My thoughts on ILTACON19:
Positive vibes at ILTACON19 as the conference organizers seem to have righted the ship after some leadership changes. It was a busy event with a renewed sense of energy and purpose. Many conversations taking place regarding artificial intelligence, and also much talk of disruption as innovation continues.
Practical solutions already exist to address most of today’s information governance needs, sometimes innovation just for the sake of innovation doesn’t make sense. ILTACON can help you determine if a similar solution may already exist for a challenge that your organization is trying to address, and finding existing technologies can provide dramatic cost savings as opposed to trying to develop a new solution from scratch.
One aspect about ILTA that I find worth monitoring is that often the main themes and discussion are based on cutting edge solutions. Obviously this makes logical sense since it is a tech conference, however law firms internally are typically not the most advanced entities when it comes to technlogy. Many of the large law firms participating in ILTACON have similarities to large commercial business organizations. Representatives attending ILTACON from a majority of the law firms are seeking more basic solutions for their current challenges as a business oranization.
Looking forward to ILTACON20 in Nashville next year.
