Today is January 1st, which is not necessarily important, save for being the first of the year.

It is, however, important to him, in that it is the Nightmare's birthday. ..all of them. Every last one. Considering they are technically Thoroughbred's and also located in the Northern Hemisphere, they share a birthday with all the other horses in the area.

He'll have to make sure they're well fed.

A little sliver of light, darting about where light has no reason to be.

Nightlight does not like to be underground without a clear exit, if he can help it, but the allure of curiosity and his hunger leads the skittering creature onwards...

Curiosity killed the cat, and satisfaction brought it back, is the way that saying goes.

But if the cat is never satisfied, then asleep it stays. Pitch is not weak, not by a long shot, but the battle in Burgess was far from pretty. A minor setback, certainly, but far from the worst he'd handled. ..the most embarrassing, maybe.

As Nightlight flits about, Pitch does what he believes wise, in this time- he clings to the shadows the little heart worm leaves behind, following on his heels, out of sight. Where is he going, he wonders?
