Thinking about playing some Minecraft again and was looking though some QoL mods when I found this:
Literally the perfect mod concept, I don't think this can ever be beaten.

I have a regular email, a more professional regular email at Gmail, some alt Gmail accounts for, like, specific videogames/communities where I don't wanna get stalked, and I have a custom domain name associated with my paid fastmail account that has a catch-all set up to forward to a real address so I can make up a new email address on the spot for everything I sign up for. Like my Target membership is on target-<randomnumbers>@<my domain>.org.
I feel like the age of having a "burner email" is gone. Out of curiosity,

I just don't ever leave servers. I don't really understand how so many people don't katamari more servers through passing interests or w/e. I had to leave a server the other day so I could join the Discord of the local public transit, I'd hit some cap.
So Discord...
I'm curious. I know it's common for a lot of people to join servers and just lurk or join and immediately perma-mute BUT
edit: obligatory "reblog for reach" etc etc blah blah pls

german words i wish existed in english
a messy and incomplete list
nachvollziehen (v.) -- to understand, but less empathetic. i.e. i see the steps that brought you to that conclusion, but i don't understand you.
doch (interj.) -- you're wrong and really it's the opposite of what you said. often said with a healthy dose of sass. i.e. "this isn't a good movie." "doch. (it is)"
frech (adj.) -- somewhere between naughty and sassy and silly. when you're being a bit of a brat, you're being frech.
dreist (adj.) -- audacious, but far more colloquial. when you have the goddamn audacity, you are dreist. i.e. to park that far over the line is dreist as hell
heimat (n.) -- home, but stronger. a home is wherever you have built a life, but heimat is where your roots are. heimat is where you feel pangs of nostalgia when you go to visit your family for christmas and see the shop at the corner.
weltschmerz (n.) -- literally 'world-pain'. the world sucks and sometimes you just sit and feel the pain of it all. that's weltschmerz.
existenzberechtigung (n.) -- the right to exist, often in a comedic context. i.e. pineapple on pizza has absolutely no existenzberechtigung.
fernweh (n.) -- literally 'far-ache'. the opposite of homesickness, the desire to go far away. i guess wanderlust is similar, but that is also a german word, and this is more painful and visceral
schweigen (v./n.) -- the act of not speaking. silence, but more deliberate. the palpable feeling that people are withholding their voice.
verschlimmbesserung (n.) -- when an update with the intention of making something better actually just made it worse. looking at you @staff

Hey! For the past four years I've been working with Kitsune Games on a videogame, Kitsune Tails. Today's the big day, it just released: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1325260/Kitsune_Tails/ I did art, animation and gameplay design on this title. If you like what's here, leave us a quick review on Steam, it's actually a big help to us. Thanks, and I hope you have fun with it!

every time someone uses the term "reactionary" to mean "has an intense or impulsive reaction to stuff," it makes me want to establish an autocratic state that returns society to an imagined time before people did that

Any common face mask provides significant protection against the virus that causes COVID-19, but N95 masks are most effective at slashing the amount emitted by infected people, according to a University of Maryland-led study released Wednesday.
So-called “duckbill” N95 masks scored highest in the study, which measured the exhaled breath of participants who were tested both masked and unmasked to measure comparative outputs of SARS-CoV-2. The inexpensive masks, which have two head straps and a horizontal seam, captured 98% of exhaled virus, according to the study published in eBioMedicine.
The researchers also found that—in what might come as a surprise to many—cloth masks outperformed the specific brand of KN95 mask that was tested. Surgical masks brought up the rear in performance out of the four types, but even they blocked 70% of the virus, the tests showed. (To reflect the general public's use of masks, study volunteers were not fit-tested for their masks or trained how to properly wear them.)
“The research shows that any mask is much better than no mask, and an N95 is significantly better than the other options. That’s the No. 1 message,” says the study’s senior author, Donald Milton, a professor of environmental health and a global expert on how viruses spread through the air.

A spoon's only objective in life is to make soup go upwards, and it knows this. That's why when you put one under a running tap it blasts the water way high. The spoon thinks there's suddenly TONS of soup to deal with and it freaks out.

My absolute favorite Alexander Siddig story - and oh boy I have a lot of favorites - is that one day he noticed everyone on the DS9 set was suddenly asking him these weird very carefully phrased gentle questions like hey buddy, how you doing? you feeling alright? Can we get you anything? you know you can always come to us for help if you need it and he was like wtf why is everyone being weird and it turned out that he had been showing up to set late and generally looking tired and the whole crew thought he had gotten into hard drugs but in reality what he was doing was staying up till 4 AM every night playing Ultima Online

amazing to write this entire post without acknowledging the immediate loss of income to people when it's gone, and suggesting substitute features that all lack the unique property of someone actually receiving money. they're talking like they're just shipping a layout change or some shit.
i guess it really shouldn't but it continues to baffle and distress me how inhuman corporate thought processes are.
Tipping is going away on June 1, 2024
Hello, Tumblr! (And a special hello to our Tippers <3)
We introduced Tipping back in February 2022 in response to your feedback, and it’s been a great addition to many communities on Tumblr. We do love to launch features that bring you joy, and Tipping was a part of that effort.
Unfortunately, Tipping hasn’t seen the usage we’d hoped for. So, in order to focus on the things that really make Tumblr Tumblr for most users, we’re shutting Tipping down on June 1.
Have you tipped someone in the past, or is Tipping enabled on your blog? You don’t need to do anything; the little Tipping icon will automatically disappear from blogs or posts with the feature enabled, and you’ll no longer be able to Tip creators or receive Tips. Any money you have received from Tipping will be paid out to the account you registered with via Stripe by June 15.
While this will affect a very small number of you, we know that those of you who do Tip do so with great admiration for your Tumblr peers, and we’re sorry to be taking this away from you. We hope you can find other ways to show your affection and gratitude for your fellow users: You could gift someone a badge you think they’ll love or Blaze the post you’d otherwise have Tipped, and that will surely make someone’s day.
Please contact Support if you have any questions about this change. Thank you, as always, for coming on this journey with us!
