great question. while a lot of these gofundmes started to fund evacuations, since the border will not open they have shifted to covering the costs of daily survival in gaza

the cost of food alone in gaza right now has been reported by journalists on the ground (including @siraj2024) to be 20 times the normal price.

and it varies based on location. the north is currently being starved by the IOF so food prices are higher

and there is a lot of evidence on tumblr that proves that these fundraisers do help

@ma7moudgaza2 was able to buy a tent for his family and is currently trying to pay for a solar panel

@siraj2024 was able to secure rent for a (bombed out, but still) apartment for his family over the winter

@mohdiwais was able to fund medical care for his sister after she was shot by the IOF using funds he raised on tumblr

a gaza-based charity called care for gaza has also been directly assisting families with funds used from their gofundme. they even post videos of themselves giving out food

and those are just a few examples. hope this helped!

I just dislike my time on here, the functionality gets worse over time and what's been keeping me here is the culture that's growing stale and a bit "oooh look how cool we were in the past"

Not like new good stuff isn't happening more but on a much more corporatized platform like tumblr is now there's just no ground for anything to sprout on.

That's always how it goes: good design and nice promises, user culture builds up. Users are bound to platform through friends and optimism that bad changes are temporary, users trust gets abused in the name of profit. Functionality erodes, user friendlyness erodes, platform culture changes as users become more used to and more willing to engage in the profit schemes on the off chance that they don't just spend a lot of effort into getting scammed and instead become rich and famous like *insert person*

Tumblr is shit, stop saying that calling advertisement posts "blazed" is funny cuz of the three weed smoking girlfriends or whatever, it's not funny. It's advertisement that doesn't need to call itself advertisement because you can do it to other people's posts too and making others see (your) posts is the point of posting. This is a loophole. Blaze gets portrayed like it's a superchat or whatever, but no one gets any money except photomatt (who should die in a car hammer explosion fyi)
