Did a school visit today and asked a group of 8th graders if they could define the term "contemporary art" for me [for context, I work at a contemporary art museum], and one of them said "Is it art that's made with contempt?"
And unfortunately that's the funniest thing a student has ever said to me in 10 years of teaching

I love the idea of Roxas befriending Kairi because he’d just let her be angry about everything. When most of their friends have some level of toxic positivity he’d just let her feel the anger and sadness about this entire situation. Her life has been interfered with since the very beginning, she’s lost not one but two homes, she’s lost her friends, she’s constantly used as a form of manipulating Sora, and then she doesn’t even get to go help save him because she needs to train? The girl has so many reasons to be angry and I think the only person who’d get that 100% is Roxas

Maybe I’d get romance more if people didn’t talk about it like a myth.
“You’ll know it when you find it❤️”
Is it a sword? Are we talking about Excalibur because it sure sounds like we’re talking about Excalibur.

I was raised Catholic, as far as I know every member of my family is Christian, mostly Catholic. I avoid going to church as much as I can while I still live with my parents cause I feel alone and scared every time because very, very few people know that not only am I aro ace and agender, but eclectic pagan as well.
This does affect everyone and I can't deny there are still times I think in that mindset. I can only try my best to keep growing as a person here.
A lot of people hate to hear this, but they in particular really need to understand it.
If you were raised in the US, and you weren't specifically raised as a specific religion other than Christianity, then you are culturally Christian. Yes, even if you were raised atheist. Yes, I know you hate that idea. People who were raised in specific other religions in the US are usually still influenced by it, just not as thoroughly.
But specific Protestant values and attitudes have worked their way so far into US culture that we do not ever think about. (They've gotten into US Catholicism, too, Catholics elsewhere are frequently WTF at US Catholics, or so I'm told.) The "Protestant work ethic" is one of them, that "manager in your head" you should kill. Purity as a principle. The nobility of suffering (very Calvinist specifically). The prosperity culture (again, very Calvinist). A whole list. I'm honestly not good enough at Christian history to list it all. After all, I wasn't raised Christian myself. But I can see and acknowledge that I was raised in a culture with a Christian hegemony. If I pay attention, I can see where it's affected how I think. And when I do pay attention and look at it, I can change it. I can root out those patterns in my head. It's a lot of work, but it's well worth doing.
Denying that you are culturally Christian on the basis of your absence of Christian upbringing, or absence of Christianity now, just shows that you don't understand what cultural Christianity is. It is the culture that you have marinated in all your life, if you grew up in the US. The same way you've marinated in racism, classism, sexism, right on down the line (and generally they are all one thing). All of that affects you, and the only way to fix it is to acknowledge it and work on it.
This isn't a "hot take". It's just a fucking fact.
I'm posting at 10:30pm US Pacific time on a Sunday night, and fucking nobody is going to see this. Or reblog it. But I feel better having said it.

If you're a TERF you're a gender fascist. No other way to spin it. You claim your ideology is about protecting women and children but what it actually necessitates is an overfixation on people's genitals and the persecution of a minority group that does not actually hold institutional power. You insist on fitting humanity into two strict boxes that do not reflect the true diversity present among 8 billion of us. The moment you start talking about "large gametes"--what the fuck are you doing?
All fascists cloak their actions in protective language. But unless you're going after the white male billionaire class that actually holds the most power and does the most harm to both humanity and the planet, you're not protecting anyone and your "resistance" is not worth anything.

When I say purity culture has no endpoint, what I mean is that they will never run out of people to cut down. If porn was made illegal and all of the perverts were run out of the country, the jesus freaks would immediately turn on each other. They require an enemy to function, and will create one of their friends if need be.
