Thank you so much @notenufspoons for reading! If anyone else is interested, my debut YA novel is available here !
Reclaiming the afternoon
Tumblr media
It’s 90 degrees, according to my car’s (probably questionable) thermometer.
Nothing around here has climate control- no AC, no heat so it’s back to the basics: shade, and/or ventilation.
Both my workspace and the library are on upper floors , with windows that let in light- but no breeze.
Fortunately I just picked up my order of @ineffably-good’s book from the local indie bookshop.
Alas, all the “productive” places - with electricity or computers- are hot and stuffy.   Ergo I am Forced - forced I tell you - to sit in my car, in the shade and breezy ventilation of covered parking garage and “chill” .

With  a title like “the Last Roadtrip” I figure this is the appropriate environment to begin.  @tammyquest-blog

Many thanks to @tickety-voom for including me in this wonderful list!
After crying my eyes out over @phoen1xr0se splendid fic, I wanted to make a short list of the fics that touched me and say why. And above all, to say THANK YOU to the writers for the gifts they give us.
1 - An Angel For Christmas by @phoen1xr0se
This fiction is a Christmas tale about hope, grief, trust, resilience, single parenthood… all wrapped in snow and colorful baubles. It's the most recent fiction I've read, so I'm still emotional and not objective, but it's just… amazing. The writing and the messages of tolerance conveyed by these stories are so good. I'd even say, it's an essential candy-story (especially in our time). One that can't leave you indifferent
2 - Sand Between Fingers by Between_stars_and_Nebula
This fiction hit me like a hammer blow. It's very harsh and speaks of control and abuse, but the writing isn't overly graphic; it's rather very sensory. It's a fiction about resilience and building trust. The vivid writing touches my heart, and it's one of the stories whose updates I'm most looking forward to (and I have a soft spot for insecure Crowley).
3- Til Death Brings Us Back Together by atearaday
How can you not fall in love with this story where Aziraphale and Crowley find themselves beyond death on a quest to the heart of hell to try to understand who they are? The blend of present and past is very captivating, and the story is truly gripping. I've loved every moment of reading so far, and the author's fierce passion for his story. Aziraphale as an angel lost in hell is extremely endearing. And there are some truly funny moments.
4 - Are We Meant to Read the Footnotes? by @riathedreamer
Yet another fic where I cried, cried, cried, cried. This story of love and quest is simply heartbreaking, and the Aziraphale/Crowley relationship is truly powerful. This is one of those fics that grabbed me by the gut and never let go. This author's work is simply PHENOMENAL.
5 - Because I missed you (and I like it when you bite) by megzseattle @ineffably-good
One of the most feel-good fictions. It's hilarious and Crowley's jealousy of Aziraphale's snake is just adorable. It's the fic I go back to read most often and it always makes me smile.

Who Has Two Thumbs & Finished a Manuscript Today?
This lady. Woo hoo!
Tumblr media
Book one was published in December and is out in the world, selling rather nicely, thank you very much. Not in any way that's going to make me rich, but still! I'm getting a lot of lovely comments. If you're curious, you can find it here.
Tumblr media
Since then, I've been working on a complete overhaul of a novel I wrote three or four years ago, and which I tried to publish but didn't succeed at. I've been working on it off and on (mostly on) for about the last six months and today, I finished the very last chapter! Probably rewrote about 75% of it from scratch.
Still lots of editing to do but I have a FINISHED MANUSCRIPT to play with again, which is honestly the best thing ever. I love revision. I love having a whole product to polish and massage and make better. It's so fun, and so rare. Honestly, even as a fairly prolific writer, this moment of finishing a manuscript probably only happens probably once every 2-3 years.
Books are a long, long process. Writing the draft is just the first step. I'm hoping to have this one ready to query by summer, fall at the latest.

I have a lot of continuous fantasy stories I use to get through my day (pretending to be Cinderella while doing chores type behavior), and many of the storylines have gotten so expansive I’m like hey I’m a writer should I write about this? And yet idk if it will translate or even make sense outside my head.
There’s this ongoing one where my husband and I are the last wild mated pair of an endangered species and therefore the human scientists studying us are really committed to our health and well-being. This one is great for objectively healthy stuff you don’t wanna do. The human scientists scooped you into a crate and took you to the lab for vaccinations. (Yearly flu shot.)

Good Omens Fan Fiction Friday (2/28/25) - Alt Season 3 Speculation
Tumblr media
Following the ending of Good Omens season 2, desperate fans brought all their creativity to imagining what season 3 could look like. And they created some AMAZING and EPIC works.
Many of them began with a drunk and destructive Crowley left to make sense of Aziraphale returning to heaven. Eventually, the pair find themselves working together to avert the Second Coming (not always after reconciling). And then follows chapters of action-oriented, plot-driven, high-drama fan fiction. This list is not about those fics. (But someone else definitely needs to recommend a bunch of them in their own post.)
Instead, I'm recommending the quirky, alternative views of what might have happened after the final 15. These are fics where Crowley is less self-destructive. Where the action is generally toned down. Where feelings matter more than the plot.
In other words, these are the speculative season 3 fics that zig when everyone else zags.
Let's start with a silly one--Kidnapping a Supreme Archangel for Fun and Profit (T) by @waitingtobebroken. This four-part series has Crowley becoming Grand Duke of Hell. And befitting his high office, Crowley sets about tormenting the Supreme Archangel Aziraphale--by force-feeding him sushi, holding him by the hand to keep him from escaping, and leading him on a forced march through the park. How evil!
A longtime favorite of mine is But You Are An Ocean (T) by megzseattle/ @ineffably-good. Rather than fall apart, Crowley moves to the South Downs himself and becomes a "project" for the locals to befriend. Our ineffable pair are eventually reunited but without fireworks and flaming swords. And it's just a delight.
I'm breaking my own category by including the action-packed Down/Up (M) by @klikandtuna. I can't tell you more without spoiling the story. But you won't regret reading this story of BAMF!Crowley and BAMF!Aziraphale. It's a unique and fascinating take that still fits with this theme. Mind the content warnings.
In Among the Stacks (NR) by MeinirRhos/ @rhosmeinir, Crowley senses Aziraphale for a year after he returns to heaven. Until, one day, he doesn't. After moving on the best he can, Crowley finds Aziraphale is working in a library. Or is he?
And here's my exception to avoiding drunk Crowley--don't let this darkness fool you (M) by @mygalfriday. The Mayfair flat is a disaster zone when Shax shows up with a fallen Aziraphale. Everything about the Second Coming is extraneous when it comes to our demon caring for his angel.
Finally, Ginger_Cat/ @gingiekittycat wrote a long one-shot that hints at the epic speculative season 3 they would write in Prelude to an Epic (T). Crowley takes the role of Duke of Hell strictly to get the last word with Aziraphale. Instead, he finds himself in--well, a prelude to an epic story of heaven and hell. Can't give much away without spoiling the story. But this would be a good work to pair with Down/Up.
I'll be back next Friday with more recs on an entirely idiosyncratic theme. Follow and reblog to keep track.
And check out previously recommended fics on my pinned post of weekly Good Omens fan fiction recommendations

I can’t believe I live here.
You know I’ve always thought to myself that hey the US has its problems but it’s home and it’s a democracy so I’d rather be here than a lot of other places tbh
But if the Elon Husk succeeds in turning into our dictator I’m gonna be honest with you. There’s even some dictatorships I’d rather live in than here. If the democracy part vanishes and frickin. The Husk takes over? I’m gonna find out if being trans while The Husk taking over your country is sufficient grounds for claiming refugee status somewhere because I want out at that point.
