If Sam were older - or perhaps if he were simply more familiar with the Professor everyone seemed to be drooling over lately, then perhaps he would have realized just how unlike herself she currently was. Or saddened. He knew she was sad, of course. Just remained unaware at to the extent that sadness went to. Or the reason behind it. 

Still, despite her words, he revealed the pumpkin pie he'd been holding behind his back, none of his awkward smiles present. "I wanted to thank you," he explained. "For the potions." If she even remembered that.

PLOT

After Voldemort’s return becomes known among everyone belonging to the wizarding community, a deeper rupture takes place between the four Houses. House unity has become not only improbable but damn near impossible. Slytherin remains mainly constituted by prejudiced purebloods; offensive comments aimed at muggleborns have grown more frequent from the house with a snake as a mascot and it seems appropriate that such come to be, given the venom they release on a daily basis. But the calculative students of the house of Slytherin are far smarter and hardly ever lose their temper; at least when compared to Gryffindor, whose students have been serving detention at an alarming rate for starting duels against the house of cunning. Hufflepuffs have grown quieter under the intimidating watch of Slytherin and only the older students seem capable of placing the arrogant ones in their place. As for Ravenclaw, they remain disconnected from the others, even among themselves, turning to books and knowledge to escape the tension piling up.

Dumbledore is now desperate to find a way to mend what the upcoming war and fear have broken and hopes that, if obliged to interact and communicate, students might learn that they’re not at all so different simply because they belong in another house, and would be far stronger if forces were joined. Hence, the Baby Project.

The general concept is each student donates a piece of their DNA and, once it’s determined who will be assigned to whom, a doll is brought to life temporarily. The DNA will be used in a charm which will then be placed upon the doll in order for it to resemble the paired students. 

Rules regarding the project:

If the number is uneven, three students will be assigned. This may happen on more than one occasion. 

It is possible that girls be assigned with girls and boys with boys.  

The assigned students will be requested to share dorms. Each will be given a room and the baby will have its own nursery.

Tasks are to be shared. No exceptions. 

A journal is to be kept, each belonging to a student where observations and progress are registered. At the end of each week, said journal is to be handed in to the Head of their house (Hufflepuff = Professor Sprout, Gryffindor = Professor McGonagall, Ravenclaw = Professor Flitwick, Slytherin = Professor Snape)

All children are to be left in the care of Madam Pomfrey after breakfast and until the end of classes. 

All students are currently in their 5th, 6th or 7th year. However Teachers and other characters (ex: Aurors) are welcome to join the verse as they are necessary for guidance, supervision and protection.

As the Head of each House is currently responsible for supervising their students on the Project, they have been dismissed from their teaching position but can be sought by the students should they need tutoring. (Ex: Professor McGonogall will not be teaching Transfiguration). 

OOC Rules:

No OOC drama

There are no set endgames. Just because you’ve been assigned with someone for the project doesn’t, by any means, translate to a set ship, I mean all the more drama, sneaking around with someone else.

Regardless of that, if you have someone you would prefer to be assigned to or do not want to be assigned with please come forward and speak to me. I’ll be more than happy to edit or take your choice into consideration. This is meant to be fun. Though such may not always be possible, seen as groups are formed based on the m/f ratio and houses.

Interact with everyone whenever possible.

Be active. We’ll run activity checks every week or so.

OCs are more than welcome, so are characters belonging to any and all other fandoms.

If the character you’re interested has been taken, you’re more than welcome to join by using a different FC just for this verse.
