This story starts as all stories of this kind do. With the opening of a book, that should never be opened under any circumstances.

Now Jim was not aware of the consequences of choosing this book. Really he was not pleased at all with being in the school library in the first place. But he had been assigned a book report in his English class, and soon his fate was sealed. 

He had been blissfully browsing the bookshelves when he stopped in one area in particular. There was a book on the shelf, at perfect eye level to him that seemed to call to him. 

The book was titled Trollhunter, a fantasy novel about a knight, forever destined to hunt a foe who escapes his grasp time and time again. It was short and had a promising plot, so Jim had plucked it off the shelf without a second thought and proceeded to get lost within the pages. 

In the future, once it is far too late to go back in time to change the events of the past, Jim will reopen this book and notice the bookplate on the inside of the front cover. In fading ink the words, “from the library of Jurgen Leitner” stare back at him. It is only then that he will realize this book was the cause for all his misery and misfortune. Had he not been so thoroughly consumed by the Hunt, he would mourn for the life he could have had if he had just passed over this book. Instead, as he stares at the name of Jurgen Leitner, Jim feels the Hunt thrum in his veins and knows that he will not rest, cannot rest, until his new Hunt has been completed.

Jim Lake Jr. is tired. He's been going back over and over for the person he's been trying to save, time and time again. But he just keeps slipping from his grasp, always making that sacrifice one way or another.

At some point, he's stopped caring about holding up the world on his shoulders and trying to be this paragon of goodness.

And Toby Domzalski notices.

I love Toby to death. Where do you think did they go wrong with his character?

after trollhunters. They just made him the butt of the joke constantly and he was never taken seriously. He's the comedic sidekick i know, but at least let him evolve as a character like good writing would. most bad things happen to him. like that dumb pissing himself joke with the armor. no one else had that happen to them. or when toby got stuck on the van in the movie. no one else had that happen to them. that's just off the top of my head. but there are other times similar events happened

I feel like the interview with the ROTT producer was just a trifecta of terrible things to hear from a producer of something you want to be good:

- Admiration for the MCU’s plot structure

- Fan of Attack on Titan

- Belief that a happy ending where traumatized kids get to heal and get on with their lives is boring
