Oscar still not even having seen it but he knows Lando’s honesty so well that it tells him a bit about who was more at fault AND that Lando doesn’t have ego getting in the way of admitting fault or self-criticism, so literally Oscar knows he can trust Lando’s reaction to it as the truth of what happened !!

but even more important is that it’s this quality of Lando’s that means they can absorb moments like these and not have it break them and that it’s such a positive “good for the team going forwards” that this has finally happened - as it inevitably would and definitely will again bc they keep saying they intend to be teammates for “many years to come” - that this is how they will deal with it. that they will be okay !!

like their response this whole season to people assuming they will break the team and their relationship has been no, they plan to remain teammates and they have something special and that they hope to deal with these clashes in a way that doesn’t ruin anything - and they have !! neither of them threw the other under the bus, neither of them are hiding how they feel, Lando didn’t hesitate at ALL to apologize, Oscar praised Lando’s character in the media pen immediately after when Lando walked away from his own interview the second he saw Oscar.

like I know for a lot of ppl this wasn’t pleasant to experience but it’s an inevitable thing to happen to teammates who are together and fighting for a championship but for me I just ?????? I’m sorry but we rly need to acknowledge how phenomenally well two drivers only just 24 and 25 have responded to this ?? I already resent on brocedes behalf that everyone’s tried to make landoscar the new them bc The Lore, people ! but also shsvshdvjdbdjd I think everyone can officially abandon that comparison bc less than this has sent many teammate pairings into an early relationship grave

and again for me personally I adore the Narrative and I don’t want a PR dynamic and Oscar letting himself look so visibly upset and Lando being so incredibly up front and immediate in hai response and McLaren not making Lando do the post race video and not making Oscar act chipper or put on an act…

and not a single photo or video used from them playing padel with one of Lando’s close friends this week…

it’s just beyond what I expected of them to genuinely have such a strong communication and open dialogue about this together and to back up them saying no, we want to preserve what we have bc it’s strong and it’s what the team deserves and even on a difficult weekend on the very last laps we’re going to let ourselves feel upset and not be happy but we’re NOT going to tear each other down or bring the team into drama. I was obviously hoping for this to be the case but you don’t know until it happens and goddamnnnn.
