✨ = How important is family to your muse?

family is the most important thing to johanna . it’s been engrained in her for as long as she can remember that nothing should ever come before her family ; and that everything she does is a reflection of the willoughby name so she is to always be on her best behavior lest she cause shame and break their family . she’s always thinking of what best will suit her family , rather than herself . which is occasionally her downfall as she doesn’t do as many things as she would personally like and misses out on opportunities where she might enjoy herself more .

♡ — How would your muse define love? Do they believe in soulmates? Do they believe this definition of love is achievable?

johanna’s view on love is a bit fantastical . she’s very much under the impression that once she sees the person she’s meant to be with , she’ll know and there will be music playing and her heart will flutter ; everything that the fairytales used to tell her would happen .

she thinks , because of the happy unions between her family members and because her life was a bit sheltered growing up , that soulmates do exist and there is only one person whom you truly belong with . and that it’s rather easy to find your soulmate . that there’ll be a glance across the room , and the whole world will fall silent . not existing outside of their little bubble .

all one needs , is to just be patient . and wait for that one moment where suddenly the world makes sense and everything is beautiful .

how would they get your muse angry at them ?

johanna is very hard to anger . she has always been raised to believe that being angry is a choice . and as a young woman in society , she is not allowed to be angry least she might cause offense . so she shoves down the feelings that could even possibly be considered anger and pretend that she doesn’t experience them .

as it is , i would say the only way marie could really upset johanna would be to say thigns against her family . johanna already has doubts about her skills and appearance , so attacks against her would be either agreed with or sadden her . but attacks against her family , who have done nothing but their best to raise her to be the best version of herself that she could be , could potentially cause her to snap .

💍 - sebastian, freddie, daniel

 kiss , marry , kill a true dilemma ! especially given that the idea of death causes her stomach to turn ~

she’d kiss daniel . he seems sweet enough , and she wants her first kiss to be a good memory . one to look back on fondly .

marry sebastian . he was kind to her , and that’s important for her to have someone kind as her husband . not to mention she’s heard that prussia is very beautiful , and she’d love the chance to have new landscapes to look at and paint .

which leaves freddie , and an alteration to the choices . there’s no conceivable world where she could ever choose to kill someone . so , she’d die for freddie . he has a very full life ahead of him , and she’d rather sacrifice herself and let him live it .

👎 = Is there anyone in your muse’s family they dislike, why?

there’s no one johanna truly dislikes . the person who frustrates her most however , is her mother . while she’s certain that her mother’s intentions are well - meant , her overbearing nature and pushy manner to have johanna married off to someone wealthy and powerful is often a point of contention between the two women . but johanna does love her mother deeply , and does her best to try and be the good daughter katherine wants her to be .

﹝ ♚ ﹞ ⸻⸻   HE WAS A LORD . though , johanna did have the good grace to be ashamed of herself for that being the first thing to come to her mind . there were more important qualities one should have ; like personality , and morals .  what good was a title if the one holding it was not worth it ?

johanna waits a beat , bowing her head and wishing suddenly that she had picked a lighter fabric , already feeling the heat prick her skin and turn her cheeks a ruddy mess of red .

when we have each other , we have everything

cyril willoughby is johanna’s grandfather and the father to silas willoughby . a normally stern man , he melts around his granddaughter and often does anything to make her smile . usually declaring that there is nothing more important than her happiness and making his dear granddaughter smile ; should her parents ever vocalize that he’s spoiling her too much . he has the last say in family matters * , and is not someone to get on the wrong side of .

delphia willoughby is johanna’s grandmother . the true last word belongs to her , and every willoughby knows better than to argue . fair , practical , and just ; she hears every side of the story before making her decision . she’s everything johanna wishes to be when she’s married and was known to be quite a beauty when she was younger . ( something cyril insists that she still is . )

mathilde rutherford is katherine’s sister , and johanna’s favorite aunt . an actress that’s earned acclaimed throughout most of europe , she often fills johanna’s head with the newest stories of her travels and all sorts of fairtytales that she’s performed . she’s someone johanna sees as the epitome of grace and poise ; and she often tries to imitate her actions in hopes that she might be seen in the same sort of awe that mathilde is .

