Final Project Overview

First of all I really enjoy wolfing on this assignment because unlike other projects I've done in this class, I had more choices in terms of choosing topic, style and so on. One thing I would change is the speed/pacing of the video. Since the max length of the video was 3 min, I had to speed up entire video, so the text on a tutorial part is somehow illegible. I would cut some part out (probably driving scene) and slightly slow down the tutorial part to make it more legible. Another part I would change is time management (as I always point out haha!) although I was a bit ahead start working on this project than usual (last times), at the end I had to be in a rush, and finally I couldn't make uploading the video on time. Because it was during the final, I was really busy working on other projects too, but I could've spent more time on this project earlier. The last part I would change is the audio's volume. some parts are slightly lower than other parts so I should fix this problem. It's not that annoying but if I make all the audio's volume at the same level, it would be more comfortable to watch I guess. The main take away is definitely the technique of video shooting and editing (+storyboard.) I've never shot a video before, so when I first shot a video, I was kind of nervous. Controlling the light and get a good composition were hard, but it waste ally enjoyable to me at the same time. Because this project was a bit longer than other projects, so building a story--scenario was kind of hard too. I wasn't sure if I could follow my storyboard bedore shooting videos, but I think I could somehow follow it :)! This project had so much things to learn!

VERY ROUGH STORYBOARD

Step1: Go to the Asian grocery store Opening the Google Map by using a phone and show the way/route to go to the Asian grocery store. (Probably Uwajimaya in downtown Seattle or H mart in Lynnwood) Change the scene to inside of a car, and start driving to the grocery store. (Shoot from back seat. Time lapse?)

Step2: Pick the ingredients After arrive to the grocery store, show inside of the store briefly, and start picking the ingredients for decoration Bento. →after finish picking change the scene to the kitchen.

Step3: Start cooking (Tutorial) Using combine of stop motion and time-lapse techniques. Show all the ingredients first, and start cooking—step-by-step. I am not sure what kind of design exactly I want to work on… (but probably Viking?) Spend 1-2 min on this part.

Step 4: Ending There are 2 ways to finish up the video. 1—go to the park—going to picnic and eat deco-ben outside. 2—just show the final look at home, kitchen.

Project 3 Overview

This project 3 was challenging yet very enjoyable one to me since I really like the typeface, Futura. 

One thing I would change for next time is pacing--the speed of video. Overall my video is very fast going, so some texts are illegible. Slowing down the pacing a lil bit, then i guess it would be easier to be read. Another thing I would change is time management. I tried to go ahead to do all the thing this time again, but it is always run out of time. I could spent much time on the first part of the video, but the last part is kind of less interesting--weaker compare to the first part. If I could manage my time better, it didn’t happen. Last thing I would change is the sequences of the video, I guess my video doesn’t really have “a good storyline.” Like the transition of each part is fine, but each part doesn’t have a connection. I didn’t think about the oder, so if I have a chance, I would consider about the sequences--order more.

Main takeaways is better skill on After Effect. I can say proudly that I improved a lot since last assignment. I watched a lot of tutorials on YouTube and so on, and tried to get new techniques. On last assignment, that was the first time to use After Effect, so I couldn’t try advanced techniques, but this time, I had a enough time, and room in my mind to learn new things. I am so happy to finish this assignment and I am satisfied that I could learn new skills :)
