a synthetic human born from the hands of rhinedottir - gold, witch R of the hexenzirkel. she wasn't perfect, but she was never broken. it was an equilibrium of sorts, that little anastasia. her name had come from the old remurian word for "resurrection"; looking back, her namesake remains true. her eyes had seen five hundred years' worth of suns and moons, as a child of khaenri'ah's eclipse dynasty, but besides being doomed to live for practically forever, it didn't seem so bad.

at least after somehow taming a beast of the wild hunt.

anastasia was a lightkeeper of nod-krai, having been so since she stepped foot into the realm of ice and snow. she'd dedicated her life to fighting against the wild hunt, the very abyss that ransacked the land in every corner possible. and even then she was still so young - even two centuries into her career as a lightkeeper, she cornered a weak shadow of the wild hunt, wounded from the battles of yore. against her better judgement, she cared for it like a treasured pet, nursing the creature back to health - and in return, the beast remembered her kindness. even as they crossed paths continuously on the battlefield, the creature of the wild hunt sought out anastasia's warmth despite the cold her vision carried. as if that creature owed her a great debt for saving its life rather than eradicating it on the spot - like any other lightkeeper would.

so instead, it stayed by her side, going as far as to protect its savior when beasts would overwhelm her in battle. thus anastasia gifted the creature its very own name - "viy", after the legendary snezhnayan monster that was said to kill those that looked directly into its eyes. t this day, anastasia houses her companion in a doll she keeps close to her, all while traveling across the world of teyvat to eradicate the wild hunt for good.