silas willoughby is johanna’s father . the head of the willougby family , he’s determined to have his family rise from their rank and secure a match among the nobility with johanna . he was once a happier man , who cared little about anything else besides his family’s happiness . but when agnes passed , he became more crazed with marrying johanna off to someone rich and powerful than anything and has become someone johanna doesn’t recognize .

katherine willoughby is the matriarch , and is in johanna’s opinion , the most intense family member . she knows very quickly what she wants , and will do anything to get it ; regardless of other people’s opinions . she’s very pushy with johanna , and usually has two or three comments on what johanna should be doing : be it a problem with her posture , her fidgeting , her breathing .

frederick willoughby is johanna’s senior by 13 years , and as such , she’s not entirely sure on what he’s like . he was married when johanna was only seven , and the memories she had before that are very faint , and are usually of him telling her to leave him alone . he writes to their parents weekly , and when they do meet up , he’s always polite . but he feels more like a stranger than a brother .

eudora willoughby is frederick’s wife , and someone johanna is thrilled to call sister . she always makes time for johanna and has the loveliest quality of making her feel wanted . she’s one of the kindest women johanna has had the pleasure of meeting , and she writes to her whenever she has the chance . she always has something new to talk about and is among the most skilled of artists .

agnes willoughby was johanna’s elder sister . she passed away a few years ago , but she was johanna’s favorite person in the whole . she hung the sun as far as johanna was concerned ; and when she died , so did a piece of johanna . she misses her sister every day , and will often write letters to her that she keeps in a box under her bed to keep hidden as neither of her parents like to discuss agnes’ passing .

Marie smiled gently. If she had a chosen a bird, perhaps she could make it to all of those places with wings. But butterflies were garden creatures, attracted to gorgeous blooms and warm sunny days. In any case, it seemed like a lovely thought from a fairy tale, and Marie wasn’t going to prick holes in this particular daydream.

Were they still talking about butterflies? “Well, wherever your wings take you, I hope you enjoy it. Unfortunately, I must be going now, I told someone I’d meet them at a tea shop.” She smiled again, knowing someone else should introduce them. However, there was no one around to do it and they had been talking for a while now. “So we won’t be strangers in the future, I’m Lady Kenworthy, and it has been very nice speaking with you, Miss…?”

﹝ ♚ ﹞ ⸻⸻   SHE STAYS SOFT ,  feeling safe with her choice and the other’s response . she was kind as well , and that was a good sign when making friends . kind people were always important to have in one’s company .

the flower sellers knew her by name at this point , and she always came to buy the the largest blossoms she could find to fill her rooms . wanting to surround herself with as much life as she could when inside . hating the way her chambers looked when not filled with as many flowers she could carry .

❛ the ostrich ferns are lovely if you’re looking for something exotic . ❜ johanna offers offhand to the woman as she picks up her daily order from the vendor , picking through the lamb’s ears for anything she deemed less than desirable so she could give them back . ❛ or hostas , if you want something more subdued . ❜

Well, that was good to know. Marie took the flower from the young lady and smiled back at her. “Thank you, it’s lovely.” She twirled it once in her fingers and admired the silky petals. This was going to get crushed between the pages of a book when she got home. At least this one hadn’t been liberated from a garden without the owner knowing.

“They’re aptly named.” They did look like bells. She recognized them from her own gardens as well, though the name often escaped her.

Well that was fanciful and imaginative, and a touch poetic. “Would you not grow bored? As a butterfly.” She gestured to the flowers. “Unless these are your favorites out of everything?”

﹝ ♚ ﹞ ⸻⸻   THERE’S A PAUSE ,  the young girl trying to think the situation over and what would be considered the best response . what would be the kindest answers , without making johanna seem like too much of a pushover ?

❛ i don’t believe so . imagine all the places one could go with wings . paris , the operas , the gardens .. i imagine it would be a rather nice life ; even if it’s short . ❜ she ponders on the question , even as she runs her fingers over the tops of the blossoms . hoping she had chosen wisely .
