"H-Hina!  Wait!" Kaguya cried out as she watched the goddess take off.

"She seemed upset...  Perhaps I should go after her?"

"I'm not so sure that would be a good idea.  She could be dangerous in that state--she may release even more misfortune than normal around her."

"You saw how distressed she was, though!  We can't just leave her alone."

"Mmmm, I suppose I can't stop you.  But please do be careful.  If she gives you any trouble, don't hesitate to come back."

"I'll be fine.  I'm immortal after all, so it's not like she could do any serious bodily harm to me anyway short of actually cursing me.  But she's nice, I don't think she'd do that to me..."

And with that, the princess took off into the sky in pursuit of her new friend.  Fortunately, it seemed Hina had not gone too far yet, and Kaguya managed to catch up with her before she even left the expanse of the Bamboo Forest.

"Hey Hina!" she called out, "Wait up!  Don't go just yet!"

"Oh wow, Gensokyo has more princesses now?!?  Excellent!  I must seek them out at once!

I'm not much of a singer, but together our karaoke will rival that of the Prismrivers and Choujuu Gigaku!"

"I only stole it for immortality because it was my chance to eventually find you and kill you. But the moment I realized you were also immortal, I knew my revenge will never be quenched, and that I will live forever with an unfulfilled wish."

"Well not all portions of the Outside world is filled with bombs or other unexploded Ordinance. Just some areas. The Unfortunate legacy of past Wars that'll haunt areas of the world for decades to come if not even longer. If anything this is what some people may call the modern malevolent ghost."

"It's a shame that human society is so plagued by violence.  If what you say is true, then they may very well be on the path to their own destruction.  Lunarian society may not be perfect--in fact I rather disliked it--but humanity could possibly stand to learn a thing or two from them about not being so barbaric."

"Hrrmmm..." Kaguya frowned as she heard the pottery shatter in the distance, "Did those rabbits knock over a vase again?  Damn, I'll take care of-"

The princess was then stunned into silence, her frown turning to surprise, as her guest made an outburst.  She didn't know what to do...  She realized she had clearly misread Hina's "shyness"--This woman really did think she was a threat.

"H-Hina...  Are you alright?  Look, everything's fine, see?  Nothing bad has happened yet.  If you want, we can go elsewhere-"

Kaguya's attempt at comforting was cut short by Eirin, who had come running down the hallway.

"Princess, are you okay?  I heard yelling..."

Upon seeing Kaguya's "company", Eirin quickly recomposed herself.

"Ahhh, I was not aware you had company.  Hello, Miss Kagiyama," she greeted with a polite, but serious, bow.

"Oh?  You already know her, Eirin?" Kaguya asked.

"Yes, I read about her in the newspapers and Miss Hieda's literature.  I'm a bit surprised you don't recognize her actually.  Didn't I buy you those books at your request?"

"Well yeah, but I didn't realize it would be so boring.  Most of her latest book was just some debate between the religious leaders about Gensokyo affairs and whatever.  They didn't even say anything about us like the last book did!"

"Yes, well, I'm afraid we're old news now, Princess.

But anyway, on to more pressing matters, Miss Kagiyama here is a misfortune goddess.  It's her job to gather misfortune, but she carries so much that she brings bad luck to anyone near her."

"Ohhh...  That would explain why she was resisting coming here this whole time.  I thought she was just being shy..."

"I see, so it was your idea to bring her here.  I appreciate you making a new friend, but I don't think it was very wise to bring someone like her here.  I actually saw some of my patients leaving, and just now some of my medical equipment broke on its own--and now I know why.

Perhaps it would be best for everyone if she left.  I've heard she was quite reclusive anyway, so I can't imagine she's having a very good time here herself.  We should be mindful of her wishes."

"Ahhh, okay then.  I guess it's for the best then."

"No hard feelings Miss Kagiyama, but with all due respect, I would appreciate it if you did not come by here in the future, for the sake of my patients.  I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience."

Eirin bowed respectfully to the goddess and headed off back to her clinic to tend to whichever patients decided to stay after Hina's arrival.

