Hi everyone!! I’m currently conducting a research project for a class. My thesis discusses the global impact that Preacher’s Daughter by Ethel Cain produced. In order to provide evidence for my claims, I need data that relates to my thesis. Thus, I created a survey that anyone familiar with Ethel Cain and/or Preacher’s Daughter can fill out. i am beyond frustrated and upset about this election result, i cannot even bare to think how those in the US must be feeling right now.

i am upset, angry, confused, and scared for what the next four years will hold. and those feelings become all the more amplified when i remember that this is the world that my generation will inherit in a few decades time.

70 million people voted for a convicted felon, abuser, racist, and misogynist to govern one of the most powerful country in the world - one that prides itself on democracy and the protection of human rights.

what we are about to see in the next four years will be nothing short of horror. of that i am sure.

to go into my all-girls school today, and feel the sinking energy of other young women around me, with my own teachers and educators equally upset at this outcome, was terrifying.

if the women in the UK are scared, how do those in the US feel?

i cannot fathom that human rights have been traded for lower grocery bills.

i cannot fathom that a man who talks about in such a way as he does has been elected for president.

i cannot fathom that this is the world we live in, and that the political climate of the globe is getting worse. how is it getting worse?!

The response to the announcement of Perverts online, specifically on TikTok, has confused me. I did not expect to see so many people surprised and even disgusted by the simple title of the album. Claiming that it's gone a step too far, or it's going to be hard to repost or interact with an album called 'Perverts' is very telling of how few people have actually analyzed or sincerely engaged with hayden's previous works. Of course it's okay to lightheartedly enjoy a piece of media, but an unconventional album title should be nothing surprising based on the topics hayden has an affinity for discussing. Perverts is going to be heavy and it's going to be dark, but so was Preacher's Daughter, Inbred, Golden Age, and Carpet Beds. The simplification of these works deeply saddens me. Why should anyone's main focus when enjoying a piece of media be the thought of how much online interaction it will get when you post about it?
