decided that the reason she prefers to call him bloodkin / brother rather than son is more of a direct jab that the only 'person' Samael truly belongs to is Bhaal, actively denouncing him as her's or his actual father's child. However, in lore/my brain, she does refer to Samael's sister as her daughter - though this is because she's actively priming her to kill Samael.

though, ofc, Samael is still his own person and has his own family in a sense

Samael's appearance revamp is growing on me ngl. I wanted him to look more bored and somewhat grumpy because that's mainly how he is during act 1 (when the guy whose clearly a vampire isn't trying to hit on him)

Samael's Lore:

Born to Orin and an unnamed Paladin (broken oath), Samael was raised in the temple of Bhaal. By the time he was three, his grandfather, Sarevok, coaxed the boy into giving in to his darker urges - resulting in the brutal death of Samael's father.

Sarevok - and Bhaal - both saw the boy as a potential chosen should something happen to Durge (which Orin didn't like, given she was already mad her father had been treating the boy like his own child.)

Orin balanced on the thin line of being an abusive mother and a neglectful mother - having some deep sense of hatred towards the fact Samael was born a boy and that favored him a little more.

Samael's scars are from Orin.

His tattoo was based on his fathers.

Despite being a resist durge, Samael still utilizes his bhaal heritage - thus using daggers, wearing symbols, opting for violence if needed (though this is mostly act 1, mid act 2 and he drops most of it by act 3 to begin his journey in becoming his own person)

He became very protective of Yenna when they first met, mostly due to the fact she lost her mother and he never had one. Plus, the red hair reminds him of how he used to be when he was her age.

He and Shadowheart become really good friends due to mutual understanding.
