Dreadful by Nyssa Winters

Two words: Ravishingly Raw.

That’s all my thoughts summed up into two simple words. I was ravished by how raw this story is. Dreadful by Nyssa Winters is such a beautiful piece of prose. It’s heartbreakingly beautiful in fact, and it was just.. amazing! 

I felt like I was being torn apart only to be put together again. I felt like screaming, crying, I wanted to step in, give these characters a hug, because damn, I felt their anguish. 

I felt their anguished love. I felt their wrath of their simply bended, not broken, marriage.

Oh my word. 

This was so well written, there wasn’t anything too long or too drawn out, nope. This encapsulated Dorian and Ariella’s story so well, I shed a few tears. I shed a few tears but kept going from page to page. Chapter to chapter, trying to pacify myself, but it was so worth it at the end. 

This is one of those books that make you forget that you’re reading, that you’re simply just reading words on a page, reading the work of someone else. This makes you forget that completely. It makes you dive into your feelings, curl up, cry, laugh, and try to walk just one step in the shoes of Dorian and Ariella. 

And the sad thing is, most of us probably can’t. So yes, this is inspiring too.

The Six Night Truce by Hannah Shield is certainly not one to miss! Fast paced with toe-curling action that has you at the edge of your seat with such a sweet enemies to lovers steamy romance, what more is there to ask for!

Talk about a well put together book that mixed facts and logics for a truly enjoyable read. This dives into the lives of defense attorney, Jane Simon and detective, Sean Holt as they encounter something that will truly change their lives all together. 

Sean Holt is one, hot, most mature, single dad that is the definition of a M A N. Boys. step aside, this dude knows just how to charm his way to a woman’s heart. Jane Simon is your fiery attorney with an attitude that bites back!

It is a good read with the perfect mix of thriller, mystery and romance! However, with the mystery being drawn out, I often felt like some plot lines were a little bit too convenient. But! That could totally be considered a plus side, for all perfect book!

The Recipe of You and Me - Claire Considine

The Recipe of You and Me is a cute novella, filled with all the likeable, toe-curling elements that make up a perfect rom-com. Enzo is pursing Lexi in hopes of becoming a partner in business, expect they cross the lines of pleasure and mix it with business one too many time. What you have left is a sort of insta-attracted love where the character just know that they’re meant to be.

 Actually, Enzo is just quite literally perfect! It is pretty refreshing to find a male character that respects boundaries when told or when not told to, someone who has not an ounce of the toxic possessive alpha-hole most is accustomed to. He is thee standard! 

“Why did you...?” “Kiss a pretty woman?” Enzo looked up from his screen. His accent made me even weaker. “I don’t think I need to answer that, no?”

Let’s just say, Lexi is just a tad bit infuriating. but in the sense that - she totally doesn’t let herself be pushed around, which is by far, a good thing actually! It was just a bit iffy to see herself constantly push and pull Enzo whenever she felt like, and that was the bad part. 

I constantly felt bad for Enzo, because Lexi could not make up her mind at all. But all is fine and dandy when she does finally realize how much he means to her. 

It’s a breath of fresh air to see the heroine chasing the hero as he’s about to leave. 

Overall, this is such a cute novella, it is hard to pass up at all! I do suggest giving it a try because it’s a breath of fresh air in the rom-com genre. However, I’m still pretty iffy about Lexi’s behaviour... but that may all together simply be subjective.

It’s a bit impossible for me to not RAVE about how fantastic this book was! I was unable to put it down for more than a few minutes at a time because it was THAT good!

Enter the world of Dominic, Juliana and Whitney, all intertwined by the single thread of fate in very unexpected ways. Prepare to have your mind simply blown away with intricate plot twists that just leave you begging for more. That’s how I felt - completely in trance! All within the same day of receiving this ARC, I completed it and I just could not wait to sit down and talk about how good this book had me. 

Just remember to have a check of the trigger and content warnings to ensure you are comfortable entering the dark world Dominic has to offer...

It has elements to tug you in, pull at your heartstrings and keep you guessing. The spiciness is definitely there! It was so well executed alongside a one-of-a kind plotline. 

Dominic curates his revenge against the one woman he’s only ever loved, yet when faced against her and one who shares very uncanny features, maybe revenge isn’t the only thing he wants. 

If you think you are going to expect anything that will be thrown your way, spoiler alert: you won’t! 

Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, disclaimed: you don’t!

Absolution is just, amazing. I enjoyed every single page of it and what it had to offer. You should definitely pick this up, especially if you love when thriller and mystery mixed with pleasure, lust and feelings.

Corrupted Chaos, is as it’s name rightfully states: a bit chaotic. It’s up to the reader to interpret that chaos that exists between the two characters. Izzy Hardy is often intercepted by her boss, her number one nemesis - Cade. Their push and pull relationship is filled to the brim with spiciness, that often leads to capturing feelings. However, is it truly enemies to lovers when someone has been hoarding feelings all along?

Izzy is fiery, unable to be contained without lines of stereotyping. For her, Caden is always on her back, both literally and figuratively. She so much so is unable to catch a break with this one-helluva possessive alphahole. 

Morally grey men can be either terrifyingly gorgeously executed or packed with cringe and an arrogant stench. Cade straddles the line way too often, and I couldn’t decide if he is truly toxic or simply a façade, which may be even worse. 

What is evident is that he shows his love in a chaotic sense. Critical fueled by passion and always wanting better for Izzy.

He reminds me very much of a bully in high school that would often be portrayed showing their feelings through the most horrible displays of bullying and harassment.  

This barely scrapes a 3 and a half stars for me. Practically porn on paper. Thank you, next.

The Viscount Who Loved Me is, in this reader’s humblest opinion, one of the best enemies-to-lovers historical romance available to read today. The chemistry between the pages lay unmatched to any other, and on screen, it’s even hotter. 

The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn follows Anthony Bridgerton's quest for the perfect wife. Edwina Sheffield seems like the perfect match, until he lays his eyes on her sister, Kate. 

Kate is everything Anthony wants but doesn’t need, however, he finds himself coming back to her, often consumed with the thoughts of her. Although, the pair just seem to never get along.

One bee little accident wounds the two in a betrothal and suddenly, the hate seems more like a passion that turns into something deeper. 

Kate Sheffield is my ultimate woman crush. She is strong-headed and makes the most perfect viscountess. Her humor is unmatched, but certainly one great enough to rival Viscount Bridgerton.

The slowburn, the spice, the gradual relationship development - it’s all done so well! Easily a 5 stars for me!

The Holiday Switch by Tif Marcelo follows the teenage Lila Santos during her final year before college in her town’s most festive and exciting season - Christmas! She follows a strict regime to a T, hardworking student, most diligent daughter and holds a great secret. In comes Teddy, the nephew of her boss, and the guy that intercepts her plans and becomes the owner of her shiny secret. Thing is, she knows his too. 

This YA novel is wrapped with Filipino culture and a nicely curated small town slow burn romance. In fact, the plot is heavily focused on Lila and her path to truly following her heart. 

For me, the romance was really something that was unnecessary, and the friendship between Teddy and Lila would have worked out perfectly fine! The romance felt a bit rushed and I got a bit bored at the end. I started to quickly glance over pages and flip through with a long face. 

I loved Lila, I loved her secret and I loved the way she found her happiness. 

This earns a 3 and a half stars in my books. Nothing exceedingly great, but still very much an okay read.
