[ While he had his suspicions at first, Drew held his tongue on questioning her truthfulness. He wasn't the oldest nor most experienced nation, but he had not gotten as far as he had without one of his best skills—his perceptiveness. ]
" This is Washington, D.C. You must be pretty important to have a meeting here, sorry for not remembering you. "
[ It was at the mention of a business meeting that Drew realised she couldn't possibly be from this universe. Relations between Arthur and himself were, well, terrible. It was toxic enough that Arthur would not consider letting a business have a meeting on the same continent as Drew, let alone within his land. Rather than calling her out on this lie, he decided to keep his mouth shut. Getting her anxious about being caught was detrimental to making her comfortable and, he figured, he could take her alright in a fight if it came to that. ]
" Nah, it's cool. More important things to worry about than that, y'know? When did you show up here? "

" Well, actually, I’m here for a business meeting. I just don’t know exactly where I am right now … ”
[ Alice might sometimes be absentminded, but certainly not enough to accidentally hop onto a flight into another country. At his next words, her expression morphed into one of great confusion and slight fear … Had she somehow stumbled into an alternate dimension? As far as she was concerned, there was no such thing as the North American Empire in her world, and nationfolk were still very much a secret. Deciding that, she had probably, in fact, fallen into a different sort of world, she decided to play along until she could find her faeries and ask for their advice on the matter. She fixed her expression into a mask of calm and indifference. ]
” Right, of course, I’m sorry about that … I’m a bit of scatterbrained. ”
#ofrosesandtea#ic#shes a lot more calm than i would be tbh#and oh gosh thaNKS!!#i worked really hard on it this whole universe and drew are my babies#i figured that if theyre gonna act differently then theres gotta be a reason you know???#so i came up with history for the us based on a sort of what if scenario and im really proud of it so far ;;

That ain't too nice. I thought we had a solid friendship goin', man.
Aw, and here I was thinking that you'd finally come to visit little ole' me. Always business with the rest of you nations—nobody ever comes to me and says, "Drew, how are you doing?". They just come over here complaining about the nice Empire I've got going or, as is becoming the norm these days, start piling in from alternate universes and ruin my zen.

— By “enticing” I meant something more along the lines of stabbing you in the back; or something akin to said stabbing.
And no, it’s nothing social. I had some business to attend to that unfortunately involved wasting over nine hours of my day flying here. I doubt I come across as the kind of person who’d spend so much time on a plane just for a “social call.”

[ He whistled at her comment, a little surprised. He figured it would be difficult to accidentally get on a plane, but it could probably happen. ]
" England's pretty far from here, I must say. What a waste of a long flight. "
[ Drew froze, played back what he remembered saying, and nodded in confusion. There was nothing wrong with his sentence, he thought. ]
" Uh, yeah? I'm the North American Empire, I know for a fact that they teach you about me in England. It's not like the existence of nationfolk is much of a secret anymore. "
[ She frowned at him, surprised by the colour of his eyes, but she was used to unusual appearances so it didn’t bother her much. She adjusted her glasses absently ]
” Ah, yes. I’m not from here, actually, I’m from England, so technically speaking I took a wrong hop over the pond.. ”
[ Wait did he say …. ? ]
” Excuse me, did you just say one of your citizens .. ? ”

[ He raised his shades onto the top of his head, blinking wildly for a few seconds in an attempt to adjust to the change of light. He hoped that it would make him seem a little less intimidating—it was his government's job to be infallible and frightening, not his—but he figured that his oddly-coloured eyes could just make it worse. ]
" Were you now? I don't recognise you as one of my citizens. Maybe you took a wrong turn somewhere. "

[ She shifted under his gaze, fully aware of how easy she was to read and not entirely sure she was comfortable with this stranger knowing how she felt— and when he asked for reason for being in the area, well, she could just feel her expression morphing into one of sheepish embarrassment. The only reason she was here, after all, was because she was lost and she didn’t want to admit that to him. ]
” Really, I was just in the area …. ”

I'll be sure to just give you a blank look next time, then.

