While most of us can agree that it's pretty in-character that Bakugou's rotten personality made him drop in the rankings, Horikoshi is again contradicting himself. What was the point of shoving in our faces that Bakugou's changed when his actions are telling an entirely different story? There are so many faults in Bakugou's character, but the worst thing is the difference between what we're told and what we're shown. We're constantly being told one thing by the other characters, but Bakugou's actions tell us an entirely different story.
And what's worse is this is something that's happened repeatedly.
Aizawa tells the audience Bakugou respects Uraraka as an opponent. Bakugou a) tells Uraraka she should have given up and b) assumes her plan was Izuku's
Aizawa says that Bakugou will never become a villain because he's so dedicated to being a hero. Bakugou rejected the LOV because they're losers he looks down on
Bakugou says that Izuku wouldn't leave him alone and that's what caused him to lash out. Their first interaction showed Bakugou confronting Izuku while Izuku does his best to make himself seem smaller
All Might tells us that Bakugou has dedicated himself to helping Izuku succeed and get better. The only thing Bakugou ever actually did in regards to OFA was attempt to force Blackwhip out
There are probably a ton of other moments I missed, but you get the point. We're constantly being told Bakugou's improving, but his own actions show us otherwise

Summaries of AUs that only exist in my head:
and we'll take the long way home
"Here," Midoriya blurts out, shoving a piece of paper in his hands. "That's ah. That's my address. And my number. So if you ever need a place to stay- or just! Just want to hang out, I guess, we could- go to my place? Or the park or the beach or anywhere, really. Not that you can't go there anyway, hah, but-"
"Midoriya," he cuts in. Opens his mouth, closes it. Hesitates. Then: "Thank you. I'll text you."
---
In a world where the dorms system is never implemented, Midoriya Izuku and Todoroki Shouto hang out on rooftops, wander the city, run from the police, get shipped, get banned from McDonalds, try very hard to flirt and only succeed on accident. Not necessarily in that order.
(Or, in a world where the dorms system is never implemented, they take the long way home)
2. here's to the ones that we got
"Okay. Okay so I know this is really, really hard to believe but I need you to bear with me, here." Izuku pauses and examines Todoroki to make sure he is bearing with him, here. Then continues, very fast: "I'm haunted."
"I believe you."
"I know how it sou- wait what."
"Midoriya," Todoroki says gravely "You are the last good person on earth. I would believe you if you told me that cartoon birds do you hair every morning. This is nothing."
----
So the thing is- Izuku is almost definitely haunted. This is, possibly, a Problem. Fortunately he has a ride-or-die best friend whom he trusts more than anything to confide in. Unfortunately, his best friend is fucking bonkers and probably owns a tin-foil hat.
Staring down Todoroki, who has an excited gleam in his eyes, an Oujia board, and three pots filled with liquids of suspicious origin, Izuku realises that he may have made a miscalculation.
(Alternatively, the vestiges try their hand at matchmaking)
3. BURY MY FEET IN CEMENT
'I'm sorry I didn't know you when we were kids. I would have iced the bruises on your back.' (-unknown)
----
Shouto feels almost betrayed as they hear the sounds of people slowly, carefully removing the rubble poised perilously over their heads. Why couldn't they have waited another hour? He-he doesn't want to leave yet. But he glances at his new(first)(and probably last) friend and says: "I guess this is it."
Another piece is removed and beams of sunlight penetrate through the cracks and make patterns on the floor. Izuku reaches across and takes his hand and squeezes. "No," he says, with more stubbornness and certainty than his nine-year old frame should logically be able to contain. "It isn't"
----
Most of the time, your childhood friendships are a matter of proximity- maybe you're neighbours or classmates or maybe your parents are friends.
But sometimes, and only sometimes, you get stuck in a building collapse together for two to three hour, confess your tragic backstories, imprint on each other like semi-confused, traumatized ducklings and go to ridiculous lengths to keep in touch. An Oh My God, They Were Childhood Friends AU

✊ Mentor Interview: All Might Edition Pt 1
Toshinori Yagi received quite a few interesting questions about Deku, Bakugou, and Todoroki! Dad Might obviously loves all his students equally. 😁
This week’s first reaction is brought to you by @youseimanami! More writing and art will follow tomorrow.

Iida just never stops being funny to me. In episode 123, when asked why he was tagging along with the heroes running to support in the fight against Shigaraki, despite not having a flying quirk, he legitimately responds with, “two of those students in the fight are my treasured, cherished friends. The other one is Bakugou”

i find it SO funny when ppl act like deku is one of those uwu pacifist protags like steven universe or aang cause like. listen. there is not a single problem deku hasn't solved by hitting it really hard. He got his quirk from all might by throwing his book bag into a villain's eye. he got tdrk to overcome his mental blocks & to like him by punching himself into unconsciousness. he got kouta to like him by punching muscular into unconsciousness. he got both eri AND sir nighteye to like him by punching overhaul into unconsciousness. he got hero killer stain to like him by punching stain into unconsciousness. he got shinsou to tolerate him by punching shinsou into needing medical attention. he got bkg to begrudingly respect him by punching bkg very hard. deku is very kind and compassionate and his main motivation in any given situation is his inherent need to help someone in need but that doesn't cahnge the fact that hes absolutely feral and down to fight at any given moment.

Cute thought: Shouto falls asleep on Izuku's shoulder during a group study session of some sort. The conversation of the awake study group members drifts to why Shouto seems touch averse with everyone who isn't Izuku. Suddenly a half asleep Shouto says "It's probably because I'm in love with Izuku." before seemingly drifting off entirely again. Everybody freaks out (Izuku especially) while Shouto somehow continues to nap.
“Todoroki, why do you sleep on Midoriya all the time?”
“Shhh. He’s trying to rest!”
“…it’s ‘cause I love him.”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“Midoriya holy fuck.”

Important mentions in the tags-
#how the fuck could they be considered a boring vanilla ship#in addition to everything mentioned above#they got the whole rivalry with their dads#and also with the narrative parallels with both of them having quirks that they don't really believe belong to them#there's the fact that todo's a socially awkward rich kid who doesn't know how to act like a human being#there's all the trauma that both boys have to deal with#listen#there is so much spice in this ship if you know how to write them properly
There is something so funny to me about TodoDeku being considered a boring vanilla ice cream kinda ship when the inception was a really cool fight scene in which Deku broke all the bones in his hands followed almost immediately by them almost murdering a vigilante to save their friend.
Like there is plenty of flavor here, loves. Its just not covering up the taste of them being mean to each other.
