Yup
I have never been so disappointed/unsatisfied with a Cassandra Clare novel. What made TDA so special in the beginning was the fresh new cast of interesting characters all distinctly different. Kieran, Christina, and Mark were some of the best but by qoad the relationship between was so repetitive and dull, did we really need 900 pages for them to figure out they love each other??? Malcolm was such a gOOd unconventional villain. Horace was predictable, and not smart or cunning like past villains
kierarktina were SO ANNOYING in qoaad. i was so tired of them that i ended up skimming their scenes–which weren’t even relevant to the plot.
malcolm was a GOOD villain, he had sass and everything i love in a villain! horace was just infuriating and too easy to defeat in my opinion? god qoaad was so weird

This is exactly right. Either Emma or Julian should've died. I also hated that part where they turned into giants, magically fixed everything, and of course ended up fine, conveniently ready to date.
in qoad the large scale battle lowered the stakes and there was never a scene where I was concerned for the characters safety. there were no serious consequences for ANY thing other then Kit and Ty's heated argument lol. CC can't let characters from the past go when their stories should have ended with their series. Not that I don't love all the returning characters it just feels fan servicy self serving and not important to the plot. THULE was def the worst part, idk what are ur thoughts??
Thule sucked and I hated it, so slow-paced and boring. I didn’t like how it was constant Emma/Julian POVS and it didn’t switch to any other TDA character (which i understand why that didn’t happen but it still made it super boring for me to read)
I was expecting lots of character death, considering “everything changes” and it’s a last book in a series but woooow that’s not what happened, literally everyone lived??? what the fuck??
and so true, the most serious and angsty thing that happened in the end was kit and ty’s separation…

The end of the Dark Artifices, The Queen of Air and Darkness, intrigued me so much I want to know what will happen next with Jace and Clary, Kit, etc., or even on the Thule world ! I researched on the Internet when you will release the next book but I cannot find anything about a next book that will tell us what will happen to them…
I don’t want to put the screws to you but do you know what will be the name of your next series which will follow the end of the Dark Artifices ? So that I can research the date of release, and the rest of this series! — Célia
Hey! So for a lot of you this is old info, but here’s the projects I have coming up, and the dates of release. If something is “unscheduled” that just means the publisher hasn’t assigned it a specific release date yet. That’s pretty common for books I haven’t started writing. It doesn’t mean they’re coming out after all the other books. It just means I don’t know when exactly they’re coming out yet.
So, Celia (and everyone), here’s a list of the different projects I have coming out, and descriptions of them.
The Last Hours: A Shadowhunter series, this follows the next generation of young adults after Will, Jem, and Tessa in The Infernal Devices. Cordelia Carstairs heads to London to save her father’s honor only to find herself swept up in a series of demonic events.
The Wicked Powers: The one Celia’s asking about, which continues the events of the Dark Artifices. The first book isn’t scheduled yet, but will come after Sword Catcher, the Last Hours, and the second Eldest Curses book. There really isn’t much info about it online because it’s unscheduled, but it’s coming.
The Eldest Curses: Follows the adventures of Magnus and Alec. The first book dealt with Magnus discovering some alarming information about his past, and the second deals with him discovering some alarming information about his possible future. And going to Shanghai. With most of his friends. If you’re missing Magnus and Jace and Clary and Alec and Isabelle, this is a good fix. Also if you like Malec.
Sword Catcher: A brand new adult fantasy series which I am super excited about, set in a fantasy city called Castellane. A young woman is assigned to be the personal physician to the biggest criminal in town. A young man finds out the prince whose bodyguard he is might not be such a great guy. Swords, intrigue, magic, explosions!
Release dates:
Chain of Gold (The Last Hours #1): 3/3/20
Lost Book of the White (The Eldest Curses #2): 9/1/20
Chain of Iron (The Last Hours #2): 3/1/21
Sword Catcher: 9/2021
Chain of Thorns (The Last Hours #3) : unscheduled, probably 2022
The Black Volume of the Dead (The Eldest Curses #3): unscheduled
The Ragpicker King (Sword Catcher #2): unscheduled
The Wicked Powers: unscheduled
Hope that helps!

hey cassie, I was wondering if there'll be more kit-jace bonding in twp? jace is so soft around him and slips so easily into that teasing older brother role, their interactions in tda were a delight!
I think that probably falls under the category of “I can’t say yet,” but I really did enjoy writing them together!

Exclusive Art Reveal: Hot faerie brothers + book news .@cassieclare
We haven’t had an exclusive reveal in a while so I’m thrilled to share two gorgeous art pieces with you today! We met both of these characters in The Dark Artifices and I’m sure a lot of us liked one character way more than the other. 😉 I’m talking of Kieran’s brothers Adaon, whom we met in Lord of Shadows, and Oban, who was introduced to us in Queen of Air and Darkness.
Here’s your look at the…

This is why I love this fandom.
Let’s talk about Jaime Rocio Rosales
Jaime is, in my opinion, one of the most interesting characters in TDA, and probably one of the most mysterious ones. I always had so many questions about his past and how he was portrayed through other characters.. so I would really want to try and crack that enigma open.
1. The main thing that always bothered me about him was what Diego said about him: “He is my brother, but he is—He was born with something missing, I think, some piece of his heart where compassion lives..” It’s a harsh thing to say, not something one will do lightly, and we never got an explanation to why he said that.
From the outside, he seemed perfectly fine.. a bit rebellious and mischievous, but there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, one of the things that made me see him in a really good light is his relationship with Dru.
He always had respect for her, and even after he found out about her age, he had such honor in him to be by her side while she went with her family to try and save Emma and Julian. He never treated her like he only needed things from her.. he was kind - and kindness speaks volumes.
His relationship with Diego was also a beautiful one: the way he tried to make him laugh even when he thought he was about to die, the way he cared so much when he got hurt in the final battle. Plus, let us not forget about his strong will and endurance in face of death for a cause that he truly believed. All of these things show us a kind, funny, strong young man.
So why did Diego said those things about him? The choice of words is extremely strong, and didn’t seem random to me.
2. The second thing I was wondering about is Jaime’s tattoos - we know he has many. We don’t know much about him, or them.. but once Dru read that one of them said “La sangre sin fuego hierve” which means Blood boils without fire. Wikipedia said it “Comments on the strength of blood bonds”.. that made me wonder - who, or what is it about?
Jaime seemed to care a lot about his family honor. He even “planned” to betray Christina, or at least blabbered about it while he was drunk, so he could restore his family’s honor. But is that what it’s about?
Or maybe Jaime had a bond with someone? We only knew how close he was with Christina, and I don’t see him having a tattoo in honor of their relationship - they were supposed to be Parabatai, and that’s supposed to be more than enough. Maybe he did it after she left? But not her nor Diego made any comment about his tattoos, which probably means they already knew about them.
We also know he was secretive and used to disappear for long periods of time.. maybe the source of this particular mystery lies in one of his solo adventures?
3. The last thing, and that’s something that people already speculated about.. was that slight interest he showed in Kit and Ty. Was it because he knew something about them? Was it because he found one (or both) of them attractive? Was it because he had seen their connection and it sparked something in him? It definitely made many of you ship him with Kit, or de-ship him with Dru (and let’s not get into the age issue).. and even though I’m not sure it was meant as a shipping hint, I definitely think it wasn’t a casual comment.
There are no true answers to any of my questions, and Cassie never answered any of my asks about him.. but the fact still remains - Jaime is one of the most mysterious characters in TDA, and I can’t wait to find out what his real story is.
