Alchemy of Souls: How Soul Swapping Works

This is just a quick post on how soul shifting works. I think ALOT of people misunderstood how it works leading them to form very flawed theories down the line. It's probably a good idea to review this post before you perpetually go down the Nasku/Jin Bu Yeon/ Mu Deok rabbit hole.

The concept of soul swapping/shifting is at it's core a very simple concept. You cast the Alchemy of Soul spell and your soul goes into another person's body. Then when you want to return, you perform the Alchemy of Soul spell again.

How many times in TOTAL did you have to perform the spell to go from your body to another person's body and then return to your body? 2 times right? Yes! Just remember this. THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT! ALSO IMPORTANT, WRITERS AND DIRECTORS CAN PURPOSELY LEAVE SCENES OUT TO TRICK YOU!

Now let's visualize this process in AOS!

Jang Gang x King Soul Swapping Process

1st Time: Switching Into Another Person's Body

Jang Gang casts the Alchemy of Soul spell between him and the King.

Jang Gang's soul is now in the King's body and the King's soul is now in Jang Gang's body.

2nd Time: Returning to Your Original Body

Jang Gang cast Alchemy of soul spell to return his soul to his body (I purposely placed a "no image available" picture to reflect what happened in the show).

Jang Gang's soul is back in his body and the King's soul is back in his body.

Analysis On What We Just "Saw"

So what just happened? This is what all of you would say:

We saw Jang Gang switch bodies with the King. Then we saw him switch back.

Actually no, you didn't see Jang Gang switch back to his body. This scene was purposely left out. We only know they had switched back because we saw them talking to one another about what all happen once they had return to their original bodies.

Review of Naksu and Mu Deok Soul Swapping

Keeping in mind all of what I just said, why did you automatically assume that this scene here was the 1st time? I'll tell you why. It's because this was the first time you had "seen" this particular swap. You immediately jumped to the conclusion that because this was your 1st time "seeing" the scene, it meant it was the 1st time it "happened". Because seeing is believing right?

From there, you made tons of other flawed assumptions because you did not think. You let what you physically saw with your eyes fooled you. Which I might add is one of the major themes of AOS.

There were a very rare percentage of people who actually thought about things and asked, "are we sure this was the 1st time and not the 2nd time?". Those types of people are the ones you should be friends with. The rest are sheep.

Those who made the assumption this was the 1st time diminished Naksu's soul. You all made Naksu's soul the unremarkable one and placed Mu Deok's soul on a God like pedestal. You made it out to be that Naksu's soul could not be great on its own, despite there being multiple scenes showing otherwise. Most saw that Naksu's soul could only be great if Mu Deok soul's was a part of it in some shape, way, or form. From there, you made the false correlation that because Naksu's soul was not great, it could not be Jin Bu Yeon's soul. You took your God like Mu Deok soul and made that it the great one.

If you had been smart and thought this was the 2nd time, you would've seen that between these two people, the only great soul was actually Naksu's aka Jin Bu Yeon. It was Naksu/Jin Bu Yeon's great soul that allowed the body to physically see and not the other way around.

Sorry to break it to you people, but Mu Deok's soul went back to her original body and died. The end. That's the cold hard truth you all refused to "see".