"Hehe...  What, did I manage to guess correctly?" Kaguya couldn't help but giggle at the woman's sudden shock.  "It's okay though, we fellow fugitives gotta look out for each other, right?  Come on, we're almost there..."

Kaguya continued leading Hina until they came upon the large Japanese manor sitting in the middle of the bamboo forest.  A few rabbits were frolicking out in the yard, and there was a small lineup outside one of the doorways.

"That over there..." Kaguya pointed out, gesturing toward the people, "is the clinic.  My friend and caretaker runs a clinic that's really quite popular with the humans, and even some youkai.  Today's a pretty busy day, so I've been incredibly bored and had no one to talk to.  That's why I'm glad you came!"

Kaguya led the woman toward one of the doors leading inside, unaware of the strange looks the humans in line were giving her "guest."  She could swear she felt Hina tugging on her arm as if she was trying to leave, especially when several humans actually got out of line and left after seeing the two of them enter the manor.  The princess, however, did not relent.

"Oh no, you're not going anywhere until we've at least treated you to some tea, I insist.  Don't pay any mind to those humans over there, they probably have other business. But you're my guest, so it's not like anyone can kick you out.  I am a princess, after all, and being one kinda comes with its perks~"

Once they were inside, a flock of rabbits approached, eager to greet them.  Kaguya held out her arms, anticipating their arrival--the rabbits were always rather happy to see new guests.  However, this time was different...  Right before they got close, as they spotted the guest, they immediately stopped in their tracks and turned around, sprinting back the way they came. 

"That's odd...  They usually love to meet new visitors.  Ehhh, must be feeding time," Kaguya pondered, not thinking about the possibility of her new friend's "bad luck" being the cause.

"So then, let me be the first to welcome you to Eientei, the House of Eternity!  We're happy to have you, Miss Hina Kagiyama... 

Huh...  I somehow recall seeing your name before, but I can't quite place my finger where...  I think it was in one of those books the Hieda child wrote...  Ahh, no matter.  I never read much of her writing anyway.  A bit too dry for my tastes.

Now then, can I help you to some tea?  Why don't you have a seat?"

Kaguya led Hina to a small room near the entrance with a table near the floor and some cushions to sit on.

"You're darn right, I did!  Honestly, what were you guys thinking, trying to screw with time when I've practically mastered it?  You didn't stand a chance!...  Then again, you didn't even know me up until then, so I suppose you get a free pass there."

"But you're right.  I did have quite a lot of fun that night.  I haven't had anyone to talk or show off my rare treasures to in ages, so at least you guys made things more exciting!

I swear, though, when my treasures aren't blasting you with bullets and lasers, they're quite a sight to behold.  You should come visit again some time when we're not in the middle of an incident."

"I suppose it is safe to say that you did in fact ‘whoop’ me. A cute word, don’t you think~?"

There she goes, being completely off topic. 

"I’m not sure how much I learned from it, though. I mean, it was such a wonderful night, I enjoyed the little battle we had~!"

Ma'am I Think you might be mistaken. A bomb squad is a group of trained professionals that Disarm Explosive Devices or otherwise safely neutralize Them. Of course there is a saying that goes like this, If you see a Bomb Technician running You best keep up, or how the military likes to say it. an EOD tech running for his life outranks everybody.

"Ahhh, so they're like incident-resolvers, but with bombs!

Hey, but incident-resolvers are only necessary because there are so many youkai that need to be put in their place from time to time..."

"...Does that mean the outside world is filled with bombs, then?!?!  The outside world sounds scaaaaary..."

"So, who else tasted that cursed elixir? You and Eirin couldn't have been the only ones."

"Eirin never drank it though.  She only made the Elixir for me and insisted she didn't want a sip.  She's lived so long, though, that I doubt she even needs it anyway."

"Though I did actually give a bottle to the Emperor of Japan way back when, which you just so happened to steal before he could destroy it. 

Honestly now, you talk about the 'cursed elixir' as if it's the worst thing ever, but look what you went through to get it!  And now thanks to your choice, you're going to be stuck with me for eternity, dear Mokou~"

Quick Call Bomb squad!

"There's a bomb squad?

Oh!  Are you talking about that time the shrine maiden and her friends all formed 'squads' and came to shoot up my house with all of those 'bombs' that they kept spamming every time I landed a hit on them?"

