I was browsing /r/GirlGamers between sets of a SmUsh tournament on Twitch. I saw this discussion post and decided to read it. The purpose of this post is to start a discussion on how to make gaming friends as an adult. The user's exigence comes from her need to make friends so that she can play games with them. She appeals to logos by explaining the steps she has already taken to make friends. She appeals to ethos by establishing that she is one of many older gamers struggling to find friends. She appeals to pathos by expressing her feelings of frustration on making friends as an adult. /r/GirlGamers is a good audience for her post since girl gamers often run into the problem of making friends locally. I actively engaged with this post by replying with my own experience with making friends locally.

I saw this discussion post while browsing /r/GirlGamers. The purpose of this post is for OP to get a better understanding of skill in FPS games. Her exigence comes from her desire to get better at FPS games. She appeals to ethos by establishing that she is a single player gamer that wants to play FPS games. She appeals to pathos by expessing her frustration at sucking at FPS games. She appeals to logos by explaining what methods she has tried to get better. Her audience at /r/GirlGamers is a good one for her discussion since many of us gals have trouble transitioning into FPS games from other genres. FPS games are now more marketed towards women than before, so I am not surprised to see these posts. I love FPS games, so I decided to give my advice on starting FPS games. I actively engaged in this post by leaving a comment and browsing for other tips.

A gamer gal posted this vent/discussion on /r/girlgamers. The post title caught my eye, so I clicked on it. The purpose of this post is to address negative stereotypes about women in gaming through a discussion about gaming experiences. The user’s exigence comes from her need to vent about sexist comments she has been seeing on the internet. She appeals to ethos by establishing that she has been playing video games online for 2 years. She appeals to pathos by expressing her frustrations. She appeals to logos by arguing that women should not be told to play healer because they are women. Posting this discussion to /r/girlgamers was a good idea since her audience on this subreddit is full of girl gamers that can relate to this post. After enjoying the title of this post, I read over the text and joined in on the discussion in the comments.
