cinderpelt and cinderheart.

shortly after i finished the deadfoot drawing, i got the idea of a split portrait depucting cinderpelt and cinderheart.

i like cinderpelt much more than i like cinderheart. the whole reincarnation plot was weird, imo, and not too great. it had potential, i guess? im not too sure.

i do love lionblaze and cinderheart, though. they're a solid, healthy couple, something that's rare in warriors.

DEADFOOT.

deadfoot is one of my favorite background characters of all time. i imagine him to be a surprisingly goofy cat with a good sense of humor, but this is only when he's with his clanmates. when he's around the other clans, he's a fierce and noble deputy with a face of stone.

i love the idea of deadfoot seeking hollyleaf out when she joins starclan. i had an idea of deadfoot and hollyleaf bonding in starclan! another headcanon is that ashfoot had a feeling hollyleaf was kin because she is the spitting image of deadfoot. the only difference is that hollyleaf's fur is longer and her features are much more broader like a thunderclan cat.

Au but Longtail is instead called Longlegs and his legs are about 4x the height of a normal cat, his body is still a normal cat body. No one within the clans thinks this is weird. Rusty wins the fight by tripping up Longlegs. Longlegs gets blinded by walking into a tree branch and that scratches his eyes.

my favorite so far is sunbeam bcause she's so relatable. like?? girl, me too. ive been told im too much of a suck up for roles and that im boring. sunbeam hit a soft spot in me. her insecurities are so close to mine, and urgghh...

when i was little, there was a bush outside of the house i spent most of my childhood in. i remember vividly one of my friends who lived two doors down teaching me how to peel a honeysuckle and eat the nectar.

spotfur's kits r so cute; i love all the new names.

also THE PROLOGUE!!!! im betting it's spireclaw and fringewhisker based on descriptions. that was lowkey so cute with how hopeful they are.

i like all of the protagonists so far!! im glad to have relatively extroverted characters. i cant wait to see flamepaw and sparkpelt's dynamic. i like his conflicting thoughts. i wonder if they'll be like rootspring and tree, where they're unsure of each other but get closer.

sunbeam and blazefire are cuties. i really hope her injury is so bad that she's forced to become a medicine cat.

also lightleap!!! i like how it explored how she felt after she couldnt do the dark forest mission.

cause they have times where they're surprisingly wholesome, like i love this one scene where theyre deadass just playing in the forest

gorsetail and beechfur are complete opposites. beechfur chases butterflies, gorsetail chases enemies!! they complete each other though! here's a lil thingy i wrote about them and their dynamic 💕

the dynamic:

     "Teach me how to swim," Gorsetail demanded, her blue eyes blazing in the moonlight. Beechfur was dumbfounded by the request. What kind of WindClan cat would willingly ask to swim? 

     With a snort, Beechfur purred, "What's the magic word?"

     Gorsetail tilted her head back and meowed, "Now." Her stare hardened into a glare. Beechfur could only rumble in amusement.

     "Okay, okay!" He mewed in defeat, "But on one condition—" she looked at him expectantly, with her ears perked, "you teach me how to run," he huskily purred.

     "What?" Gorsetail's intimidating aura fizzled out at his words. 

     "What?" Beechfur questioned, confused by her confusion. Then, it dawned on him.

     Gorsetail's eyes sparkled with mirth as she argued, "Cats are born with the ability to run, hare-brain." Playfully, she cuffed his ear.

     Beechfur whined, "Give me a break! I was tryna be cool," his tail lashed in embarrassment.

Oakheart Headcanons

-After Crookedkit’s accident, Oakkit wanted to become a medicine cat. However, Rainflower insisted that he become a warrior, saying he was destined to be leader.

-Oakkit would leave pebbles, feathers, and flowers for Crookedkit in his nest when Rainflower wouldn’t let him sleep with them

-While Crookedkit was being held back from being an apprentice, Oakpaw would sneak him out of the medicine den at night and show him what he learned during training. Brambleberry knew, but never mentioned it, as Crookedkit wasn’t being harmed.

-Oakheart hoped Crookedpaw would be named Crookedstorm, or maybe even back to Storm (something like Stormheart or Stormpelt). When Hailstar named him Crookedjaw, Oakheart vowed to himself that if he became leader, he would change his name.

-Oakheart would gladly claw any cat who talked badly about his brother, with one exception - Rainflower. He never approved of what she’d done, he resented her for it, but he could never find it in himself to stand up to her. In spite of everything, he loved her, and more than that, he feared her. He’d seen how easily she could turn on her own kit, and didn’t want her to shun him, as well. He always felt torn and guilty over it, even though Crookedjaw never pressured him to choose between them.

-Oakheart was close to Graypool, and the two loved teasing Willowbreeze and Crookedjaw over their relationship. Other than her, though, Oakheart wasn’t close to many of his clanmates. He was always too busy working, preparing to be Riverclan’s next leader.

-When Oakheart realized he had feelings for Bluefur, he confided in Graypool, who, having half-clan parents, was very understanding.

