Fam, be careful with your time online. I highly recommend sinking some time and energy into offline pursuits.

Try: knitting or crochet; gentle movement, stretching, walking if you can; playing a musical instrument, whether it's piano or penny whistle; and especially reading.

I do not mean performative BookTok reading that we do for likes because our neurotransmitters have been nerfed by modern life.

I mean actual reading that we do for ourselves alone.

If reading is hard, if attention or energy or memory are operating at a deficit, I get it. Nevertheless, please try. If you notice you're skipping across big chunks of text like a river stone, if you can't finish a paragraph, slow down, pronounce the words out loud. Stop sometimes and ask yourself what you just read. Explain the story or article or poem to your blorbo or your cat or a stuffed animal.

If your head feels scrambled up, no judgment. We may have incredibly intractable neurochemical reasons that this is hard. Just tell the blorbo, "That's hilarious, I don't remember any of what I just read. Let's read it again, together."

(Please don't ask A.I. to do this for you. Please. It's your right to read and think about it your own way. A.I. doesn't actually understand anything. Please don't assume it will guide you safely through this next weird phase of our human culture.)

If reading longform, offline, makes you feel bored or anxious, be gentle and patient with yourself. Start with stories you remember well, reliable sources of well-being. But please know you will need to put some backbone into it in the long run.

I think we are going to need to rebuild our ability to think, to process experience. This will be an unsupported activity. In fact, most of the really powerful cultural forces are making it very hard for us to notice, feel, perceive, or think clearly.

Not sure what, but something's happened quite recently that is making this situation much worse, some kind of tipping point.

daisuke, wealwell, maxwell are like that wolf, chicken, grain problem where if you leave daisuke alone with wealwell he'll kill him, and if you leave wealwell alone with maxwell he'll kill him and you have to get them from one side of gath to the other but you can only fit two of them in your lifeboat at a time.

The Court of Stars kind of sucks, so surely some elves oppose it. Maybe some of the tenajaras from Kei Lumennura have some rebellious tendencies, being raised away from central Fallinel, and want to change some things.

Wolfsong would be a big point of contention, as Orthodox worshippers of Galicaea probably object to Tracker's version of worship, and would try to shut her down. If they did, it would be pretty unpopular with some of the elves, and you'd probably get a faction developing to defend Wolfsong and New Galicaeanism. It could boil over into war, especially with the modern state of religion in Spyre. Galicaea's dead sibling (and former villain) is back, and so is her wife. Helioism is getting a bit shaky (I made a post about this a bit ago). The idea of worshippers twisting their God into what they want is probably being increasingly brought up in theological circles. The Court of Stars would need to tighten their grip, and they've kidnapped an Oracle for not obeying them before so I don't think this would be a huge stretch.

Adaine would doubtless get dragged into this, as Elven Oracle, because obviously both sides want the Oracle to help them. Seeing into the future is a great tactical advantage, not to mention it's a strong sign that you're on the right side if you have literally the most important Elven spiritual figure helping you. I feel like Adaine would either help the rebels/anti-Court of Stars people because fuck Fallinel's government, or she would try to stop it going into full on war.

Aelwyn would probably get involved if Adaine did, but otherwise I think she might just sit back, drink tea, and pray on Fallinel's downfall. That or she'd take advantage of the chaos to take over Fallinel herself out of boredom.

Naradriel would be in an odd position because obviously she wouldn't be hugely chummy with Tracker, but she seems like she would want to help in some way, despite not being particularly savvy and being a literal Princess. So she could lean either way- going deeper into the Court of Stars or joining the rebels.

The potential of the Abernant sisters joining the war would be quite fun, especially considering the severe gap between Elven and Solesian standards of warfare. Elves probably carry out long, drawn out campaigns with arranged battles and one-on-one fights between leaders, spontaneous battles during fights or something, I don't know. Then the Abernants come in and pull some insane guerilla tactic and all these venerated, honour-bound elven generals have no response.

So yeah, Fallinese civil war. Could be fun.
