Does Grian have feelings or is he just numb?

He spends most of his time disassociating and unresponsive but sometimes he has moments of slight lucidity. Those moments get longer and more frequent as time goes on until SL SMP where he spends about half his time awake, and then WL SMP where he's awake for the majority of the time with maybe a few hours a day disassociating.

These moments of lucidity tend to be caused by extreme emotions like fear or grief. The first one was triggered by Mumbo's absence in Double Life. (Read more about Mumbo and Lizzie's absence here)

do you ever think about treebark post-lab? maybe ren accidentally slips back into puppy mode a few times and martyn sits with him until he feels better. and then they take a nap and they’re cozy.

I actually think about this a surprising amount lol

Martyn absolutely panics the first time Ren relapses. Thinks maybe he's done something wrong to trigger it. Maybe it's his fault.

And when Ren comes back to himself he doesn't handle it much better. He thought he was better. He thought he could be a normal human being again. What if he never gets better? What if... This is just his life now?

And a small part of Ren feels guilty because. He likes being in puppy mode. It's easy. The learning curve to act human again has been something he struggled with for ages and being able to just... Slip back into that easy life... It's not stressful, it's not painful, it's so nice. He doesn't have to worry about anything. Martyn will take care of him and love him anyways and it's just so much easier.

Ren kind of wishes he could go back.

But he would never tell Martyn that! And sometimes he's really glad to be himself again. He likes being able to think sometimes. Until he starts to worry about everything...

But it's okay. Those relapses are frequent immediately after their escape, but they become less often as the months and years pass. And eventually Ren is okay again.

No one has asked about Bdubs yet, but now I have an excuse to talk about him anyway.

Not being able to keep track of time REALLY messed with his head. I headcanon he has some sort of OCD, and that's why he's always got to sleep and obsessively keeps track of the time. Being in a space with one available clock and no windows made it worse.

He'll sit in front of the clock (it hangs above one of the doors in the Lobby) and he counts the seconds out loud until he's decided it's time to sleep.

Unfortunately, the time Bdubs THINKS he should be sleeping is much earlier than the Watchers say he should be sleeping. Bdubs likes to get up and go to bed with the sun. The Watchers, however, think that 6pm is unreasonably early. Bdubs should be spending that time being productive (Like in the Practice Room preparing to be rented again :3)

But no matter what the Watchers did, Bdubs would just fall asleep in the middle of an activity. He would count to keep track of the time until he fell asleep.

So the Watchers fixed their problem by putting Bdubs on Narcolepsy medication. (or just absurd amounts of caffeine? I haven't decided specifics yet) And suddenly Bdubs has no problem staying awake.

He's got this tremble in his hands now, and an anxiety problem, but the Watchers only care about him being awake and "productive"

Etho can hear him pacing down the hallway at night sometimes. He counts as he walks, all the way to sixty, before beginning to count the next minute.

Art requests for pride month are still open! I'm trying not to repeat ships (although I know it will probably happen) and currently my list of ships is very repetitive. Some of them (Scarian) will most likely be repeated cuz I have many (6) requests for them (thank you for the support <3)

Technically the daily June art thing I was doing with requests was only for queer ships, and I know some people don't consider them a queer ship but SCREW YOU. Cleo's enby and they're both queer irl so yeah. I'm counting it. Enjoy.

Well, I was not expecting a Wilbur Soot video in the year of our Lord 2025 but here we are.

Here's the breakdown for those who don't wanna go support him by watching his "update video"

1. He acknowledges "clashing labels and opinions" about him "the loudest of which, on both sides of the fence, have been quite unhealthy." He claims he's not trying to dig up the past, just to acknowledge that it happened and move on. He says that he stands by everything he said in February about that situation, and that he will not elaborate any further since it would mean revealing information about his private life that he's not comfortable with. Also he says he rejects the labels people on the internet have applied to him.

2. He thanks everyone who supported Lovejoy on their tours and plugs a new Lovejoy channel where they're dropping behind-the-scenes footage from the tours

3. Another Lovejoy album will be dropping later this year, he's not allowed to tell us the date yet. A single "With Rob as our Witness" will be dropping June 20th. Then he plugs the Lovejoy Instagram.

4. He's coming back to making YouTube video but he's done with Minecraft "for the time being." And he's gonna start posting his videos to his old channel "Wilbur Soot" instead of the one he had been using. This is because that older channel is the only channel he has that is fully run and controlled by him.

5. He's working on a new series about Geography that he had pitched to hai audience back in 2022. Those videos will be posted to his old channel before the end of the year.

Then he thanks his viewers, plugs all his channels AGAIN and says bye.

Lol probably when my life is less busy. I have a few one shots I want to cover beforehand, then I'll write one for Grian's backstory, but I just haven't had time to write recently. Summer is a really busy time for me

But, uh, have a little teaser

Grian had done it.

He had made it.

Back home.

Back to the middle of the lab.

All the other subjects had launched their escape attempts simultaneously. Something calculated and planned. To keep the Watchers busy in hopes that maybe one of them, just one of them, could make it out. Could alert someone outside.

And Grian had been pulled along. Had been dragged into this escape plan by all his friends. But really. He hadn't wanted to escape.

This place was his home now.

So when the group began to split, scatter, and take every escape route that they knew of, Grian also split off.

He split off and came back to the lobby.

He could hear the other subjects as they were each captured. One by one, echoes of screaming and arguing came, only to be cut off abruptly as they were drugged.

And Grian waited.

When, at last, every noise had been smothered, the Watchers approached Grian. He sat in the lobby, obedient. Not daring to make an escape attempt.

And he was rewarded for that obedience.
