I woke up hungover this morning, but it wasn’t from drinking. I woke up with my head spinning and hurting, a nauseous stomach, and the faint, lingering memories of my dreams from last night. In my dream, you ran up to me, and I grabbed your hand, and you felt me grab it. You told me you loved me, and in that instant, we were together. We were emotionally together. you smiled. Then we walked off together. Then I woke up. I remembered that you don’t run or walk anymore, you can’t feel when I hold your hand, I haven’t seen a genuine smile from you in 7 months, and we’re not emotionally together. This hangover made me swear I’ll never dream again, but none of us can ever resist putting the bottle back to our lips.
