Restaurant to Rentals....and so much more!
By Kristina Jones
Newbie. Rookie. New Kid on the Block. Beginner. These are not the descriptions one would think of after four years in the event industry. But when you work with some of the most tenured and respected people in the business, that is who you are. And that is okay because you learn so much.
In October 2019, I left the restaurant world and joined Events on the Loose. I jumped right in and got my feet wet with several festivals and Art Basel. However, I only had five months of on-the-job learning before the fabulous Covid hit us. I could not be more grateful to have joined this team, because Kelly helped everyone she could, and I was able to keep working after the initial shutdown. I cleaned and organized the warehouse, which was one of the best things I could have done to learn all our inventory.
What I love about event life is the same thing I love about restaurants; every day is an adventure, something different, new challenges, new accomplishments. When I came to Events on the Loose, I am sure Kelly explained the scope of work involved. I learned that it was more than rentals, but I do not think I fully understood until our first festival with South Beach Seafood Festival that year. With numerous activations and cooking equipment from one end of the festival to another, it was a behemoth but one accomplished with EOTL teamwork and our great festival production partners in crime.
Bringing our client's vision to life is akin to guests leaving the restaurant having had a fantastic experience. We work with many different planners, caterers, brands, and production partners, so each experience is entirely unique. I am amazed and happy with the network and community I, and we continue building in our South Florida event world.
I look forward to continuing to grow with my EOTL and event community.
You can find me with my daughter and Event Planner in Training, Emma, when not at Events on the Loose or onsite at one of many activations or festivals. She loves seeing our fun activations come to life as much as we do. You will find us at one of her swim meets, football games, the climbing gym, or our next adventure!

'Ask Suzie'
by Suzie Halpern
Tumblr media
Hi! I am Suzie Halpern. I have lived in Florida for the past 25-plus years and left behind my tablecloth company in Pittsburgh, which I genuinely loved. I was passionate about designing and creating using my tablecloths to accent the events. When I arrived in Florida, I dabbled in a few different endeavors like teaching pre-school to 3-year-olds.
Luckily, one of my parents, who was in the Hospitality Business, told me I should meet Kelly Murphy. She arranged a meeting, which was a GOOD match at first sight! After a few months, I joined the Panache team and continued growing and connecting with industry people for many years, and now I am a member of Kelly Murphy’s, Events on the Loose Team! Through the years of assisting clients, I got the nickname “Ask Suzie." Clients contacted me and even today asked me where to locate rental items. When is the event? Who is that person? Etc. By having this reputation, I have built up a loyal clientele.
With this information, I can predict the trends of the season. This year the trend is still Farm to Formal. Many brides are into the eclectic look combining both looks in their décor. They will often do a rustic cocktail, after-party, and a formal sit-down dinner. The Rustic -Vintage Look is still trending for 2023 Wedding Season.
Events on the Loose has many rental items that fit this look. From our vintage doors to start the wedding to our many distinct lanterns to go down the aisle and our assorted chairs to begin the ceremony. And, of course, the many seating options of tables and chairs for the dinner reception, including tabletop items.
Tumblr media
Planning the wedding details has always been my favorite part of the business. When the final details are completed and executed, that is my BIGGEST thrill because I have made the bride and groom’s dream come true and hope for a happy ever after future for them.

The Devil is in the Details
By Ashley Sias
Tumblr media
I have been planning events since the age of 13. My mother owned a business for children's birthday parties and my sisters, and I helped her every weekend. I learned a lot in those years. There is no such thing as part time or "time off" when it comes to events. Being in event management, your work is earned with blood, sweat and tears.
After college, I worked with Kelly Murphy for Events on the Loose and The South Beach Wine and Food Festival as culinary support. My role over the years grew into sponsor installs, design, and chef equipment preparation not only for this festival but many others around South Florida.
Tumblr media
Let's face it, event rental production and event management is not all sunshine and rainbows! More often than not, you find herself in a do-or-die (if you will), make-it-work situation. And the people who make it, find a way to roll with the punches with a smile on their face. It seems inevitable that something will happen where you must think on your feet. Whether it be something that broke in transit or a change in plans for activation installs.
Making it work, and striving for excellence is a huge part of Events on The Loose's mission. There are a lot of misconceptions about the events industry in general. Most people think items just show up and BAM you have a beautiful event. It takes hard work, precision, drive, and confidence to pull it all together. As they say, "The Devil in the Details"!
The event world is not for everyone, but I love what I do and working for Events on the Loose!

Rewarding work
Events on the Loose Co-Founder and Chief Curator Kelly Murphy was awarded the Richard Carbotti Gala Award, at Catersource, The Special Event earlier this month.
Kelly was recognized for her philanthropy,  supporting organizations like Feeding South Florida. Through Kelly's leadership, Events on the Loose donates a percentage of its revenue from the rentals of culinary equipment via Chefs on the Loose to the nonprofit food bank serving Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. In 2021, Chefs on the Loose raised enough to provide more than 65,000 meals to people in need.
Tumblr media
"Our responsibility to the community is what drives us,” says Murphy, who serves on the Feeding South Florida board of directors.
Events on the Loose also supports Feeding South Florida by donating event rental provisions and expertise, helping the organization raise millions of dollars to feed individuals in need and keep the largest food bank in the region working 24/7.
Events on the Loose works with a variety of community organizations. If you would like to work with Events on the Loose, contact Kelly directly at [email protected].

Party like South Florida
We are deep into the festival season in South Florida. Sure you can forgo home entertaining and venture out to one of the dozens of food, art and music festivals.
Or you can turn your home into party central.
OK. Maybe you won’t be entertaining on such a grand scale like the SOBE Wine and Food Festival, but you can still shop the look. In fact, we encourage you to use their work for inspiration. If they can do it, you can too.
Tumblr media
Our Cutie Mobile Bars, for example, can be transformed into your very own customized bar. You can leave it as is or wrap it for a corporate events. Either way, you’re guests will love it.
Tumblr media
You can easily go BIG in a small space. Check out this retro 50′s motif we created for City National Bank. Why? Why not?
Tumblr media
We like this approach for an employee celebration. Sure, it’s ideal for a wedding, but your team will feel special at a lunch or dinner in rustic elegance.
Our point is, you can up the ante of any with a few special touches.
- Check out our Facebook and Instagram pages for ideas.
- Contact our team.
- Leaf through our two look books.
- Shop these looks.