"I hated those 'auto-bombs' so much...  Didn't even give me a fair chance."

Since you are Immortal, I suggest waiting about another three centuries so that Humanity can Develop faster then Light travel. Then just uh go explore the Galaxy I guess. I'm pretty sure that'll keep you Entertained for a good while.

"You're 'suggesting' that I wait as if I have much of a choice in the matter.  I'm not going anywhere, so I will see all these technological advances on my own in due time." 

"But what's the rush?  I'm not in any hurry to leave Earth...  I've been here for so many years but I'm only just now able to explore it and find out all it has to offer.  Why would I leave that all behind when there's still so much left to do?  Besides, the rest of the galaxy will always be there, but Earth only has a few billion years before the Sun swallows it up.  I gotta enjoy it while I can!"

Oh hello there Princess. Have ya seen my BIG mallet anywhere? Tha one I tend ta fill with explosives? I need it ta support my back an' I currently can't get up.

"Big mallet?  Aren't they all big?  Wait, you mean to tell me we have a potential bomb in the mansion, and you only care about using it for back support?!?!

If you've lost it, who knows how long we have until some unsuspecting rabbit uses it to try to pound some mochi, and then BLAM--There goes Eientei!!!"

"RED ALERT!  RED ALERT!  WE HAVE A BOMB IN THE MANSION!  SWITCH TO DEFCON 1!  CALL THE PRESIDENT!  EVACUATE THE PREMISES!  FIRE THE MISSILE ARSENAL!  DUCK AND COVER!  EVERYONE TO THE SHELTER!"

"Awww, I was just messing around a bit with that human earlier.  But you don't need interesting stories to have a good time!  I've just been wanting someone to talk to lately since all my friends are really busy.  Let's go, it'll be fun!"

The princess then took the goddess by the arm and started leading her off toward the direction of her home.  She figured that this girl wasn't exactly outright refusing to come, she just seemed kind of shy...  Kaguya simply shrugged off the girl's warnings about "luck", thinking that she was just making up excuses.

The bamboo forest was too dense at this point to actually see Eientei, but Kaguya had memorized the route back.  As the manor slowly began to come into view, she turned back toward her "captive" guest.

"By the way, I don't believe I caught your name.  You kinda didn't mention it earlier...  Do you not have one?  Or are you in hiding and trying to keep your identity under wraps?"

"If so, you're really in luck!  Given my circumstances, I'm sort of an expert at living in hiding.  You can stay with us if you need to!"

Perhaps there's even more to this girl than Kaguya originally thought.

"Hey, you're the mind-reader here, not me.  Sadly I'm not really sure what kind of teas you'd have way down here, and I don't wanna keep bothering you by checking for different ones, so what the hell...  Surprise me!"

"So, while we wait, I've been wondering...  Exactly why do you live way down here?  There isn't much pointing in having such a huge fancy mansion where no one can see it or come to visit, is there?  And even the people who do come down here would have to pass by that awfully rowdy bunch of oni down by the underground village first--Not exactly hospitable."

"Of course I'm not one to talk...  My mansion's way out in the middle of a youkai-infested forest~  But at least that wasn't by my choice."

"Nice to meet you, Kaguya. I didn’t know there were so many mistresses of mansions above ground. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in that."

"Ah, okay. What kind of tea would you like? I’ll have my pets go and check for it if you have something in mind."

"Well I normally don't like being used by someone as a guinea pig, but now I'm really curious.  I'd like to see just how bad this restaurant is for myself now so we can all laugh about it later.

And if the food really is so bad that it can kill you, at least I should be fine.  I really am quite fortunate--If it weren't for my immortality, I wouldn't..."

"...Stand a ghost of a chance at surviving a meal there~"

"Trick or Treat!" Give me something good to eat!

2. My muse has to take yours on a date to the most disgusting restaurant in town.

"Erm….Kaguya-san? …so, Yuyuko-sama would like us to try out this one new restaurant in the Human Village with a bad reputation…." She’s really not sure how to put it. But one thing’s for sure - Kaguya’s not getting anything good to eat tonight.
