With these pieces it was bringing the idea from my pencil sketches I had done into the painting medium, I enjoy the way it has made the texture of the skin making it surreal and somewhat effortless. With some I had made the backgrounds move defused however keeping them dull.

Continuation from sketchbook work using pencils to divide the colour from each part of the face and breaking down each section of skin, pushing the boundaries on what colours do and don’t conventionally work. Also destroying the background into an effortless scribble of a block colour making the piece all about the subject in its form.

With my work continuing from the still life I decided to do a somewhat psychedelic piece from my still life of my desk and kitchen. Painting these places made the pieces feel a lot more personal to me and I was looking into the artist of Natalia Klevaia an artist that takes everyday situations and portrays them with a beautiful mix of colour and texture also making here pieces of work feel personal and elegant.

Statement
With my art I like to combine abstract with realism to make its own art movement, instead of staying with one art method I enjoy dabbling with varies forms of materials much like sand, wood and oil pastels as well as many more. Mixed media is a passion of mine whether it be paint with pastels or fine liner, I don't like to restrict myself with my work and try to mix it up as much as I can. I enjoy working from still life and doing observational work, I believe it can show a variety of art styles and techniques also when working with still life I feel the finished work has more movement and life to it rather then a copied picture. In the future I would like to do more still life and carry on with this enthusiasm I have for this type of work, I would also like to take my own pictures and do work from this. Furthermore, I like to paint or draw out scenes from a film where some could be expressing a lot of emotion. I also have an interest in surrealism and portraits and making my work out of the ordinary, a couple of artist that inspire me are Kate Clark, Jenny Saville and Jean-michel Basquiat people who all embraced their passions as I like to do and will continue to do. I am ambitious to proceed with my work and let my style and passion continue on for years to come. In the future I would like to also work with film and photography by working this into my art with painting, drawings and collages. I would like so keep my views open for the future as well and let nature take its course by leading me further and further into the things I love about the artistic world.

These are some impasto portraits of a snake and kingfisher used with a range of materials including sand, acrylics and wood. I painted the kingfisher onto a black background so that the colours would be more vibrant and stand out, I also used a pallette knife so that the paint was thicker. With the snake i used a thick paint brush only, so that the paint layer would be thick and on the scales they would stand out and be textured.

With these two paintings I have avoided the idea of blending the colours much like impasto work. These two are different in the sense of colour used within them. This is because in the warmer/darker ares of the paintings, I have chosen to use unusual colours for lighting.

These two paintings are inspired from the surrealist artist Kate Clark. One being painted onto a piece of cardboard with ripped parts to involve texture within, on both I painted human faces onto different animals one being a zebra and the other a couple fish. I gave this both bright backgrounds so that they would stand out more in the outcome. With the cardboard one it shows a range of materials to get to the final outcome including fine liner white ink and acrylic paint.

Here are some portraits of two women expressing two blank emotions, also shows off the techniques of dry brush strokes. The backgrounds are quite dull to direct focus on to the faces. These paintings show layers with the way I have painted and the individual brush strokes.

Here are some graffiti styled oil pastels on to portraits. Both are inspired by New York based artist Basquiat however mixed with some realistic faces within. The right with an almost stained glass background unlike the other painting on the left where I drew out a monkey with three expressive faces. This is to represent souls within one living being. Both show a range of mixed media with the use of acrylic paints and oil pastels.

This is a monoprint of abstract faces that I then cut them up and collaged them to show colour and composition. The formal element I used in this is colour. This is from putting complementary colours next to each other to create a clash which creates a bold effect.

The is some surrealist work with a rabbit and a monkey’s head on top of some half naked bodies chained together with a bright yellow background with a circle like halo surrounding them both. This was inspired from the death grips album cover ‘money store’. I also choose to adopt this style as we were studying surrealism this is therefore the reason why I blended these corpses.

Here are some mixed media pieces of textiles cardboard and paper. Both cardboard including cut out triangles however one including a portrait of jimmy Hendrix holding sunflowers instead on how it was originally with the guitar. and it also includes triangles with paper made with flowers, making it a mixed media surreal piece of work. This is a textiles piece of an old family photo including some embroidered colours. Finally a surreal rabbit with an abstract human body and space helmet which is a take of the surrealist art movement. Moreover all these picture show different formal elements with my work.

These are three dry point etching prints of a mixture of animals put into one including a squirrel head and arms, armadillo shell, lizard back legs and tail and goat eyes. This was used as a surrealist piece of work with the technique of carving and printing this animal onto paper. Printing with three different colours shows a range of outcomes of this print.

Observational drawing with a variety of objects using white pen onto black paper instead of having pencil on white paper. This was inspired by the scientist Ernst Heckle, it includes a chicken foot, crab leg, butterflies and a pepper cut in half.
