Information received is processed
Formatted,
Interpreted,
Recompiled,
Understood and admired
How do they produce such raw output?
Something does not compute
A procedure I'm not privy to,
That I've been denied access
:~ sudo -create
Unknown command
Even hardware seems incompatible
An electric force repells hands,
High resolution images compressed to scribbles
Print error
Sound driver not found
Could not establish connection
Cannot bridge knowledge with sensation
I cannot diagnose the bug
Error upon error
Crash, reboot, crash,
Reboot, reboot, reboot,
Crash
Static hum

A venterial mining crew enlarges & clears fluid from an existing duct in preparation to move in larger extraction equipment. This work requires considerable skill and a psychological resistance to claustrophobia.

Paul Lehr (1930-1998) is one of the greatest future-fantasist painters of the post-pulp era.
He was very prolific and produced a large body of work of remarkable intensity and consistent high quality. In the late-80s and 90s, after paperback publishers had lost interest in putting beautifully weird covers on their books, Lehr turned his attention to painting epic and highly detailed dream landscapes, a few of which are included below…

Carlo Rambaldi designs for ALIEN (1979). Effects artist Rambaldi was hired to make the head do its thing basically, the original design of course was Giger’s.
That skull one though. Nightmare.

Greed of Phobos
Poor Mars,
Robbed of all
It could have been.
No strength to hold it's breath
It's eyes, blinded by dust
Skin, dried and scarred.
Worst of all,
No water in it's veins;
It's canals.
Phobos had Mars' love,
But wanted control.
Took control,
Bending Mars' limbs
With the tide of it's own veins.
Wanted every drop of essence
And nearly succeeded.
All that's left
Of the love, the life
That Mars can give
Is hidden away
In the coldest regions.
Frozen
In fear of being known.
Hopefully warmth will reach
What's so far away,
But if not
That's perfectly okay.

*Gore tw*
As you sleep
The scalpel cuts through you with ease
And me with guilt.
The last strands of protein
Severed by the blade
Release you from your lower half.
Shoving the dead weight away I cry
Tears of joy and fear.
Struggling to bring
Your new life into place
I look at the open wound
No blood, no organs
A static wall containing yourself.
The new half is in place
The bone and nerves join
At the vertebrae.
You wake
Before your flesh is whole
You stand
Held up by the column of twisted spine.
Your body rotates as you gain your balance
Although your hips are out of sync.
You look me in the eyes
You thank me
I'm
Terrified.
