I think an important perspective to consider with Belinda’s sudden baby is that while no, she never expressed interest in having a baby during the show, why would she? She’s not in love with the Doctor, she never was, even when they had a baby together I got the vibe that it was supposed to be like a platonic parentage situation (asexual or even aromantic life-partner relationship representation possibly?) so why would she talk about wanting to have a child with him?

However, she talked constantly about her family. Her parents, her grandmother… she was set up as a very family-focused person. I think it makes perfect sense to me that she would want/be happy with a child. Seems to me that the slight universe shift didn’t change Belinda’s personality or desires for life, it just made it so that she got pregnant in a previous relationship that was never going to last. Which meant that, instead of living with roommates, she had to find a money for a house that could support her daughter as well. Or maybe she even moved back in with her mother! We got no confirmation on whose house that scene was in.

The Doctor Who fandom wondering what they’re going to speculate about now, now that both The Rani and Susan have returned.

To anyone who is saying that they should have just made the Master the villain in Wish World, I have some news for you

That story kind of already exists. Castrovalva, it’s the 5th Doctor’s first serial.

But this is not that. This is not a world created to mess with the Doctor. Yes, the world is manufactured and yes, it is messing with the Doctor but that is not the purpose whatsoever.

The Rani only needed the Doctor for two things, the power from the charged vindicator and the doubt of a Time Lord. And as soon as she had those things, she sent him falling with everyone else.

The Master would not do that. The Master would want to watch the Doctor break as the world he loved was destroyed. The Master would want to be there when the Doctor died, not just let him fall.

She is not “the female Master” we already have that, we have Missy and she’s amazing. She is also not being mischaracterized

The Rani is as logical, scientific, and focused as ever, she does not care how this effects the Doctor! Her monologue wasn’t even for her, it was meant to sow seeds of doubt in him because she needed his doubt specifically for reality to crumble.

The Rani was the perfect villain for this story.
