk? there’s a waterfall near here i’ve been meaning to show you.”
“sure.”
daya grabbed bosco’s hand and led them outside again, heading towards a little trail that led into a wooded area. they walked along the trail, looking at all the scenery.
“so, which cousin is having a birthday?” bosco asked.
“one of aunt veronica’s, i can never remember, honestly. she has too many damn kids.”
bosco snickered, nodding in agreement. “no matter how many times i hear their names i can never get them all.”
“it’s okay, i think most of my uncles are the same way.”
silence fell over them once more as they walked the trail, daya taking the lead. they finally reached the end of the trail, right where the waterfall was. bosco’s eyes were locked on the sight, watching as the water rushed from the top of the cliff to the bottom, gathering in a lake. they felt so serene, so complete. they turned to see if daya was feeling the same, when they saw the taller woman below her, down on one knee with a ring in hand.
“daya, what are…”
“i know i said we’d be going to a cousin’s birthday party but i just needed an excuse to get you out here, because i can’t think of a better place to do this,” daya said, her face smiling brightly. “i didn’t think you’d willingly go here with me.”
“probably not, but daya, please-“
daya interrupted her. “i’ve been thinking about how i’d do this for months and i still haven’t been able to find the words on how to tell you how much i love you and how badly i want to be with you forever. you are my forever, and i want to make that official.”
bosco was speechless. this wasn’t what they wanted. they couldn’t be someone’s wife. they couldn’t be tied to someone forever. “daya, i don’t…”
“will you marry me?”
they looked around, and they could see daya’s family watching from a clearing in the trees. great.
“i can’t.”
daya’s face dropped. “what do you mean?”
bosco grabbed daya’s hand and pulled her up off her knee. “i don’t think i’m ready for this.”
the brunette was in utter shock. “we’ve been together for so long, what do you mean you’re not ready? i thought- you said you loved me. you said you wanted to be with me.”
“i do, daya, i just…” bosco looked away, shaking their head. this was awful. they just couldn’t say yes to daya knowing they were uncertain. “i’m not someone’s wife. i’m not someone’s forever. i can’t be that for you.”
“bosco, you’re talking nonsense,” daya said firmly, knowing bosco was just in their head. “you have been that for me. you are the perfect partner. look, we don’t have to get married, we can just… be us.”
“we can’t be us when you want to get married,” bosco shook their head, letting go of daya’s hand. “i can’t be your forever.”
daya didn’t know what else to say.
“i’m sorry.”
bosco squeezed daya’s hand before walking off toward the parking lot, avoiding her family. she’d call an uber home, start packing her things and figure out a new living situation. she owed that to daya.
daya watched bosco leave, her heart on the floor. she clutched the ring in her hand, the one her mom gave her to propose to bosco with. if it wasn’t a family heirloom, she’d be chucking it into the lake by now. she waited until bosco was out of sight to walk toward her family, who were just as shocked as she was.
“daya, what happened?” crystal asked, breaking the silence.
“they don’t want to marry me.”
her mom frowned, shaking her head. “they’re a fool, daya.”
“maybe i’m the fool,” daya mumbled, running her hand through her hair. “let’s go back inside and tear everything down.”
“we can handle that, honey. do you want to go home?” her dad asked, rubbing her shoulder.
daya shook her head, walking toward the building. “they’ll be there. i need some time. come on.”
the family walked back together, getting to work right away. daya sat down and looked around. her eyes landed on the cake box, the one that said “congratulations!” on it, with a big engagement ring piped out in icing in the corner. the expensive bottle of champagne that crystal had bought to celebrate with as soon as they came back. the decorations that her and her mom picked out days earlier, hoping they wouldn’t be too obvious that they weren’t birthday party decorations.
all of these decisions, gone to waste. everything daya had planned, out the window.
was she so delusional in her love for bosco that she couldn’t realize that bosco wanted nothing to do with marriage? while she was dreaming of their future life together, were they thinking about leaving her? did they even love her? was she not enough for them?
so many questions that would never get answered, she knew that. she just knew she’d never be the same again.
bosco felt awful. they did a bad thing, something they’d feel guilty about til the end of their days, but it’d be even worse if they said yes. they were not daya’s soulmate, her wife, her forever, her person to grow old with.
they weren’t meant for that life, not right now, at least.
on the uber home, they called willow, who was surprised, but understood, lucky enough. willow offered bosco a place to stay until they got back on their feet. they packed a bag with the essentials, leaving a note for daya saying they were sorry and that they’d come to get the rest of their things at a later date, when she wasn’t home.
if only bosco didn’t feel so fucked in the head, maybe they’d love daya the way she loved bosco, but they knew there was something better out there for daya. she’d find the real love of her life and forget bosco ever existed, hopefully.
bosco could only hope.
it was a day daya was looking forward to more than anything.
she had her reservations, as the last time she tried to do this she got shut down so badly she fell into the worst depression of her life, until an unexpected ray of sunshine named jasmine kennedie came into her life and flipped it upside down in the best way possible.
this time would be different, she was sure of that. this time, it would just be her and jasmine. she had dropped hints about getting married to jasmine the past couple of months and was met with eager responses. there was even one night where they talked about their hypothetical wedding; where they’d have it, what their color palette would be, who their bridesmaids would be, all that. it was the night daya knew this woman was the one she was meant to marry.
as she led jasmine through a field of flowers, ring in pocket, she knew the day would be a good one. the two took in the scenery before she dropped to one knee. she knew jasmine was expecting it, but the shock and tears in the redhead’s eyes still meant the world to her. she confessed how much she loved jasmine, how she’d be there for her for the rest of their lives, and asked jasmine to marry her.
she couldn’t even get through the entire question before jasmine was saying yes, nodding vigorously and sticking her hand out.
daya was sliding the ring on and wrapping jasmine up in the tightest hug, kissing her hard.
this was her forever.

