Introduction to My Series (Part 1)

Hello! Today is the election for the new student council president at my school! My finger is now blue... I hope I can wash it off when I get home. This time, both of my best friends are with me!

So, since the start of this year, I've been making a few OCs for a series I'm making! I still don't know what to name it yet, but I'm sure I'll come up with something eventually. The way this series of OCs started was actually very funny! Around the end of February, my colleague in student council asked me to make them two characters for a poster they're making. I was willing to help them, for they were my close friend at school. When I was thinking about the characters, I wanted it to be a boy and a girl. They were supposed to be student council (the poster was for a student council event). The first I thought of was the color pink and blue. And then, out of the blue, and idea struck me! I thought the characters should look like humans. So, I wanted to make them humanoid solid colors! These were their first designs.

Looking back, they looked really ugly lol. This was the picture I used for the event. I thought they weren't going to be drawn ever again. But for no reason at all, I wanted to name them. I didn't want to call them "The pink girl and the blue boy". So, I had to come up with names. It took a while for me to find names for them. But then, I realized, I could just name them by the name of their colors! After that, I went to a site where I can find the name of colors.

For the pink girl, the name of her color was Persian Rose (98.3% match). And for the blue boy, the name for his color was Crystal Blue (96.7% match). Since the pink girl's name started with P and the blue boy's name started with C, I decided to name them Penny and Chris. For their last name, I just used the last name of their color's name (ex: Penny = Penelope Rose). I was quite satisfied with their names! So out of curiosity, I made a few more characters. I made a yellow girl, a purple girl, a green boy and a red boy. These were their first designs.

I'm going to admit... I really dislike their old hairstyles. Their uniforms were inspired by one of the uniforms I wear at school. I thought; "Hey! These other kids could be the friends of the two student council characters!". And that's how it all started. I started to assign them names. As you can see in the picture, you can find the names of their colors. For the yellow girl, I named her Marjorie. For the green boy, I named him Liam. For the purple girl, I named her Nelly (The N comes from the 'ney' in 'barney'). And last but not least, the red boy was named Marc.

After designing them, I just couldn't stop thinking about them. They're like brain eating amoeba! I started doodling them all the time. I drew them in certain scenarios to see their personalities and character. Then, I started to think; "Hmm.. I could start making a series with these characters!". And that's how everything started.

I wanted the series to be some sort of 'slice-of-life' type of thing. They're supposed to be 14 year old 8th grade students. The setting of the story would be a prestigious school full of gifted/talented children. The school will be a junior and senior high school. But for their story, I'm only going to focus on their grade. But when I started thinking about this, I realized; "What kind of school only has 6 students?". So, I began designing a bunch of teachers and students. In that school, a grade is only 40 people (Which isn't many, but that's a lot of students to draw). One class has 13-14 students in it. Here is a chart I've made for all 40 students in that grade.

As you can see, I changed the names of the main characters (Penelope Rosella, Christopher Becker, Liam Liú, Natalie Putri, Marco Molina and Marjorie Muijsebrink). This is because the old names didn't really sound right to me. It took me a while, but I actually designed 40 students! Unfortunately, I don't really have any digital drawings of them, but I do have a lot of sketches of them in my sketchbook. I didn't bother to make any other students (ex: 7th graders and 9th graders) because I think it would take me even longer to do!

If your'e wondering "If they were born around 2005-2006, wouldn't they graduate highschool already?" Well you see, the story takes place in 2020. But in their universe, covid never really happened. So everything is all sunshine and rainbows for them.

As you can see, they have clubs! The clubs were really fun to make. In that school, there are a total of 8 clubs; the art club, the drama club, the music club, the science club, the gardening club, the cooking club and also the journalist club. All these clubs have club leaders. Marc, one of the main characters, is the club leader for the cooking club! Here is a small (and ugly) illustration of them.

Look how cute! And for the teachers, I plan on sharing them with you on a part 2 of whatever I'm making. This is cause I haven't developed them as much as the students. For now, this is all I have! I hope you enjoyed reading this. I'll see you later on part 2!
