The just-rescued cradle- the rescued character is injured/weak/overcome and is protectively clutched to their rescuer's chest in a half-sitting position, head lolling against their chest/crook of their supporting elbow, perhaps one feeble hand clutching a sleeve or hem, other characters gathering around and the rest of the conversation flowing over their head apart from the supporting character's reassurances.

when the team is resting because one of its members is ill enough to warrant bedrest for a few days and they get attacked. whether it's by the Big Bad or just a group of random bandits, now they have to fight. they battle in a circle, attempting to guard the sick character who can't defend herself. i just love the unspoken cooperation of a team who are defending someone with their lives, making sure that the trouble doesn't get too close to her.

When a character passes out with rough, hurting hands on them; beating, manhandling, restraining, shoving around- and wakes/comes back to awareness with kind, gentle hands on them; soothing, supporting, loosing bonds, tending wounds...

Don'nt you just fucking love it when a caretaker (especially a leader) has to be physically held back by two or more people to keep from desperately charging in to save someone they can't possibly save? The screaming and the mindless struggling as they try to get to their doomed teammate.
As they watch the blood spill. As they're tugged backwards and to safety with feet kicking dragging against the ground.
Useless.

love love love when already injured characters are caught by their teammates as they slump forward. When their words blur together into an incompressible mess. When they press a hand against their injury to no avail. The blood is seeping through, weaving down their wrist. "Let...go." Suddenly going pale, falling in and out of consciousness. "I'm-- I'm fine."
They're not.

One of my very favourite med whump tropes is when whumpee has been sick/comatose for weeks, and they're just coming back from it- the illness or injury that was keeping them down is fading, but the exhaustion is now setting in.
They sleep pretty much 23 hours a day, their body catching up on actual rest that isn't facilitated by a cocktail of medications. They wake up when they're told to, but as soon as they're allowed to fall asleep again, their eyes drift shut and they're gone. They can't even eat because they're so exhausted, so feeding tubes are necessary. Catheters keep them comfortable. Their only responsibility now is to sleep and recover.
And all the while, caretaker sits right at their bedside, stroking their hair and reassuring them gently every single time whumpee so much as stirs in sleep.

Nice whumpy thing: when people are intensely pragmatic about their injuries illnesses.
“Listen, if I pass out…”
“If you let up pressure, I’ll bleed out. So just, don’t move.”
“I know it ill hurt, just do what you need to.”

The most fragile and tender whumpee is right when they've started healing. Their wounds have started closing and any sudden movements risk tearing them open again.
Caretaker knows whumpee tends to get restless. They stay vigilant by their bedside for their every need; keeping them as content and still as possible.

An whumpee being halfway through recovery, and doing well enough to come across as healthy to someone who didn’t know that they were injured, deciding to do something strenuous with their teammates without telling them they were recovering from something. The whumpee eventually pushing too far during this, and their teammates having to look after them, and eventually getting the whumpee to explain that they were still recovering from something. The rest of the team immediately forcing the whumpee to take the proper time to recover, and swearing to themselves to keep an eye on the whumpee in future so nothing like this ever happens in the again.

another night, another post of h/c vibes:
- turning their head to press it into the caretaker's shirt and try to shut out the world around them. caretaker's hand instantly goes to stroke their hair gently
- arms limp and floppy as they're rolled over onto their back to tend to injuries, until someone grabs their hand and weaves their own fingers into it for grounding and reassurance for both of them
- drops of water or medicine running out the side of their mouth as caretaker urges them to swallow
- friends sitting on either side of their sick and wounded companion, keeping them safe as they toss and turn and fight against delirium-driven nightmares
- wrapping bandages around bruised, sprained ankles or wrists, playfully scolding them for not being more careful
- carefully washing dried blood out of someone's hair with a damp rag as they finally get some sleep after a long day
- absolutely has other things to be doing, but none of these things are happening, and instead they're sitting in a hard chair waiting and worrying because their badly hurt friend said stay with me and who could leave after that... the things are going to have to take care of themselves

So if we were to do some math, how long the rope should be to tie all the whumpees

Body Aches Sickfic Prompts🤒😫:
1: Constantly clinging to caretaker because everything hurts, they're miserable, and they don't know what to do with themselves.
2: Crying any time something cold touches their sensitive body.
3: Being extra sensitive to bumping into things, or to rough touch.
4: Just straight up inconsolable crying because they feel bad all over and they're just fed up.
5: Cuddling with caretaker in a warm shower/bath.
6: Being fed pain meds by caretaker.
7: Whining while getting a massage from caretaker, because even the lightest touch hurts.
8: Curled up in bed, not wanting to move and swaddled in blankets.
9: Being super uncomfortable on a car ride because every bump is painful.
10: Making a bed for themselves in whatever the warmest room in the house happens to be.

Some of my favorite magic side effects:
-Nosebleeds. Never gets old.
-Coughing up blood. The good ol’ “cough into your hand and pull it back to see blood” also never gets old.
-Headaches. You keep fighting as your head pounds, desperately telling you to take a break. At first they fade within minutes when you stop using magic, but overtime, they become chronic.
-Fatigue. After a big battle, you stand triumphant, and then just fall asleep on the spot.
-In a similar vein, overuse causing you to straight up faint rather than just fall asleep. Darkness begins to overtake your vision in the middle of battle, unconsciousness abruptly looming over you.
-Any of the side effects happening to another person. Maybe two close characters are connected, and whatever side effects character A would normally endure are transferred to character B. When A uses a blast of magic B screams loudly because holy shit that hurt.
-Magic gradually deteriorating your mind. Using it too much eventually caused hallucinations and an inability to retain memories, or even larger scale memory loss.
Feel free to add more, I’m looking for some to steal
