My submission for the “Shout it!” Zine got accepted for print, so i did a little victory lap and did a Danish translation of it as well <3

For the people who don’t know, the theme of the zine is “trans joy” so the allegory is heavy handed and fully intended with love and joy, happy pride month!!

The funny thing about me getting this into TMA is that generally I’m wayyy more into historical pieces. So I want to do historical pieces inspired fanart but it feels SO weird putting the characters in that setting 😭 like,, “this is 21st century man, jon, dressed like a Kyoto japan geiko famous from the 1800’s (actually not the best example because it’s still a living and respected practice in modern day, but you get the point)”

Although now that I think about it that would make for a pretty awesome drawing,,,,,,,hm

Trying to guess all the ones that appear (in the anime at least) hogweed, morning glory, Chinese lantern, wood sorrel, sandalwood, thorn apple, balsam and the cotton rose! That’s at least the ones I recognize :3

Maomao’s Atlas of Medicinal & Poisonous Plants! 🌿

This was a huge project of incorporating 50 objects into a piece that I did this year for one of my classes! There are little references to some of the plants actually mentioned within knh (if you can spot them all, you’re the coolest hehe) as well as some others located/used in China and Japan! ∩^ω^∩

A good rule of thumb for AI is "would you trust a trained pigeon to do this?"

"We trained a pigeon to recognise cancerous cell clusters and somehow they're really good at it" okay great, that's something that could plausibly be a thing.

"We trained a pigeon to recognise good CV:s and left it in charge of sorting through all our job applications" uh perhaps consider not doing that.

What’s especially disgusting about this is the fact that it took me less than 5 minutes to find a Wikipedia page that lists several notable intersex people!!! But an exhibit for the express purpose of documenting queer history can’t even do that. In fact it did less than that and just went for dehumanization right out the gate

Am I wrong to be disappointed in the gettys queer history exhibit? I adored seeing everything and everyone don't get me wrong, but there was one photograph for intersex people. It was someone's genitals. The info board only said they didn't know the name of the subject and it was likely taken for medical purposes. People were gathering in that corner and gawking. My only representation in the queer art history space was a nonconsentual picture of genitals. That was it. The only representation they had for intersex history was a waist down picture of someone's genitals. Not our activism, not Hermaphrodites with Attitude, not our lives, not our faces, not our books, not the celebrities or athletes with variations, not our myths or statues or ancient art, just genitals. I left the event early, because I couldn't stop looking at people and knowing that if I talked to them about being intersex all they would see would be genitals, because I knew that after the whole exhibit they would all only know me as genitals.
