I've had zero time recently, but still managing to snatch a few spare moments to write!

“Five hundred years?”

“I said approximately!” O.B. swings the monitor back to face him, the mechanism creaking on its hinge. “I reckon I could be off by about… a hundred either side. But yeah, pretty close! Precise measurements are putting it in the upper end.” He sounds, as ever, unshakably positive.

Mobius, on the other hand, feels as though he's had the metaphorical rug pulled from underneath him, and is now free-falling an unprecedented distance. “I guessed he was only looping for two decades, absolute max.” He shakes his head. “Shit, no wonder he lost it. That's enough to drive anyone to stupid levels of irrational, doesn't matter what timescale you're used to.”

O.B. simply blinks at him. “Okay,” he says cheerfully, turning to click through to another section of his results.

Mobius, struck once again by the absurdity of their collective isolation, long-lived, wonders if they've mutually forgotten how to live at a normal trajectory. Certainly O.B., nonplussed by unfathomable periods of partitioned toil, is perfectly happy to maintain that status. It seems they're trundling along with various levels of constraint, laced into the bones of the TVA like scars under the floorboards, a lingering echo in the people.

But Mobius is conscious of how brutal that remoteness will have been to Loki, especially in the circumstances placed upon him. Living in a permanent high-stress environment, a singular point in an entirely inconstant life – it's not something Loki hasn't faced before. But half a millennia of it, plus the loneliness of the looping’s volatile nature, never anyone permanent to share the burden of knowing with…

His skin crawls.

Starting on a handful of the bed share prompts :D

Taking cues from the very stilted manner in which Loki is conducting himself, Mobius sits tentatively on the other side of the bed. He swings his legs up and lays back, folding his hands neatly across his stomach.

Despite Loki's best efforts, the narrowness of the mattress means that their shoulders are squished together, even as Loki shimmies further towards the edge.

“Careful, or you're gonna fall right off.”

“Oh, no, this is – I don't, uh... I don't mind. I’m merely attempting to –” he shifts again “– maximise space. As much as I appreciate your hospitality, I wouldn't have suggested this if –”

“Nah, it's comfy,” Mobius cuts in, relaxing into the spare pillow. “Or it would be if you stopped wriggling, but hey.”

When Loki arrives at the TVA, he's only in the jumpsuit for a linear day or so.

Coalescence 

Three hundred and fifty eight TVA cycles post-Event – the Event being his unexplained disappearance into the void with the timelines in tow – the universe begins to collapse.

Rubatosis

Collapsing through the doors hurts a little more than Mobius would like to admit, but the physical pain dampens under the overflow of panic-mingled relief.

Insomnia

U.S. route fifty is dead silent at four in the morning.

Deicide

After the ren faire, Loki finds excursions onto branching timelines involve B-15 breathing down his neck.

Kuebiko (unfinished)

Mobius still remembers the look on Loki's face when he requested the section of tape pertaining to his mother's funeral.

When the landing party at last returned to the ship, accompanied by the previously missing McCoy and the two harried looking commanding officers, it wasn't immediately apparent that there was something amiss.

Weirdly enough, I seem to always start with a timeframe or a 'when' type statement. I'd never noticed that before.

WIP Wednesday

I have no writing to share this week. Between Easter last weekend and a con this weekend, my time is not going to writing. So instead, have a look at my permanent WIP. A bag I have crocheted and hand sewn a liner for. Which tonight I am hand sewing a liner to the shoulder strap so I can take it to the convention with me and not have the strap stretch and break
