“An old alchemist gave the following consolation to one of his disciples: “No matter how isolated you are and how lonely you feel, if you do your work truly and conscientiously, unknown friends will come and seek you.” - C. G. Jung: Letters, Volume II, p. 595. (Artist: Erike Miranda)

Manly P. Hall - The Philosopher’s Stone, “The Initiates of the Flame”, 1922. This is the true Stone of the Philosopher, which gives him power over all created things. This Stone is Himself. The experiences of his Evolution have cut and polished the rough Stone until in the Initiate it reflects the Light of Creation from a thousand different facets.

Quote
Like a wave in the physical world, in the infinite ocean of the medium which pervades all, so in the world of organisms, in life, an impulse started proceeds onward, at times, may be, with the speed of light, at times, again, so slowly that for ages and ages it seems to stay, passing through processes of a complexity inconceivable to men, but in all its forms, in all its stages, its energy ever and ever integrally present. A single ray of light from a distant star falling upon the eye of a tyrant in bygone times may have altered the course of his life, may have changed the destiny of nations, may have transformed the surface of the globe, so intricate, so inconceivably complex are the processes in Nature. In no way can we get such an overwhelming idea of the grandeur of Nature than when we consider, that in accordance with the law of the conservation of energy, throughout the Infinite, the forces are in a perfect balance, and hence the energy of a single thought may determine the motion of a universe.
Nikola Tesla “The Electrical Review, 1893” (via ad-hominem)

Conversation
friend: so how are you doing?
me, at 3am, jacked up on coffee: ghost in the shell represents the possibility for the postmodern human subject to transcend both archaic descriptors as gender, race and class but also physicality as a whole, thereby freeing them from the collectivist urban pressure to establish an essential core for who they are as a person, and allowing them to view their identity as nothing but the accumulation of memories, knowledge and impressions, so that their existential anxiety evaporates, given that they're willing to see themselves as disconnected and fragmented subjects much like computers that store data, as opposed to the view of humanity as social beings that function only as part of a larger community