she'll patch up your tapestry that i shred
it's been so so long since i've put something fun on the dash so here's this! it's not proofread at all, just kind of straight from the dome so if it's wonky look away

Bosco is not happy about getting dragged to a festival by her sister, until she runs into a pretty girl-literally.
Thank you to @thecollectionsof for beta-ing and to @themetaluna and @missvanjiebitchh for helping me out with ideas!

hi love!! are you ready it's question time <3<3 how many different fan communities/fandoms have you been in? how active are you in them? what was/is your favorite one to be a part of? do you say you spend a lot of time in fandom spaces, or is it something that you do occasionally as an escape?
hi honey !!! question time i’m ready
i’ve been in like. four solid fandoms i think. but what constitutes as a fandom?? the first couple that came to mind are, obviously, drag race, marvel, and twenty one pilots. don’t really venture into 21p anymore as much, and i still look at marvel stuff!! still on my knees for marvel women.
my favorite one is drag race bc everyone’s just too nice (in my personal opinion)!! but with the amount of times i go back to marvel it’s definitely top spot with content i suppose
i go through phases of interests so sometimes i’m really into fandom spaces and other times, like right now, i’m not. hopefully will be soon though! i feel lost without one
this was fun i love u less than three

oh hey wow i actually decided to participate in something !!
here’s something from the one (1) and only fic im working on, a dayasco summer fic
The two let go of each other, and Bosco watched as Daya followed Crystal inside, the red on her cheeks finally fading. Once the door shut, she turned around and walked toward her house, replaying the past ten minutes in her head.
maybe i’ll get the motivation to finish it now thank u very much gi :)
share the last line of your work in progress and then tag as many people as you like
i've been tagged by beloved @junosjukebox @snowflakenali and @sexynetra thank you lovelies !!!! i'm so excited to see what all of your fics are :)
but i'll do three from three different fics because i was tagged three times :)
also i'm gonna tag @gggoode @iinthelavenderhazee @adoordelano @fuckyeah-dragrace @sweetestberryofthebunch pplease show me what you're writing i would love to see !!!!
halldoll:
She had a few really good friends and that’s all that mattered to her. (And if a tiny spinning ballerina in a music box counted as one of those friends, that was nobody’s business but hers).
postcard fic:
Gigi is suddenly aware of how much she must look like a mess—greasy hair, rumpled clothing, and with how poorly she’s been sleeping she wouldn’t be surprised if she had huge dark circles under her eyes.
the library cryptid:
Jaida looks amused, almost like she’d ruffle her hair if she didn’t think Gigi would bite her hand off. Which she would. Probably. (An errant thought points out that she’d let Library Girl mess up her hair in a heartbeat, but she shakes it off as soon as it comes.)
