Practicing finding a good level of detail when painting

Lately I've been working on my brush economy, meaning trying to get the painting done in a fewer strokes. I really love more painterly look but I have a really bad habit of overworking my paintings.
I have not set any specific stroke or time limit for myself, but one limit I've set is not to zoom higher than 50% and generally trying to work at lower zoom levels. At 50% zoom I see about 2/3 of the painting at a time. Working like this has helped a lot with not getting caught in minutia.
Also I've switched to brushes with less blending and a harder edge. I've mainly been using two brushes: Flat Oil Brush and juls oil from juls oil brushes. These are both free so I definitely recommend trying them out if you're a fellow Clip Studio Paint user.

Tried coloring a b&w painting with gradient maps. It's faster I guess but I still prefer painting with color on a few layers.

I'm trying to challenge myself and see what I can paint in one hour. Painted this mongoose fella in about 50 minutes. Hopefully doing more of these will help me become faster painter.