-On that note, Oakheart fell hard for Bluefur. He’d heard of her from Crookedjaw, how she was a strong and ambitious warrior, and funny, too. Oakheart hadn’t thought much of it at first, but then he met her. He could tell from the start that she was troubled and… angry. But he saw deeper than that. He saw someone who was afraid to let go of the past, a past where anything was possible, where everyone was safe and happy. He saw someone who thought they could have done something, changed something. Someone stuck in a cycle or regret, someone who felt alone. It was like he knew her.

-He started venturing to Sunningrocks often, always hoping to catch a glimpse of Bluefur. And most of the time, Bluefur just happened to be there. She’d scold him, bat at him, call him a mousebrain - but never did she hiss or growl at him, never did she bring along a patrol, and never did she lay a claw or fang on him. When Oakheart couldn’t stay for long, he’d leave flowers on the stones for Bluefur, hoping she’d find them before they were swept away by something.

-Bluefur didn’t truly open up to him until a few days after the death of Snowfur. Oakheart had never known her, but he knew she was Bluefur’s sister, and that they’d been as close as he and Crookedjaw. He hesitated to go to Sunningrocks that day, but eventually he did, and sure enough, Bluefur was there. He didn’t tease her this time. He simply sat beside her and offered his condolences. Bluefur thanked him, and they sat in a comfortable silence for a bit. Eventually, Bluefur admitted that she felt her sister’s death was her fault. Oakheart told her he understood her guilt - that he’d felt the same after Crookedjaw’s accident. But he assured her it wasn’t her fault, and that he could tell how much she’d cared for Snowfur. They sat together for a bit longer, until Bluefur mentioned that their clanmates might wonder where they are soon. Oakheart agreed, not wanting to press her that day. Bluefur got up to leave, and Oakheart blurted that he’d always be there if she needed him again. She didn’t respond, but she nuzzled his cheek with a purr, before she left. Oakheart returned to camp with his heart practically beating out of his chest, and it was less than a moon later that he asked Bluefur to meet him at Fourtrees.

-After Fourtrees, Oakheart was moonier than ever. Riverclan took notice - especially Rainflower. She confronted him, and Oakheart finally got fed up with it. He snapped at her, telling her she couldn’t control him and that it was a mistake to have ever listened to a cat like her. He told her Crookedjaw had deserved a better mother, that Shellheart had deserved a better mate, and that he wasn’t going to be an accessory to her abuse any longer. Rainflower countered that she’d given him everything, and that if it hadn’t been for Crookedjaw’s accident, he’d have been nothing but an ordinary, replaceable warrior. She stormed off, and Oakheart was left feeling… relieved. It didn’t last long though, as Rainflower died shortly afterwards. He was sick with guilt, and his anger towards himself projected on to others a bit.

-He couldn’t spend long grieving his mother, though. Bluefur came to him, revealing she was expecting his kits. Oakheart was ecstatic, but he quickly realized Bluefur wasn’t. He could tell something was troubling her - something beyond having half-clan kits. He offered everything he could think of, but she dismissed him. Oakheart was hurt, but vowed to do whatever he needed to protect Bluefur and their kits anyway.

-Oakheart ended up taking Stonekit and Mistykit, asking Graypool to act as their mother. She agreed, and Oakheart soon revealed to her that one of his kits had died on the way to Riverclan. Graypool, who had just lost her biological kits, understood his grief, and the two comforted eachother over their losses. They liked to think that Mosskit, Splashkit, Morningkit and Swankit were looking out for one another in Starclan.

-Oakheart never resented Bluefur for anything. He still loved her as much as he always had. In fact, at the next Gathering, when Bluefur was announced to be Thunderclan’s new deputy, he cheered the loudest. They still met, though they had to do so much less often to avoid suspicion. He would tell her all about Stonekit and Mistykit, and how proud she would be of them. He also reminded her that he was proud of her, and that she’d make a great leader.

-Oakheart did his best to support Crookedstar through the loss of Willowbreeze and his kits. Like Graypool, he eventually told Crookedstar about Mosskit, assuring him that he understood his grief and that he would get through it. He did have to use tough love on his brother at times, but it was love nonetheless.

-Did I mention that Oakheart absolutely adored Silverkit? He spoiled the heck out of his niece (which may have accounted for Silverstream’s somewhat entitled attitude as an adult). He was also delighted that Silverstream was close to Stonefur and Mistyfoot, and would gush to Crookedstar about how similar they were to them as young warriors.

-Oakheart never felt like he deserved to be deputy, but Crookedstar insisted. He gave in, and simply did his best.

-When Oakheart died, the first thing he did was go to find Mosskit in Starclan. They reunited, and he spent as much time as he could with her to make up for before. He met Thrushpelt and Snowfur, who had been watching Mosskit until then, and they became friends.

-When Silverstream began seeing Graystripe, Crookedstar was troubled. Oakheart came to him in a dream and reminded him that loyalty was not the most important thing - love was. He told Crookedstar he knew he’d do the right thing. When Silverstream died, he, Willowbreeze, and Graypool were the first to greet her.

-Oakheart now lives happily in Starclan with his family. He and Bluefur watch over Mistystar a lot, waiting to welcome her home someday.
