There is still hope for this generation.
Yesterday at the grocery, my sister and I saw a kid that looked ten or eleven, standing in the middle of the aisle. He was reading a book - and not just any book: The Children of Hurin, by J.R.R. Tolkien. He was so deeply engrossed in his book that he remained standing there, seeming almost oblivious to the people who were brushing past him and shoving him because he was in the way.
Also, this afternoon, I was reading peacefully when I heard the usual loud sounds of the kids playing outside our house. I was shocked when I heard one of the kids shout "Stupefy!" Another kid shouted "Protego!" in reply. Then came the sound of shuffling footsteps and the shouts of more spells, some of which I had almost forgotten.
It's nice to know that there are still some kids, however few, who, instead of drowning their ears with musical trash (if you can still call it music) or reading books like a certain vampire series that I will not mention, read the classics, perfect examples of true literature. Instead of texting all day, or wasting their time playing a certain game with furious flying avians that I will not mention, they go outside and practice their Stunning Spells and Shield Charms on their equally excited peers.
I salute you, children. You remind me of myself when I was your age. \m/

“It makes me laugh sometimes that these things that you have written in the heights of loneliness, in the middle of the night, when everyone is asleep - then suddenly there are 20,000 people singing it with you, its such a funny transition; because you could not have started in a more individual place.. To me, that is pure happiness.” -Chris Martin.

Quote
Let us acknowledge our neediness, our beautiful desperation. Yes, our unanswerable, aching, longing poverty is a prerequisite for the balm of salvation. We, the people—the failures, the losers, the outsiders—we have found our King. Christ, the King of the fools; the Lord of the sick, broken souls like us. Let us remain in continual awe of the love we have been shown. And let us love! Let us celebrate the reckless love of the one who risked all that we might be loved. And let us follow in the path of a God who loves us.

Who ever said that today’s music is an industry? It’s a FACTORY for beejeses’s sakes.
