I always found Reaper Leviathans to be both the bane of my existence (darn thing gave me a heart attack) and my favorite speculative critter.

The giant mandibles, in my opinion, are not distinctly used to crush subs like one would think, but based on their sandy biomes such as the Dunes and Crash Site (possibly a Dunes esk zone before) and the amount of times I've seen them chasing Sand sharks, I think that those mandibles work like whiskers. They'd probably use them to stir up the sand and chase up the sharks, but also for territorial battles and competition as evidenced by the scars on their faces. They're also pretty beefy too, so I think that they need to eat a LOT which further explains the competition and probably why they attack the subs. They don't think the subs themselves are food, but instead competition and attack them to keep them away from the Reapers' food sources. The only time I can see them being communal is when they're seeking mates, i.e. that one corner in Dunes with uh 7 Reapers I think? Now the Mountains biome is the one outlier, but I think it's the place for either defeated Reapers to scavenge or a spot for them to have their kids. There's a lot of little caves in the area, so I think that it would serve a safe place for little Reapers to grow up and learn how to mess with their mandibles, but also a safe place for defeated, weaker Reapers. I noticed that the Reapers in the mountains (from my experiences) aren't as territorial as those in the Dunes or Crash Site, for example: Cassie, the one Reaper who doesn't look cranky all the time.

Anyway I just wanted to garble some speculative biology this morning- still watching sharks and it's inspiring the marine biologist in me :3

this is a gif from show and tell, which the comment above says is set in THIRD GRADE. the typical 3rd grader is NINE. she is slapping her ass and hip thrusting while portraying a 9 year old. we aren't viewing it in a different way, we're seeing what's already there because we aren't blind fans. the only reason we're seeing it as creepy is because we aren't in love with her and see what she is doing.