I'm not sure more enticing thoughts even exist, so I'll swing my hips extra intensely just for you. I'm a pretty nice guy after all.
But monologuing is just so much better than listening to people blabber on about nonsense! Mine is much more interesting. But what brings you here, exactly? I don't know you as somebody who's into social calls, and especially not with me—though I can't fathom why. I find myself to be loads of fun.
Alright, alright —

I didn’t ask for a life story, you know.
And that’s great to know. I’ll try to keep that in mind next time you turn your back, if I’m not preoccupied with other, more enticing thoughts.
Have you ever considered that maybe you talk too much? I’m surprised people stay long enough to listen — I would have left halfway through your spiel if it weren’t for the fact that I really have nowhere else to go.
#coltellieodio#ic#oh yes thats true!! some people find him really dark or really bubbly or a mix its refreshing stuff usually#i do wish there were more of other characters though ;;

Stay that way—it's a lot better in the long run.

Yeah, figured you wouldn't. Couldn't hurt to try though, I guess.
—What, really? Gross.
It must be — but it’s not very polite. So I don’t do that very much — I’m a good boy!

….
I wouldn’t do that —
Do you know what comes out of butts?
Poop does.

I find that people are much more likely to talk to me if I put on a smile and read off of cue cards than if I'm straight-up. Some people I don't bother with—for example, you and Matt—but in general, it's my go-to.
My ego's wounded on a daily but I'm a strong, independent, nigh immortal entity and I give just as good at I get.

That's hardly fair! Your ass has its own gravitational pull! Mine is a good size and it looks great when I swing my hips around. I should know; I've met alternate and sickening versions of myself and I was getting heart palpitations.
But what’s the point in insincerity? I like to keep things blunt.
And that’s hardly a compliment, actually — but if you’d like to interpret it as one, feel free. God forbid I insult your ego.

— Don’t flatter yourself. Mine’s clearly better than yours.

I must agree with you there, Peter. Life's a lot smoother when I don't have to worry about people getting mad that I offended their kid or somethin'.

It won't be cute when you shove your foot up their—
butt.
I know — lots of the big ones are rude when they like to tease and everything. That’s fine, because everyone’s a little rude sometimes, but I don’t like to be rude on purpose.

They think it’s cute.

At least I make an effort, however repetitive and insincere.
–Wait, did you just imply that I'm better than cue cards? I'm gonna need to write that one down; lord only knows how many times I'll get complimented again in the next century.

My ass is pretty fantastic, don't even hate.

You use cue cards to greet people? That’s kind of pathetic, don’t you think? One would expect better.
And your ass isn’t that great.
#coltellieodio#ic#nice to meet you too gaby uwu#my alfred blog is americannaivety but im not sure youre following it??#i think i linked it somewhere on my blog but who knows

[ Drew watched her with a small smirk and raised eyebrow. She was very expressive and it was interesting to watch. Most of the people he knew—excluding himself, of course—kept their facial expressions carefully neutral. To know what another nationfolk was feeling could destroy them, something Drew's exploited before. ]
" Ditto. What brings you here, Alice? I don't really get social visits, and especially not from strangers. "
[ Alice frowned at the male that stood before her; he had such a strong presence and she wasn’t entirely sure how to interact with him … Regardless, it would be rude to ignore him so she had no choice. ]
” Hello, Drew. My name is Alice Kirkland. It’s a pleasure. ”

Nice meeting you, Gilbert. You're a machine, then?
-huffs a sigh. he feels a little bad for getting so riled up, but he bites back an apology. not his style-
'S cool. No harm done.
Gilbie.
…Uh, Gilbert. Gilbert Anselm Beilschmidt, clockwork automaton, atcher service—
-at seeing the American’s expression he quickly pulls his hand away, eye refocusing with a faint whirr.-
Sorry.

I can be rude sometimes, I just don't see the fun in it. Too much stress for me. I think I might bite people if they did things I didn't want 'em too though.

Really? Do you tell them not to?
I don’t like being rude to people either — I was mostly kidding when I said that anyway, sir. I don’t think I would really bite anyone even if they did pat me on the head.
……..

Only all the time.
